The Only Daughter Of Lancaster

The Only Daughter Of Lancaster
Part Twenty-Two: The End

Tell me if Amabel is sensitive to Arion's words. However, really hearing Arion say so easily about marriage made her sad. Maybe it's Arion's right, but Arion doesn't think about what Amabel thinks. He didn't even ask if Amabel really wanted this marriage or not. No one ever asked Amabel about it in the first place.

His gray eyes looked at the sky. The moon shone brightly and stars accompanied him. "Isn't this a night too good to be sad?" The question made Amabel look.

The girl had just pulled the end of her dress, but was immediately stopped. "No need to salute. We're in the same position to avoid the party. So, just let it be like this." Prince Hendery.

The two then fell silent, busy looking ahead. Amabel's chest still felt tight, but it felt awkward to show her sadness in front of the Prince. Hendery glanced, catching the anxiety on Amabel's face. "What did you answer on the first exam?"

"Yes?" Reply Amabel, not hearing Hendery's question clearly.

Hendery turned his head, staring at Amabel flatly. "First test session. What are you answering? I specifically want you to explain answer number one."

Amabel smiled slightly, only this time someone asked about the exam. "I answer to education."

"Why is that?" Hendery is certainly interested in this. In the government and rule of the Hendery kingdom was very active. He needs to hear the opinion of someone like Amabel. It is unfortunate because the answer sheet will only be issued when the authorities ask for it. Though according to Hendery, the answer must be shown to the public. So that later the public knows how appropriate a queen to be Queen.

Amabel folded her arms over the balcony. "If we look at the center of the kingdom of course it's not a big deal. In Plodnavor specifically Duke Lancaster had made education compulsory even for the common people. But beyond that, there are many illiterate children. I think, as one of the great empires we need to address it. The basis of education for the people is something that must be addressed. We have no shortage of resources, material or human. So what is holding back education? Is it just a fear of being called a noble title, or are we not ready to create that opportunity?"

Amabel sighed, then continued. "Just like the right to life, education is something that must be owned. At least when they grow up they will not be easily lied to by people who are pretentious to power. With education they can choose a job, not just be a rude worker. That doesn't mean that rude workers are bad jobs. But how sad it is when this rich country is not even able to provide basic education to its people."

Hendery looked straight ahead. Amabel may not be looking at him right now, but Hendery felt stabbed with a sword. Amabel's words are undeniable. As a Prince, Hendery felt ashamed. He always felt to fix the gap, but never really thought about the people.

"You know, suddenly I feel ashamed." Hendery said at last.

Amabel turned her head, looking at Hendery not understanding. "I don't understand, Prince."

Hendery turned his head, "You think so much about the people while I only think about how to solve the gap."

Amabel smiled then shook her head. "Prince, I may look like that. But I believe you think more of the people than I do. If the Prince really wants to settle the gap, can the prince eliminate this hierarchy of nobility?"

The two of them faced each other at a distance of five steps. Hendery's silence was considered Amabel's answer. "If not, forget what I said before. I am sure you will do great things for the people later. I hope the Prince will pay more attention to the cause-and-effect of a rule. Don't bother the people and close your eyes to their suffering."

Hearing that Hendery could not help his smile. "Why is a great woman like you here? You should have left the palace and school to become prime minister."

Hendery's wish he finally let out. "Hey, if you fail this test, will you be my right hand in making a decision?"

Hendery's offer is so tempting. However, there is only one more test to determine the seven candidates who pass. Hendery was still smiling, "you know, it would be a real pity if you ended up as an empress. I never brag about anyone's abilities and I really want you to get into government. Your thoughts are absolutely necessary for the advancement of this kingdom. It's really unfortunate if you end up as empress."

Amabel did not answer. The girl was busy staring at the end of her shoes. "A princess can never choose, Prince. Whether it's to contest the election of the Prince's future wife, or to marry someone else. They never had a choice when a dignified man came knocking on the door. Or when someone says to marry him."

The words of Amabel again struck Hendery in a landslide. The guilt arises and persists in the esophagus. He can't apologize because Amabel said she wanted to leave. Hendery doesn't know if there's a girl who doesn't like this election. He thought Amabel entered the palace according to his wishes. In fact, he was wrong.

That night should have ended with laughter with his family, but it didn't. When Amabel returned to her family home. He didn't even get to say goodbye.

Looking at Amabel who was standing at the side of the drinking table, the King finally approached. "I'm really sorry."

Amabel immediately saluted. "Your Majesty, there is no need to apologize. My family has something to settle and it is not the fault of His Majesty the King."

"How big is your heart." King's Word.

"I learned a lot from my father. Of course a great heart is also obtained from the kindness of His Majesty the King." Reply Amabel while bowing small.

His Majesty the King looked at the lowered Amabel. An attitude that must be done when dealing with the King. "I heard you were fighting the Second Prince."

King Yanha nodded, "you are satisfied with that victory?"

"A knight is never satisfied with a victory." Amabel's answer made the corner of King Yanha's lips rise.

"You should be satisfied." The reply sounded so painful.

In other words the King said that Amabel was not a knight. Her hand on the dress strengthened. Why would he be humiliated like this tonight? Just because she was here as a potential empress. How low it is in the eyes of others. How much he hated being treated like this.

Even though Amabel never looked down on others. He never felt small, even though he was surrounded by great people. But today, a king humiliated him. How broken Amabel's heart is tonight.

"Your Majesty," call Amabel still clasping her dress tightly. "As a citizen can I ask you one request?"

King Yanha raised one eyebrow, then nodded. "Say, the daughter of Duke Lancaster."

Amabel held her voice so as not to squeal. "As a King, I hope His Majesty the King will stop cutting off the wings of others. Neither in deeds nor in words."

"You think my words hurt you? Even though it's reality?" Reply His Majesty the King. Sounds cold.

However, Amabel was too angry to care. "A forced reality will hurt others. How good it would be if you could look upon others with the same compassion when you look upon your son."

"How b-"

"If you can't do it, you don't deserve to be king." Finished Amabel said that, to the knight standing guard directly pointed the sword at his neck.

The movement sparked the attention of the people present. Rumors popping. From his place, Ian was just paying attention. "Do you know if that's what a traitor says?" Reply King, colder and more terrible than before.

Amabel this time looked up, looking straight into the King's eyes. Somehow that gaze made Yanha's feet take one step back. "If you can't even accept input, then everything is said to be treason? What kind of law is that?"

Duke Hamilton advanced, asking the knights to lower his sword. "Your Majesty, please forgive Amabel. He's-"

"Duke Hamilton, with all due respect. Whatever I do I'll be responsible." Cut Amabel. Let's solve this problem now. "How can a King be so selfish with his words and actions? You casually destroy a child's dream, many times. What royal rule only afflicts its people?"

King Yanha looked at Amabel, then understood the direction of this conversation. "Ah, so you're talking about the future empress. You shouldn't try so hard then."

Hearing that Amabel laughed, "you might say so after deliberately using magic paper as an answer sheet. You deliberately chose the magic paper to know who didn't seriously answer it, right?" Amabel stood up, so upright and her gaze drew Yanha's eyes. "From the beginning, somehow you wanted me as a future empress."

The last bomb was dropped. "I'm not Lalisa Celine. So, stop using myself for the survival of this kingdom!"

Amabel knew her tears were flowing. The goddamn wheel chain! Stop tying his neck this painful. Take off this chain and let it go free.

"Will be wise if you think of his words." Her Majesty the Queen is approaching. He gave a sign to the knights to release Amabel. "Duke Hamilton, you can take Lady Lancaster to her room. Your Majesty, let's talk about it in the room."

Adena Ivanov touched Yanha's hand and led her into the palace. Arion, who had heard all these conversations, understood why Amabel had left. Her chest hurts. If there was one thing he could do for Amabel, he would do it. Whatever it is, how expensive it is.
