Chapter 23 - Getting Back to Conscious

"Uh." Ethan groans slowly. He slowly began to open his eyes.

"Are you awake?"

Ethan saw Alice's silhouette before him. A familiar gentle sensation could be felt in his head. A faint smile spread on his lips.

"Good morning." Ethan greeted Alice with a hoarse voice.

"Un." Alice replied with a small nod.

Ethan is trying to wake up. His body still feels very sick. But he still forced it. His throat was dry and he needed water for hydration.

"... I miss Erica." Ethan suddenly wants service from Erica just like at the Castle.

Removing water from the inventory, Ethan immediately gulps down all the bottled water he carries. A feeling of relief and cold flowed down his throat.

"So, how long have I fainted-" Ethan stopped talking when he saw Alice's body that was no longer transparent. It was a little denser than before. "... What happened to your body?"

Alice flinched and she averted her gaze not daring to stare directly into Ethan's eyes. "... What's wrong? I'm called The Strongest Tyrant for no reason. Hmph."

Ethan narrowed his eyes suspiciously. Alice's voice was too trembling for the one who spoke so arrogantly. He's always bad at lying.

Ethan touches the uncomfortable part of his neck. His hand stopped when he found two small wounds where a circuit was on his neck.

Veins appear on the forehead and in Ethan's clenched hands. Deftly, Ethan performs the Americna Armlock.

Alice feels a bad feeling as Ethan's hand creeps on her lower body. He felt all over his body threatened.

"Wait on! I-i'm sorry! I won't do it again! So, stop!" Alice desperately pleads with Ethan.

Ethan's hands stopped and his strength slowly loosened, releasing a lockdown. He looked at the teary-eyed Alice on the ground. Her hand involuntarily rubbed Alice's head.

"I'll give you a few drops every day. I don't want to have the desire of being bitten and sucked in by Old Grandma. You know what I mean, right?"

"Who do you mean Old Granny-" Alice tries to protest Ethan's words. However, he stops when Ethan's face becomes creepy. "Law. I get it, Ethan."

Meanwhile, on Earth, some regions were still engulfed in a flood of monsters. The United States became the first country to resolve the crisis. All because of the help from the Trouble Guild and Gordon. The President of the United States gives a badge of appreciation to all the members of the Trouble Guild. Their name immediately soared up and became a superstar.

However, they cannot relax. They went to several other countries that experienced similar stampede. Michael, Gordon and Kiaa went to Holland to help there. Nina, Li Mei, Arya, go to Malaysia. Lastly, Hu Tao, Jun, and Silvia went to China. Erica was still in the United States to purify the Miasma left behind from the Monsters.

Trouble Guild returned to Guild Base with its head bowed. There was no aura of pride for saving so many countries from destruction. They blame themselves for the destruction of a smaller country.

"Oh? You guys back yet?" A cheerful voice caught the attention of everyone.

Ethan, who was standing with a stick, was busy grilling large mutton. Everyone was confused and froze for a moment when they saw Ethan, like they were seeing a ghost.

"Sir ...?"

"Hm? What's the matter, Erica?" Ethan tilted his head.

"What are you doing?"

"And who's the woman behind you?"

Questions are asked one by one. Of course, their main concern was, Alice who was busy drinking Ethan's handmade wine.

"He's Alice de Eyus. Vampire Ancestor made a contract with me."

Alice looked at the Trouble Guild members with an interested look. He could sense the auras of all of them were still weak. But very solid. Alice had high expectations because of the potential that everyone had.

"They are tiger cubs. However, you really are on another level." Alice muttered, glancing at Ethan who was busy arranging the fire so that the flesh was not charred.

Then, the introductory session began. Everyone timidly introduced themselves. Then, continue with the question and answer session.

Everyone bites their lips in annoyance at Ethan's words. However, what made them even more upset was that they had no arguments to refute Ethan.

"Then, what about Brother?" Erica asked in a weak voice.

Ethan laughed silently and looked at the sky full of stars. "I? Of course I'm strong. Something like the fate of the World is not a difficult thing for me to bear. I can save them all. However, I deliberately did not do it for the future."

"What kind of future do you mean by sacrificing so much-!"

"The future when I'm no more. I want them to stand on their own feet."

Everyone closed their lips tightly to hear Ethan's indifferent words. They feel an ominous premonition from Ethan's words that suggests his death is coming soon. The world will be destroyed when Ethan dies.

"Stop thinking too hard and eat this mutton."
