“The series of terror that occurred recently made the President have to declare a state of emergency in Jakarta and surrounding areas. People are urged to immediately evacuate to the farthest areas of Jakarta to minimize the increase in fatalities.” Eagles continued to watch television footage from inside his room showing images of people flocking out of Jakarta. A long queue of vehicles and humans can be seen on the highway that leads to Bogor or Banten. Their faces looked sad and desperate.
While tidying up his clothes and other necessities in his big bag, he looked around the room in his house, trying to recall all the memories he had in it.
His gaze was fixed on an old SLR camera owned by his father who was lying in a glass cabinet. His mind immediately remembered the time of the trip with his father and mother, a year before their plane was declared down.
“*This is dad's favorite camera, Lang. The grandfather who gave it to him when Dad started going to college,” his father said as he closed his lens after photographing the mountain scenery in front of them.
The little eagle was amazed at the thing his father was holding. He has often held a camera, but not the analog type that still uses film to take pictures.
“With this camera too, Dad can get your mom's heart.” Smiling with a big man with a thick bewok it pointed towards the shoulder-haired woman who was sitting not far from them.
“Why isn't there a screen, Yah?” His words were confused while pointing to the back of the camera which was only plain black.
His father laughed at the Eagle's question. “Because it's an analog camera, Lang. The system works not on a screen that is usually on a digital camera that you usually use. But this is using a roll of film like this.” Removed a small roll of film from his bag, then given to the Eagle. “It takes this, you can train the instincts that are in you.”
“I can try, Dad?”
“Bby dong. But after Dad changed new movie yah*.”
Unconsciously, her tears dripped down her cheeks. The memories were felt just yesterday.
The eagle turned on its motor that had survived yesterday's explosion. Once again the man stared at his not-so-big house with a garden in front of him. Since the departure of Mang Ujo and Bi Asih a few years ago, the house became a little unkempt.
Still remembered when Bi Asih asked permission to Eagle to sell rice and fried in front of the house with the aim of not adding too much to the burden of the Eagle's life. That way the Eagle can also be able to eat breakfast from nasi uduk and fried from Bi Asih.
The man smiled as he took a picture of his house that he might never see again. Then pulled the gas lever of his motor away from his house.
Although Mang Ujo once advised to come to his house if you need anything, but the Eagle did not want to burden the two who had contributed to make him rise from the slump. He directed his second wheeled vehicle towards Bogor.
Fifteen minutes into the walk, the sight he had seen on TV was plastered. The long queue of vehicles and humans tried to want to rush out of the capital.
“ELANG!” Call out the voice of the woman not far behind him. A very familiar voice.
His eagle eyes swept over the surrounding scenery. Then stop at a girl who was walking towards him. “From! Who are you?” He said while turning off the engine.
“My family, Lang. We plan to go to Bandung. The Grandma's house. If you?”
“Not yet, Ra. To Cianjur, perhaps,” replied the Eagle while correcting the position of his bag.
“Whose house?”
“Mang Ujo's. My gardener who I consider my own family!”
“I think you'll go with professor Tejo, Lang!” Tukas Dara's.
“Where are you going, Lang?” Dara was confused to see the Eagle turning the direction of the motor.
“To the place of professor Tejo, Ra. You, be careful on the road well!” The Eagle's left hand pressed the clutch lever, then inserted the motor gear.
“I'm coming, Lang!”
“Not done, Ra. It will be more dangerous. You go to Bandung. Take care of yourself!” Then the Eagle drove back to the city center. Drive the engine at high speed.
Jakarta is like a dead city. Many buildings were destroyed, coupled with bodies scattered in several corners that had not been evacuated by officers and soldiers. The pungent smell of lifeless bodies plus the humid weather with the wind blowing made the foul scent spread.
The humanitarian volunteers who are usually in every disaster, are invisible. Everyone was busy saving themselves to a safer place.
The eagle continued to drive his motor through the many pieces of debris scattered on the road. Several times he went through police patrols telling him to get out of the Capital, but still the eagle-eyed man broke through for the sake of his best friend, professor Tejo.
Situ Lembang Park, which looks beautiful everyday with dozens of pigeons, this time turned gripping. There were no pigeons there, only a few crows perched near tree branches. The greenish artificial lake water turned blood red with several pieces of body floating there.
Still remembered Dara's hysterical voice as the Eagle was about to drive her home. The sound of fear from seeing the bodies were not intact scattered due to the explosion.
The eagle parked his motorbike right on the edge of the fence near the electrical substation where professor Tejo lives. Deftly, he ran through the iron door, then pressed the code button to get to the basement with the elevator.
“Prof!” Call the Eagle when he just got to the basement.
There was no answer from his best friend.
“Prof, where?”
“I'm here, Lang!” Answer the Professor who just finished fixing a machine. There's oil marks on his face.
“Kukira Prof is ready to perform?”
The man shook his head. “Do what evacuate if our residence is safe, Lang?”
“The situation is getting precarious, Prof. We have to act!”
“Against them? By what? Super human?” Grouse Professor Tejo.
“Naaah, genius! Super human, Prof!” Eagle sumringah, he finally got the solution.
“No, no, no! I don't have a machine to make super humans!” While tidying a few keys into his hardware box, he rejected the idea of the Eagle.
“But the Professor has one machine that can be useful. It's time we put that on now, Prof,” said the Eagle with vigor.
