The Only Daughter Of Lancaster

The Only Daughter Of Lancaster
Part Twenty-Four: Final Exams

In the morning when Amabel opened her eyes, Kier hugged her tightly. "Mr princess forgive me. I'm guilty."

"Kier, I'm not calming anyone right now." Reply Amabel is tired. Kier finally regained consciousness and immediately released himself. "Today the final test will be conducted. I don't know what the exam will look like, but the organizers say it's a placement test between the candidates and the Prince."

Amabel did not care and just nodded. He let Kier wear a white dress with a gold accent on the edge. Her hair was allowed to decompose with leaf-shaped clasps. Kier had to put a lot of decoration in Amabel's eyes. Of course his eyes are swollen to the point of having to be compressed with ice water.

"Kier, I want to wear red lip color." Amabel.

This brought Kier's movement to a halt. "Mr Princess, I'm sorry. I can't do it, it's a color for dishonorable women."

*******. Why should there be a special color for *******? Ah, how proud they are for having such a special color. "Put the red color in the middle of my lips and then overwrite it with a pale pink color."

Kier did. Who would have thought that technique would look good on Amabel's lips?

"Wuah, it's so pretty." Admired Kier.

Amabel just smiled. In the reflection of the mirror again he found Celine's face. Ah, now Amabel understands. Either Celine is comforting or remembers that the wheel of fate is still spinning between herself and Celine. Depressing.

Kier could see the sadness in Amabel's gaze. How much Amabel suffered. Kier felt sad because he could not be his back. "Sir, forgive me for not being a good person all this time. But I am grateful to be able to serve you. My prayer is still me. I pray that the princess is happy."

Happy huh? Must be a funny joke. Amabel also hoped that she would have to go through three lives. And happy is still vague.

"Thank you, Kier. You too, seek sure happiness." Amabel then stood up. "Let's end this all."

And walk on a new patch.

The examination room this time was the labyrinth garden. There were already ten servants holding ten red wool threads. Ten noble princesses gathered, Amabel who fulfilled it. No one spoke because His Majesty the King and Queen were already standing in front of them.

Both of them smiled as if there were no problems the night before. "Today we will know the seven princesses who will become royal consorts. Of the ten threads, seven were held by the Prince and the rest were held by the soldier. At the end of this garden, the Princes would also choose each of its red threads. This will determine your destiny. Whether you become empresses or have to go back to your homes. So, let's get started."

Amabel smiled immediately. He has hope. Three out of ten opportunities. Had he chosen warriors he could have returned home without needing to think about the consequences his parents would face. He glanced towards Her Majesty the Queen. She said nothing, just smiled at him.

Justjust please. Justjust please. Please let his hands take the soldier. The king clapped his hands, attracting the attention of the noble princesses. "Because last night Lady Lancaster was being disrespectful, on this exam you're going to vote last."

Amabel gawked while the others chatted. Their chances grew even greater while Amabel could only choose the rest. In the end Amabel took the corner thread. The first girl started walking, followed by the others, and the last Amabel.

Please make these three possibilities. Justjust please. This time, let Amabel live quietly. This time only. Every step of the way, Amabel kept repeating the same thing. Pray that this red thread will lead to one of the soldiers instead of the Prince.

Amabel is not a lucky person, even always losing if playing luck. This time, the bad luck will come. Although Amabel kept begging, her heart felt heavy. Amabel knew when trying to avoid what happened was the opposite.

Just like today. He tried to avoid the Prince, but before him was the Fiveth Prince. Arion now looked at Amabel in disbelief. He buried his hopes last night. When I had to meet Amabel today, she wasn't ready. As soon as his eyes met those of the moon, his heart pounded again. But quickly he nodded. He cannot be weak.

Amabel herself sighed, probably because last night she left Arion and her statement to the King made Arion hurt. Amabel wants to apologize, but her agreement with the Queen stops her. He must endure.

The universe is so funny. Both are close together but at the same time given a distance as far as the moon. Both of them were only one step away while holding a red thread in hand, but the distance between them felt like splitting the earth. Adena can't even believe that Amabel and Arion are pulling the same red thread. He then glanced at his son who was with the daughter of Baron Killian, Callista Valery Killian. Could he have chosen the daughter of a baron?

Adena is eager to curse whoever the planner is behind this test. However, his intentions will be obvious. Meanwhile Ian stared at Amabel, followed by the girl in a pink dress in front of him.  Dorothy Lauren Esmee has heard of the sword match. He did not think he could win the Prince's heart. How could he do it while the Prince had given it to someone else?

While Alterio was only scolding the princess in front of him with a judging look. Beautiful, elegant, yet too beautiful. Ah, he's ruffling his hair. "What's your name?"

Alterio narrowed his eyes, then flicked his hand. "Geez, good thing you're not with Ian, Ryu, or Noah."

While Jeanne was just staring at Alterio confusedly, Noah was already staring at Rachel full of admiration. "You know me?"

Rachel tilted her head, confused. "Forget? Yeah, course. You're the Prince of Seven, Noah Frank."

"I'm Noah and because of my cousin Jeanne, so I'll call you Rachel. You should call me Noah." Said the man with a big smile.

Rachel chuckled then nodded. "All right."

Iris Agatha Conrad had only been able to glance at Hendery who seemed uninterested in him. However, then the man turned his head and raised one eyebrow, making Iris look down. Hendery sniffed his shoulders then looked at Amabel and Arion. There is a strange attraction between the two. I don't know what, but Hendery can't explain it.

"You're interested in magic?" Ryu turned to the girl beside him.

The girl shook her head, "i'm more interested in you."

Hearing that made Ryu choke. "Well, what's your name?"

The girl smiled, "please if you're interested in me too. I'm Megan Reese McKenzie."

"okay."

"alright. Well then, we'll do the engagement in spring. That's why you can get to know each other first." Obviously Her Majesty the Queen. "Treat your partner well because they are the determinants of your future."

Adena stared at Amabel and Arion. The woman smiled and continued her speech. After that, they were given free time to talk. Amabel turned to look at Arion, "there's something I want to say. Wanna talk?"

Arion nodded. Unlike the first time they met, this time Arion did not have much expression. Amabel was sad to see it. But maybe this is better. The two chose to walk following the flow of the small river in the palace and stopped in front of the lake.

The wind swept across both cheeks. Even flew Amabel's hair to Arion's face. Fragrant and soft. Unlike Amabel who looked at him sharply.

"You may have heard my conversation with the King." Open Amabel. His eyes looked at Arion, after finding no expression there he looked back at the flow of the lake. "I never wanted to take this exam in the first place. I never intended to answer the question in earnest, but when I got the magic paper the consciousness slapped me. There will be punishments for those who do not really answer the test or who are very wrong. On the second exam, the King strangely gives a question about the puzzle. What I have heard from my father and my teacher. I guess it was just a joke, but it's the same. I don't know what the king meant until you get back. Everything looks clearer and more real."

Arion clenched his hands, tightly. But he did not cut Amabel's words. "I was tormented by this until I hoped fate would bring me the chance to go home. But it's not that easy. So, Prince, I hope we can work together in the future."

Arion understands what Amabel means. It actually still hurts. "You don't have to worry. Before spring I'll go."

Amabel was eager to ask where Arion was going. However, it only survives in his throat. Arion grunts, but Amabel doesn't care. "I'm going to the battlefield. Srela's men began to attack again and this time it might be a long time."

The wind rubbed the cheeks of the two. Arion who was staring at Amabel tried to recall the girl's face in memory. While the silver-haired girl felt the lake before her was more attractive. "Then I'm gone." Arion said as he turned around.

Amabel clasped her dress tightly. He said nothing until he heard no more footsteps. The girl turned around, looking at Arion's back which was shrinking and getting further and further away. "Prince, come back whole and safe. That way this guilt will be reduced."

He closed his eyes and squatted. His chest was painful and tight. How could he feel this sad when he had only talked to Arion twice? How could he ... fall in love and be devastated in the near future? Amabel shed her tears.

Just like the love that he could not greet, this time he even had to say goodbye before meeting.
