The Dragon King's Son-in-law

The Dragon King's Son-in-law
Cottage by the beach

After getting rid of the mysterious little girl, Hao Ren headed to the second floor of the library in search of information. In the end, he borrowed some books that he felt were relevant and left the library.

As he had expected, the little girl was no longer there when he came out

Gazing into the gloomy sky, Hao Ren was still thinking about the entire incident involving the little girl. He wondered if he would be unlucky next week.

It would be very annoying, if the girl's parents really came to see her. But he blames himself just so he can avoid responsibility.

When he returned to his dorm room, all of his roommates wanted to know the cause and resolution of the incident. Even so, all Hao Ren told them was that everything had been settled smoothly and did not explain in detail. He does not want to involve his roommates into something that is difficult and disturbing.

"That little girl is actually very pretty. In a few more years, she would definitely become the most popular girl in any school." Zhao Jiayi sighed in admiration as she patted Hao Ren's shoulder trying to comfort him.

Yes, she is beautiful, but she is also a big troublemaker. So, the smartest thing to do is to avoid all contact with it.

"Don't you have to go home this week? You done looking for all the information you needed?" zhao Jiayi asked.

"Yes, I'm getting ready to go home now." Hao Ren put the books he borrowed from the library onto the table and took out another empty backpack."

"Go back early tomorrow, so in the afternoon we can play cards!" Back Zhao Jiayi patted Hao Ren on the shoulder while reminding kindly.

"of course. Thank you for your help today." Hao Ren waved his hand to his roommates as he left.

On the bus on his way home, Hao Ren could not help but roll up his sleeves and check his wrists again.

The green markings are very similar to dragon scales. Thanks to its strong rubbing, the color has already faded a lot.

He imagined if his grandmother saw this sign, grandma would definitely think he got along with the wrong group at school and obtained a tattoo for her. While opening the window, a cool breeze entered and lightly caressed her face. Gradually he fell asleep.

By the time Hao Ren woke up, the bus had been running for more than an hour - he had almost arrived home.

Drowsy and dazed, he picked up his backpack and got off the bus. He started walking along the wide concrete road.

From time to time, expensive and luxurious cars pass by. Compared to the reverse with Hao Ren, who while carrying a backpack and on foot, looked a little pitiful.

It takes exactly thirty minutes to walk to an area where there are houses.

If only classmate Hao Ren saw this, they would definitely be amazed. Hao Ren's house is actually located in a port area that has the best view of the ocean in Eastern Ocean City. Moreover, nestled among the lodges located only two hundred meters away from the beach, his two-story house looks ordinary.

"Grandma!" Feeling a little tired, Hao Ren shouted as he opened the carved iron gate.

"Ren, you're back!" A kind and friendly looking old man walked out of the house and greeted Hao Ren with a constant smile." Are you home late today?"

"Heehee, I have a task that next week has to finish, so I have to look for more information before I can leave. "Following his grandmother into the house, Hao Ren asked, "How do you stay, Grandma?"

"Ordinary business - cleaning the house, taking a walk along the beach, taking care of the flowers and garden, and also playing stock. Uncle Wang isn't working this weekend. Let grandma flaunt her cooking this time," replied the granny while chuckling.

"Main shares? How much did Grandma earn this week?" search Hao Ren cheerfully.

"It's not a business where you can make money every week. In fact, Grandma lost 6000 Yuan this week. But you know, this isn't what Grandma cares about right now. Actually, there's news from your Norwegian parents almost finished their expedition and maybe next month can go home." Grandma explained to Hao Ren while walking into the kitchen.

Actually they hired a cook-Uncle Wang. So there was someone who cooked for Grandma and accompanied her here in the cottage. Since Hao Ren's parents are overseas and Hao Ren has to go to school all week, it would be boring and lonely for Grandma.

Even so, Uncle Wang had to go home this week because there was a family matter. So, even though there was not much Hao Ren could do at home, he had to go home to make sure his grandmother had friends.

In addition to her strange and sparse parents at home, she is the closest to her grandmother

"Grandma, there are questions I've been thinking about all day." While chopping up vegetables, Hao Ren asked, "According to Grandma what dragons exist?"

"Dragon?" Grandma seems interested in topics like this. His eyes shone as he thought, "It feels like, it used to be that some residents of the Eastern Ocean City have met dragons here."

"really?" now Hao Ren became solemnly interested

"Yes. Actually, I met myself. I was young at the time, in my 20s. One day, while I was working in the fields, and a storm came out of nowhere. My best friend and I are trying to find a place to take shelter. It was at that moment that I saw a thick, terrifying cloud that suddenly descended to a low place…"

Along with his grandmother's story, Hao Ren felt like his heart had stopped. He urged, "Then what, Grandma? Continue on!"

"Well, just then, I saw a dragon-shaped flash of lightning coming out from the clouds and for a while swimming through space. Grandma scared. Then I thought it was just an illusion. But the more I thought, the clouds were almost white gray, very different from the other clouds in the sky that were jet black." Grandma was seen drowning in her memory, as she reminisced about the incident.

Lightning may be just an ordinary natural phenomenon" said Hao Ren.

"That's what your father told Grandma, too. But you know, your father wasn't interested in supernatural phenomena . Even so, my good friend later told me that he also saw a white dragon coming out of the clouds and began to suck water from the lake. He also saw a vast jet of water rising up into the sky from the lake. I asked him if it was true, and he said he was absolutely sure and would not lie to me."

What Grandma described was very clear and detailed to make the feathers of Hao Ren stand.

If dragons really exist, then…

"Why do you suddenly want to know about dragons?" awakened from her daydream, Grandma asked Hao Ren.

"Oh, just curious." Hiding his surprised expression, Hao Ren lowered his head and continued cutting the vegetables.

" In the Eastern Ocean City, it was said that in the past many people had seen dragons. Also according to the legends of the past, there should be a dragon palace near here. Allegedly, this is the reason this city is named East Ocean City," added Grandma

"Like the Eastern Sea Dragon Palace from the legends? " Hao Ren turned around and asked.

"Haha, maybe" After finishing washing the vegetables, Grandma put them in the pot..

"Why don't we see dragons anymore?" search Hao Ren.

"It could be due to environmental change. .With the damage to the environment, many creatures became extinct." Grandma's response made Hao Ren become speechless.

Like that, the two then conversed on various topics and finished dinner. After watching TV together, they went to sleep in their own rooms.

After getting into bed, Hao Ren had trouble sleeping. He opened the window and looked up at the beautiful sky scattered with stars.Together with the sound of waves from a distance, Hao Ren thought of the story his grandmother had told him. His strong desire to discover whether or not dragons still existed in this world had risen.

Raising his wrist, the green-colored mark was still clearly visible on his hand. The more he looked at it, the more he felt the pattern resembled dragon scales.

"Ah, I may have thought too much of this." He closed the window, turned off the lights and went to sleep.
