Chapter 11: Dementia

In the taxi, Laura was silent. Her mother-in-law changes her memory in a matter of minutes. Laura tried to answer carefully so as not to offend him.

The taxi stopped right in front of the hospital. Laura's mother-in-law was stunned to see the large building that had hospital writings there.

"Why did we come to this place?" ask Arsenio's mother who looks confused.

Laura wrapped her hands around her mother-in-law's arms and invited her to walk into the building, saying,

"We're going to meet someone, ma'am."

Arsenio's mother turned to Laura and scrunched her forehead saying,

"Are we going to meet my cousin who was operated on yesterday?" 

Laura smiled and nodded her head. She agreed to everything her mother-in-law said because she was sure that soon her mother-in-law would change her memory.

Fortunately, after registering they can immediately meet with the doctor because the doctor already does not have patients.

Laura's mother-in-law looked confused while in the doctor's room. A man of Arsenio's age wore a white coat and asked Laura's mother-in-law for a check-up.

Laura's mother-in-law complies. Even he looked very confused at the moment.

"Sorry Mom, it looks like the patient has to be hospitalized. For more details, we need to check it out in more detail. Therefore we recommend to be treated during the examination," said the doctor.

Without a second thought, Laura agreed. She thought it better for her mother-in-law to be admitted to the hospital than to be restless with her illness.

Laura's mother-in-law was immediately transferred to the hospital room. Laura also tried to be a good daughter-in-law by accompanying her mother-in-law in the hospital.

Doctors performed various examinations using tools, so Laura could only wait outside the examination room.

After a while, the results of the examination came out. The doctor explained to Laura very seriously.

It seemed that Laura's mother-in-law was watching them closely. I don't know what was on his mind at the time. He just looked on without saying anything to them.

After a few minutes, Arsenio came in a hurry. She received news from Laura while her mother was in the examination room earlier.

Arsenio looked at her mother who was asleep. He didn't want to wake her. While Laura who was sitting on the sofa, immediately approached her husband with an envelope of the results of the doctor's examination given to him.

"Mas, this is the result of Mother's examination," said Laura while giving the envelope containing the results of the examination to Arsenio.

Arsenio received the envelope and read it. Then he re-entered the examination results. He stared fixedly at his wife as he said,

"Explain, how the overall results of the examination."

Laura sighed and said everything the doctor had told her. She also told me about the incident at her mother-in-law's house.

"It looks like I should clean up Mom's yard immediately. If Mas goes there will definitely know how the situation of the house Mom is now. Even in his house there are junk items like the one in front of the house," said Laura accompanied by a sigh that sounded very tired.

Suddenly, his mother's voice interrupted their conversation.

"Arsenio?! When did you come? " ask Arsenio's mother when she just woke up from her sleep.

"Just now, ma'am," replied Arsenio as she walked over to her mother.

"Sit here, I want to talk" Arsenio's mother said, patting the bed next to her.

Arsenio sat down next to her mother. Then he said,

"What's wrong, ma'am?" 

Arsenio's mother looked at Laura without blinking and said,

"Laura, please buy me a drink. Must be Arsenio thirsty."

Laura also said. She picked up her bag and walked out to buy her husband a drink.

"What's wrong, ma'am?" ask Arsenio back.

Arsenio's mother looked compassionately at her son and sighed. Then he said,

"Do you know if your wife is having an affair?"

At once Arsenio's eyes widened to hear a question from her mother. Arsenio's mind was in a frenzy at this moment. He could not think clearly hearing what his mother said.

"cheated? What did Laura's mother mean by cheating?" asked Arsenio who looked confused at the moment.

"So he spoke very closely and seriously with men your age on that couch."

Arsenio's hands clenched. He could at least accept the betrayal. Especially from his wife.

"Are you sure?" arsenio asked with restraining her anger.

Arsenio's mother looked at her son and said,

"Do you doubt your mother?"

Arsenio looked at her mother's honest-looking bead. She smiled to relieve her suspicious mother of thinking she didn't believe her mother.

At that moment, Laura was at the door. He was again faced with a floating panel that for several days always gave missions to him.

Laura turned left and right before reading the writing on the panel screen.

He smiled bitterly realizing his stupidity. For a moment he forgot that the panel could not be seen or touched by others.

Laura looked back at the panel and read it carefully in her heart.

An additional mission for this time is to restore the husband's trust by satisfying him and no longer bother about the news given by his mother.

Instantly Laura's forehead frowned. He wondered in his heart about his mission this time. He was completely clueless as to what his mission meant this time. 

Why would I do that? What the hell is going on? Why carry the name of mother?

He sighed and immediately opened the door handle of the room by passing the panel that was still visible there.

Laura walked into the room with her smile. He gave Arsenio a bottle of cold isotonic drink, saying,

"Drink Me."

Arsenio stared fixedly at his wife with a gaze filled with annoyance as she grabbed the bottle of drink. Then he drank it with one gulp until it ran out.

After that he got up from his seat and walked away from his mother saying,

"Let's get out. I want to talk."

Laura felt uncomfortable. With heavy steps she followed her husband out of the room.

Now, they're sitting in the hospital garden. Arsenio looked around the garden. Feeling that there was no one else but them, he started talking to his wife.

"Who's the guy you took to mom's room?" arsenio asked with a straight look ahead, without looking at his wife who was beside him.

"Male? Wh who? I didn't take anyone to Mom's room. No one even visited Mom's room" answered Laura who was confused at hearing the question from her husband.

Hearing the answer from his wife who had not confessed at all, Arsenio turned to him and said,

"Mother told me. You talk seriously and look close to a man. You guys sit on the couch without shame on Mom."

Laura sighed and her face looked very tired. Then he said,

"I know the one I spoke to was just the doctor who handled Mom. We did sit on the sofa talking about Mom's condition and the results of Mom's examination. Do you know for yourself if you have dementia that is getting worse? You shouldn't eat what Mom says."

Arsenio still looked at his wife with a look of disbelief. He still hesitated at his wife's answer.

Laura sighed again and stared fixedly at her husband's bead eyes as she said,

"If you don't believe me, let's ask the doctor so you can judge my honesty."

Arsenio did not reply, she doubted her mother's words. But he couldn't just trust his wife either.

Laura moved from her seat and pulled her husband's hand to see the doctor.

It just so happens that they cross paths with the male doctor who handles Arsenio's mother. 

"Sorry doc, can we talk for a minute?" laura asked the doctor.

The doctor nodded and brought them into his room.

Laura told what her mother-in-law had told Arsenio. And the doctor chuckled at what Laura said.

"Do you believe sir if I have a relationship with your wife?"
