The Rise Of Rim

The Rise Of Rim
Chapter 7 - Working as a blacksmith

Blacksmith Borgeus. Located on the outskirts of town near the river. The creator of the store was Borgeus, a man in his 40s who supported his small family.

Have a wife and one daughter. Every morning, he woke up his wife, then took a bath and had breakfast. After that he went to work from morning to night without stopping.

His life was not much different from that of ordinary people. He has a harmonious family, complete and happy with good finances and a steady job.

But behind it all, he has a considerable burden. Working alone sometimes makes him tired so he thinks to recruit workers who can work under him.

Louis was his first candidate. He was in a room full of strange things lying everywhere.

Armor, broken weapons, material to rat shit. At the end of the room, there was a large furnace with a large burning fire blazing incessantly.

In front of him, a large table the size of a dining table lay a wide variety of forging equipment, such as hammers, gloves and others.

It was a suitable room for forging except for the cleanliness in it, the room was very smelly, Louis even covered his nose shortly after he entered, until finally, he got used to the foul smell.

"The room is dirty, but it's okay, I won't be long in this place until I get the money and get used to the life of a rim. Now, where's the material?"

Looking back, he stood in front of the table, behind him, seen several storage crates that stored a wide variety of useful materials.

"Borgeus said that the material in the crate was leftover material, so I could use it freely."

Louis turned around and walked towards the storage crates. Up there, he opened a chest filled with various iron.

Now, Louis thought of using the iron to make a quality sword. While Borgeus was busy keeping the shop, he had to make the most of his time.

"System, Activate the craft!"

[Craft enabled].

System lights. As always, the system gives a transparent blank screen, it is no different than before.

Shortly before the craft was activated, Louis had already thought of the sword he wanted to make in order to shock Borgeus. As a matter of fact, whatever the shape of the sword, it would be of quality and stronger than the original.

So Louis would make a simple yet powerful sword.

The system describes the sword that Louis wanted to make. It had a wooden handle and a long sword blade with a size that was quite large, it looked like a western sword.

[Material needed]

[Wood: 10]

[Iron: 30]

"good. But isn't this very short, I think I should wait here some time before showing the sword to Borgeus."

Louis stared at the screen of the system where the system depicted the sword.

The longsword or longsword was the sword used by medieval European knights. This sword is often carried on the battlefield and became one of the famous swords because it symbolizes a knight.

Unlike the Japanese katana sword which is slightly curved, the longsword is straight forward and the blade is slightly wide, also has a large size so that those who use it must really have a strong physique.

While watching the sword, Louis gathered all the materials needed to make the sword. He looked for all the materials in the room, not difficult because the room was filled with abundant materials.

After some time later, he finally gathered all the materials on the blacksmith's table, 10 wood and 30 iron, all complete, Louis just had to put it into the system.

"It's so easy." Louis said.

He inserted one wood and one iron simultaneously into the system screen.

[Wood: 1/10]

[Iron: 1/30]

The number really increased, Louis had to put 9 pieces of wood and 29 pieces of iron to complete all the pieces.

After that, Louis put all the wood and iron into the system screen. One by one he piled up to fill the screen, but the system screen immediately swallowed it slowly.

[Wood: 8/10]

[Iron: 25/30]

The number keeps growing over time.

[Wood: 10/10]

[Iron: 30/30]

In the end, the numbers were filled to the brim and the system immediately began the making of the long sword that Louis had described.

[Craft started!].

"Eventually as I imagined,"

Louis pulled the longsword from the system screen, first holding his wooden handle and pulling the sword to the surface.

The sword finally pulled out and revealed its shape, it was indeed exactly like the longsword in medieval times, only, this longsword was made of iron.

Because the longsword was usually made with steel that kept it intact and strong, but the sword that was in Louis' hands right now was almost equivalent to the original longsword.

"What if I show it now?"

After some time later, Louis finally came out of the blacksmith's room and confronted Borgeus at the reception desk.

Borgeus looked at Louis who came out with a confident smile in his mouth.

"Looks like you're excited" said Borgeus.

"Of course, you'd be surprised to see the sword I created" Louis said.

With a sword in Louis's hand, he placed it on the reception desk that Borgeus could see in its entirety.

Borgeus seemed surprised at the beginning, probably because the design was neat as if made very long.

"What is this, you actually finished it in such a short time?" Borgeus asked with a surprised expression.

Not the design or checking the sword first, Borgeus instead asked Louis the time it took to make it.

Usually, a sword is not made in a short time, it takes a long time and high precision to even make one seed.

However, Louis made the sword in no time. It was possible that there was a sword made in a short period of time, but the quality and design would not be as good as what Louis had made on the reception desk.

"You have to examine this sword and pass judgment on it," Louis said.

Borgeus unwillingly held the sword, he pulled the handle and looked at the blade closer. Even if he saw it, it was a sword of normal quality.

However it only appeared on the surface, the power of the sword was better than any iron sword, but Borgeus would not be able to see it because he could judge the sword only from its blade.

Therefore, before he tried his strength, he had thought that the sword was not much different from any iron sword. The thing that surprised him was the time it took Louis to make it.

"You're very talented, I admit, but how do you make it in such a short time?"

Well, this is the case, but Louis could not hide the facts for a long time, therefore, he would add a little lie.

"It's magic, I'm able to use it" said Louis who made the borgeus in front of him startled instantly.

"What! Magic?!" Shouted borgeus.

"Shhh. please shut up, Mr. Borgeus," said Louis quietly.

Magic, it was real in this world, but its users were very few, only a small population of living beings could use it, excluding monsters and beasts.

For a rim, magic was extremely rare, even extremely rare, those who could use magic among the rim were limited to only the nobility and kings.

Therefore, Borgeus was very surprised, right now, he thought the rim in front of him was a noble.

"A-are you a noble?" Ask borgeus.

"You can call it that,"

"What is a noble doing in my blacksmith?"

"Didn't you hear me? I want to work here,"

"But, you are a noble, you can do many things, why do you want to work under me?"

It seemed that the rims had their own fears for the nobility, it was only fitting that they would obey king Thorin to fight against the snow Orcs, perhaps they were afraid that, if they refused, they would die.

Louis smiled faintly, he could take advantage of his new status.

"It doesn't matter, for sure, I want to work and earn money. How, lord borgeus, do you accept me?"

"What did you say?! Of course I will accept you, you can start working today as well,"

"Don't hesitate to tell me,"

"B-well," said Borgeus.

To be continued...
