The Romance Seru
Demigods and God's miracles

"Greetings, Princess of Sparta, my name is Alastair. I'm here to pick you up"

A red-robed young man bowed respectfully before Jill. Alastair had black hair with a pretty handsome face line. Like the clothes of the Greek knights, the young man wore leather pants with the upper body part exposed. He carried a bow and arrow and a short sword with a deer skin.

Alastair came carrying two chariots full of treasure. High quality silk fabric rolls from Libya, jewel-encrusted swords and daggers, gorgeous jewelry, gold coins and some marble statues. All of them were wedding gifts from the God of War to the king of Sparta.

Portia bowed back to Alastair, but the corner of her eyes glanced at her brothers and sisters who could not hide her delight at seeing the pile of treasures. They laughed and some shamelessly approached the curious horse carriage with its contents.

"Due to your attitude, they are messengers of the God of war" the King of Sparta rebuked softly. He looked unaffected by the treasure, all he thought of was Portia. Any amount of treasure will not be able to replace his favorite daughter.

"What is your relationship with the God of war? I thought she would come by herself to pick me up" Jill in Portia's form asked innocently. However he was going to take someone's daughter away, Jill felt disrespectful to only bring an envoy.

The Queen of Sparta hurriedly pulled Portia's shirt warning.

"You talk, my son, this is the messenger Ares we met. Ares is the God of Olympus who could not possibly lower his status and set his great foot on the land of men" Whispered his mother riled.

"I am a demigod, one of the relatives of the Great God Ares. I am his follower and soldier" Alastair explained. She purposely ignores Jill's questions about why her future husband didn't show up for her.

Demigod said, Jill immediately realized the nature of the Olympus gods who like it arbitrarily. They are often told to sow seeds everywhere both fellow gods and non-immortal (mortal) people. The child of a god and mortal marriage is called a demigod.

Jill is familiar with some of the names of famous Greek demigods such as Hercules or Odysseus. Alastair may be just one little unknown demigod, or his role has not been significant enough that it is not worthy of the poets' inclusion in their rhyme.

The gods came to the women they liked and made them lovers. The women who gave birth to the offspring of the god are usually not insulted. Quite a number of demigods, though born from illegitimate relationships, can become kings, queens or war heroes.

Given Ares' extraordinarily cunning and heartless character in Greek verses, what Ares did now does not live up to his reputation. Ares can kidnap her and treat her as she pleases after becoming pregnant or getting bored Ares can dump her.

Jill still guessed what reason Ares wanted to marry Portia honorably besides the fact that Portia had the nickname of the most beautiful Princess of Greece.

Seeing Ares' envoys now in the Spartan Palace, Jill hesitated. Are they really the messengers of Ares? What if they were actually a king or prince from another kingdom whose proposal to Portia was often rejected by the king of Sparta? They could have claimed to be Ares's messengers knowing that no king should oppose the gods.

"Prove that you are indeed messengers of the god Ares not messengers of the king or prince of another country" Jill said, looking at Alastair's eyes seriously. The look on Alastair's face turned flat, he didn't seem to like the Spartan princess challenging him. But Jill had to do it because she didn't want to end up in a lowly noble bed that wasn't worth Portia.

Alastair raised his right hand, a vulture was seen flying from behind Ares's entourage. The bird landed right in front of Jill. Then Alastair fed it with a strawberry-like fruit that was purple. The vulture touched him in one swallow.

Jill and the rest of the palace hall watched a show they had never seen. The vulture shook and expanded its wings. Then the bird screamed loudly as if it had received an injection of adrenaline. Clumps of muscle and pulse clearly protrude from behind the feathers. His body grew rapidly until it was almost as big as a horse.

The now gigantic vulture shrieked again and arrogantly flapped its wings, creating a strong gust until it dropped many items around it. He then flew again towards Alastair and stood beside him with his eyes ready to hunt.

The Spartans were stunned. They had just witnessed a miracle of the gods. The entire hall immediately insisted on worship. The vulture is known as one of the pets of the god Ares. Now that he has witnessed the miraculous transformation, Jill must finally believe that they are Ares's messengers.

Jill during her life in London could be said to be almost atheist. Jill often claims to be an agnostic who does not believe in any religion. The concept of ancient Greek belief for him was far-fetched. But the transfer of Jill's soul into the body of a Spartan girl named Portia miraculously inevitably makes her rethink her faith. And now he saw himself a vulture turning into a giant that he could not explain logically. Is that what you call magic?

'I'll prove to myself whether the Olympians are real gods or not' Jill was determined as she grabbed Alastair's hand which would guide her up the carriage.

Jill pondered again, in the time Jill lived there was such a thing as magician. Even Jill had seen firsthand David Copperfield's show flying in bubbles circling the theater without a safety cord. That giant-turned vulture could be a super-sophisticated magic trick.

For the ancient Greeks, one or two magic tricks would easily amaze them and worship the magician like a god. But it's not that easy for Jill.

Jill flashed her best smile to Portia's parents and family for the last time. Then Jill entered the dark-colored horse carriage made of agarwood wood. And the gallant horses of the war god began galloping out of the palace. When the king of Sparta and his army tried to accompany him, Ares' entourage had already vanished without a trace.
