The Roof You Promised

The Roof You Promised
Section 37 - Go home

It has been almost two hours since the arrival of Dea and Dira. And for two hours Herjuno chose to go down to the bottom floor chatting with Gumilar.

"The first year of marriage is going to be a lot of testing." Gumilar opened another topic after they had both talked about random things that were less important.

"As the head of the family, you should be more careful in making decisions. You should know, when to counsel, when to be angry, when to rebuke, when to be silent, and when to persuade." Gumilar sighed softly.

Herjuno just listened.

"Surely deep down, Dad would not have been willing if Aurorae had married a family man. You know she's Dad's only daughter. I want all the best in his life. When she chose you to be her husband, I tried my hardest to reconcile with my own expectations. From then on, I entrusted Aurorae's life and happiness to you." Gumilar turned his head, staring in the bead of Herjuno's eyes.

"Don't make you regret your decision one year ago" he said, patting Herjuno on the shoulder.

"I'm sorry, Dad. I hurt Aurorae a lot." Herjuno lowered his head, not daring to look at his father-in-law.

Gumilar nodded his head. "No man is perfect, I believe you always try your best for both wives. Only sometimes, we have to learn more about setting priorities based on the situation. I pray for the best for your family."

Their conversation came to a halt as the sound of footsteps approached.

"Om we say goodbye. Sorry to forget the time." said Dira sungkan because it looks the sky out there that began to darken.

"Don't hesitate. Thanks for coming." Gumilar receives Dira's hand.

"Thank you for coming." Herjuno uttered the same sentence when addressing Dea.

And the woman just nodded flatly. But then smiled kindly as he turned to Gumilar.

Aurorae hugged them for a while before the two actually went home.

Herjuno stroked his chest slowly as the car carrying the two brothers came out of the courtyard.

"Is it just me that Dea feels like she's hostile to me?" Herjuno turned to Aurorae.

"No, Dad feels that way too. He's hostile to you." The gumilar.

And Aurorae chuckles. "I'm sorry, Madam Dea just loves me so much. Don't be mad at him in the office." Aurorae was twitching spoiled on her husband's arm.

"Dea your subordinates in the office?" Gumilar asked.

"Yes, Dad. But lately he has not been afraid of me. Every passerby always glared at me so." Herjuno scratched his non-itchy nape.

And Gumilar chuckled.

"Mbak Dea is not glaring at Mas. His eyes were wide so looking at people like they were going to be angry." this time Aurorae was laughing.

"Don't be mad at him. Don't make it hard at the office." Aurorae needs certainty.

"No. I'm not mad. I should even thank you, she and her sister love you so much." Herjuno stroked the top of his wife's head.

Silently Gumilar smiled watching the interaction of the child and his son-in-law. Herjuno loved Aurorae very much. If Aurorae was injured, it would have been unintentional.

"Relse. It's dark, don't get used to leaving the kids alone." said Gumilar as he entered his room.

The only room on the first floor, occupied by Gumilar.

Bi Izza, on the second floor right next to the children's room.

Herjuno grabbed his phone that was ringing since earlier.

"I pick up the phone is okay?" ask her to Aurorae while raising her phone.

Aurorae. "Yes, just outside Mas , worried Ryana is distracted."

Herjuno. Rubbing Aurorae's head slowly and then peeking her cheeks made Aurorae laugh and pushed Herjuno slowly so that her husband would come out immediately.

"Comeout. The sound of your phone is noisy." he said in the midst of his coldness.

Herjuno stepped towards the second-floor balcony, leaning his body against the terrace barrier.

"Yes, Me."

"Mas, you're not coming home anymore? It's almost nine o'clock." Megumi's voice clearly resists upset.

"I'm tonight at Aurorae's house huh." replied Herjuno gently.

"Mas! You've been there eight days, that's right!" Megumi squealed in annoyance.

Ah right, it's been eight days since Aurorae gave birth. And since then he has never been back to Megumi's house.

"Me , I'm sorry. But Aurorae just gave birth a few days ago. I'm worried he's a hassle." Herjuno tried to persuade.

Megumi was silent for a moment. "Is there no one there? Remember Mas Haidar is also your son!"

Megumi disconnected the unilateral call. Herjuno heard clearly, the voice of Megumi holding back the cry.

Surely he also missed Haidar, for a week he had not embraced his son.

But leaving Aurorae now, it felt impossible. Herjuno was afraid that it would make Aurorae's mood worse.

He sighed softly and then turned towards the children's room.

"Have you?" Aurorae asked as Herjuno entered the room.

Herjuno. "Is Ryan asleep?" he saw Aurorae raising the bed.

Ryana and Ryan sleep next to each other. Aurorae deliberately ordered a bed with a barrier for the children's room compared to a baby box.

Aurorae. Approaching her husband and hugging him tightly. "Who calls these nights?"

Herjuno was silent for a moment. Considering what to tell Aurorae.

"Egumi. He asked me if I was coming home" he replied carefully. There is no point in hiding it from the Aurorae.

"Go home Mas. You haven't been home in a week." Aurorae did not let go of her embrace. Nor was she surprised when Herjuno said Megumi called.
