The Last Human Returns.

The Last Human Returns.
Chapter 34 - Chaos

Ethan and Alice stood still looking at the battle that broke out the moment stampede occurred. The monsters that overflowed from within were only around E Rank and the strongest was only the Lizardman, Monster Rank C.

"Alice, can you fight well? It would be so bad if you caught a Goblin."

"Who do you think you're talking to?" Alice replied with great arrogance.

Ethan smiled broadly at Alice's proud reply. He then pulled the Katana made with Magic Iron by Leo with the runes strengthening the blades.

"Let's fight with all our heart, Alice."

"Whispering, Pembully and perverted man." Although she retorted tightly, Alice still took out the red scythe that was hers.

Soon, the two of them joined into such a fierce battlefield. The Hunter slowly began to be pushed back due to the significant difference in numbers.

"Kieeek!"

"Cieeeee!"

The room of monsters shook the air and one by one the Hunter began to fall. The war situation was not very good and it was only a matter of time until Fortress number three fell.

The splash! The splash!

The head of the monster fell down one by one with a short period of time. Another Hunter was shocked by the fountain of blood gushing out from the monster's neck.

"Ap– What happened?"

"That guy– Ethan Austin!"

"Oh, he really came to the United States!"

Ethan moves very dynamically. His slash was perfect and beautiful as if he was a robot program created to slaughter the Monsters.

Alice, who moves right behind Ethan, protects Ethan's back, not missing a single enemy to attack Ethan's blind spot. With his weapon, he also swept clean, making the ranks of Monsters become extremely chaotic.

Morale of the troops rose to see how extraordinary the cooperation of the two. Confidence of victory rises to the maximum.

"Don't be afraid! The strongest Hunter is with us!"

"Forward! Onward! Forward up!"

"Cooperate with the closest people! Don't separate!"

Just with the help of two people, the battlefield situation changed to 180°. The originally disadvantaged human side slowly began to push back the Monsters around the Fortress.

Ethan stopped moving in the middle of a mountain of corpses and a river of blood. Such a powerful magic wave slowly began to approach Fort 3.

"... Why would a creature from the 10th Floor be able to get out of the 4th Floor Stampede?" Alice who also sensed magic energy from a distance, frowned.

Ethan nodded. The amount of magic energy from these Monsters was not a low rank Monster like the Lizardman or Ogre. If you see the magic pattern, Ethan suspects the enemy this time is a death knight.

Ethan turned to look at the battlefield that had begun to be conducive. If you can, Ethan wants to tell them to back off and get out of here. However, thinking about their pride, Ethan was pretty sure they would not back down even if he told him to.

Alice looks at Ethan who is agitated, trying to convince Ethan. "Why are you so nervous? You managed to hold off the Avatar from Dracula's bastard. The enemy is weaker than Dracula. There's no reason you'll lose just against the Death Knight."

"Hm?" Ethan looked at Alice who spoke in a serious tone. Ethan laughed and shook his head. "No, I'm not afraid. I'm so excited right now."

The reason Ethan came to the United States alone, was of course because he wanted to fight more. If he brings a partner, Ethan won't be able to fight for so long.

Alice looked at Ethan with a strange look. He did not expect the man he thought to have a calm judgment, turned out to be a muscle brain.

"You wait here. I'll finish it fast."

"Don't go too far. I won't be able to use mana if you go too far."

"certain."

Ethan kicked the ground and moved towards the Death Knight who was getting closer towards him. He did not realize that now his lips were grinning like a war maniac.

Arriving where the mana waves came from, Ethan could see a bipedal humanoid being wearing jet-black full plate armor. A gloomy and sticky aura enveloped around the Knight.

The two who were already aware of each other's presence, looked at each other for a moment measuring the fighting strength of each other. Then, in the next second, they kicked the ground together and closed the distance.

Clank's!

The Death Knight realizes that he has the advantage in terms of strength so he puts more pressure on Ethan.

Not wanting to clash from the front, Ethan tried to retreat with the momentum that the Death Knight's attack created. However, his plan was precisely guessed by the enemy. The Death Knight continues to chase Ethan, making Ethan unable to fit into his own temple.

Despite the pressure, Ethan is not at all hit. Ethan excels at a little speed. So, there's no problem for Ethan to respond to enemy attacks.

"Stay, it's heavy."

The long battle against the Undead was, a stupid idea. So, not wanting to take too long, Ethan began to coat his blade with the Attribute Void.

Clank's!

Ethan was no longer pushed back. However, his hands were still trembling as he crossed swords. However, Ethan tries to attack more aggressively.

Clank's! Clank's!

Position quickly reversed. Ethan started to suppress the Death Knight. Of course the Death Knight wasn't without a fight, he was trying his best to reverse the course of the fight. Unfortunately, Ethan is not a person who likes to follow the tempo of others.

Shhh.

Ethan's sword managed to scratch the Death Knight's helmet thin. The fight that had been deadlocked since the beginning, slowly started leaning towards Ethan. The Death Knight's movements began to slow down and he lost the power on his sword.

The Death Knight realized that the sword aura of Ethan was slowly swallowing the Death Aura that surrounded his body. He attempted to kill Ethan before in the end, his entire Death Aura vanished.

"Dearly enough. However, you are too slow to realize it, Knight Master."

"!?"

Shhh!

The gray slash formed a beautiful semi-circular curva splitting the Death Knight's metal body. Ethan not only split his body, he also cut the Death Knight's life vessel.

[You killed the Death Knight.]

[You get 18,000 Experience Points.]

Ethan flicks his sword and puts it back into the sheath. The war situation has improved to a certain point. So, he should be able to go to the other Fortresses to provide assistance.

"... Or don't. A person's self-esteem is really strange. So, better do it accordingly."

Ethan undoes his intentions and he returns to Fortress number 3 which the first wave of Stampede will soon be over in a moment. He could not wait to stretch his body.

***

Unlike the United States, in the Netherlands, the situation is really very precarious. In total, there were already 3 Fortresses that fell into the hands of the Monsters out of a total of 7 Fortresses. The reason behind Amsterdam's sudden downfall was, the appearance of the Monster who was estimated to be at level 100, Elder Lich.

In Fort Number 1, Carmila, Trouble Guild, and several Hunters discussed the actions they would take to take over the Fortress that had already fallen into the hands of the Monsters.

"Of course we have to take over! If it procrastinates, the Fortress will become a hindrance in the future!" A thin young man, expressed his opinion in a very shrill voice.

Hu Tao frowned and stuffed his nearly broken ear. "Stop dreaming. It was impossible when we could barely even endure the waves of Stampede. Are you stupid?"

The skinny young man slammed the table with a red face in anger. "You outsiders can't possibly understand our thinking! People from the Nation who used to be slaves, dare to say the arrogant–"

"Guild Master Alkmar!" Carmila shouted and glanced at the skinny man with a gaze filled with killing intent. "If you speak more, don't blame me for punishing you."

"Look!" The Guild Master of the Alkmar Guild, held his breath and he lowered his head. "Yes. Ii'm sorry. I'm just trying to think of something good for the country."

Hu Tao then woke up from where he was sitting. "If so, I'll get out of here. After all, I am not a person from this country. Please finish your own business."

"Wait, Lady Hu Tao–"

Hu Tao looked at Carmila with a friendly smile. "You can calm down. We didn't break the contract. However, we will not hear orders from the Dutch Hunter Association or the Government. Especially a suicide mission. So, the Trouble Guild will continue in this place until Stampede is done."

Carmila could at least breathe a sigh of relief. The results today were of course due to the help of the Trouble Guild members. If not for their help, Carmila could not have imagined such a bad thing as what happened to Amsterdam– no, not even the whole Netherlands.
