After I – Endo Suzune – lost consciousness inside the bus, I woke up and found myself in a dark room made of stone, lying on the floor.
There was a chill in the air, making me shiver and quickly awakening my senses; the room felt like a cool air-conditioned room in the middle of summer. I wear a thin layer of clothing that feels stiff and rough on my skin. Besides, I only have a thin blanket. No wonder I was cold. My neck feels very heavy – there is a metal collar and chain around it.
Whatisthis? The coldness of the ice pierced my spine as I pulled the blanket tighter around me. I huddled up, trying to maintain warmth. Then, as my little body shivered, I fearfully looked around the room.
Me where? It was a gloomy room with no furniture or windows. There was no room like this in my memory, but for some reason, something felt untrue. It was as if I had seen it before, but it was not .. Like an indescribable feeling of deja-vu.
At that moment, the door opened with a clack. My shivering body jerks. With doubt I diverted
I looked at the solid door to see a little boy standing there. He looked in a bad mood, as his face was marked by an aggressive expression.
I accidentally screamed. “Eek!” Since I – no, the other me in me– knew the boy before me.
Name's Stewart. We have no blood relation, but he made me call him ‘kakak’ and treat me like a pet, on the grounds of discipline.
“Hm? Whahuh? What is this?” Looking at my reaction, Stewart's expression sparkled happily. Then, like a child getting a new toy, he came to me half-run.
“Eek! Away ...away! ”
All of a sudden, I said words that were not in Japanese; it was not the language I recognized as an elementary school student from Japan. However, my words came out with a lisp, wobbly odd in pronunciation.
“Hey, what's wrong with you today? Why are you acting so frisky?” Stewart asked me with a bright smile, making me curl reflexively into a defensive position.
“J-Do not .. hit me .. please!” To not disobey this person is ingrained into me on an instinctive level.
“Wow, you never talk this much. You have to react like this every time .. Then I can treat you a little differently, at least.” Stewart laughed with a grin, then ripped the chain from my collar violently.
“Kya!” I lost my balance and fell to the floor.
“Hei, Latifa. Show your face properly. ” Latifa. That's what Stewart called me when he pulled the chain, and my face was brought before his eyes. He looked excited, as his breath came out violently which made my entire body goosebumps.
“Eek .. T-No...” I cried and shook my head. Stewart's face slumped unhappily.
“Why are you speaking impolitely? What am I for you?”
“K-Kakku.”
“Betul. So what was that? ”
“A-i .. sorry! Please forgive me!”
“You really talked a lot today. I usually have to order you to do it before you open your mouth. What's wrong with you?” Stewart asked me, but that's what I wanted to ask.
“A-I don't .. know!” My name must be Latifa .. But at the same time, I am also Endo Suzune.
“... Hmm. Well, whatever.” Stewart checked my face for a reaction, but soon lost interest. Relief swept over me, but the next words pushed me to the bottom of despair once more.
“I came because I was upset, but now I change my mind. I'll play with you today.”
Understanding the bad intentions behind his words, my face instinctively twisted in misery. Stewart carved a menacing smile onto his face with a grin.
The more my reaction came to the surface, the more happiness he would get from torturing me. The other in me – Latifa – is already aware of that. That was why Latifa was completely suppressing her own thoughts.
But Endo Suzune is different. Yes ... Endo Suzune's part of me was very opposed and hated the fact that I was a slave. From that day onwards, my nightmare of reality began.

Chapter 3: The Connection
Two days after their departure from Amande, Rio and Latifa finally crossed the border into the eastern region of the Galarc Kingdom.
From this moment on was the Wilderness, where their first challenge was immediately waiting for them. The Nephilim Mountains are mountains that divide the Wilderness of the Strahl region in a single vertical line, with elevations ranging from 2000 meters to 5,000 meters.
In addition, more mountains continued to pass through the mountains; vast deserts that were not beneficial for Strahl humans to explore. It is called: Wilderness. To cross the gate to that remote land, Rio ran at full speed. Behind him was the small figure of Latifa.
“How are you?” Rio called Latifa, who was running behind him. He stopped along the mountain slope.
“I ... is fine,” Latifa replied with a nod, but her breath was somewhat out. Meanwhile, Rio's expression was still calm and comfortable.
“It's a little early, but let's make camp for today. I will prepare everything, so that you can rest. Make sure you rehydrate yourself,” Rio said, marking the end of their trip for the day. Hearing that, a terrified expression appeared on Latifa's face. He hurriedly lowered his head.
“A-I .. sorry!”
“... Why are you apologizing?” Rio asked calmly.
“I ... slow you down .. Ah ... Ma-Will you leave me ... behind?” Latifa asked, hanging her head. The second part of his sentence was so calm, it faded before it could reach Rio's ears. But, he could guess what he said from the atmosphere in the air.
“You are not a burden at all. We are in the mountains now – If we rush forward too fast, we will experience altitude sickness. That's why we're camping here now. It was because of necessity. ”
Rio scratched his head as he tried to explain everything in as gentle a tone as possible. Hearing that, Latifa heaved a sigh of relief. Since making a conclusion about Latifa state, Rio did his best to treat her as best as possible, talking to her whenever he could.
By doing so, he thought he could eliminate some of his anxiety and encourage him to participate in more conversations, developing his language skills. However, Rio was not a psychologist, and he actually did not have a social personality from the start.
If anything, he's quite clumsy in terms of relationships. That is
why he was mostly observing the situation for the time being, maybe he was clumsy. I'll do the best I can. Hopefully everything goes well. He can only do his best with this situation. With that thought, Rio went to set up camp. That night, their latest problem occurred shortly after the two of them slept.
“Wah .. wah .. uwaaaah!” Inside their pitch-black tent sleeping – small and only built to cram both of them– Latifa suddenly burst into tears.
Rio's eyes opened wide and he immediately looked towards Latifa, who was lying next to him. She was crying with her eyes closed beside her. It was a baby's night cry, that's how it is. Although it varies from person to person, children who cry at night at Latifa age are rare. However, Rio did not know why he was crying. After all, he was fine the day before.
“Hey what's wrong? Are you all right? Are you hurt?” Rio asked her desperately through his unceasing tears.
“Eek! No. .. Where am I? Someone save me!” Latifa muttered in her sleep as tears continued to flow down her face.
“It ... Japan ...” Words coming out of Latifa is a very familiar language for Rio – no, Amakawa Haruto. He's really dumbfounded. However, Latifa eyes remained closed.
“What is it ... detoxification?”
Rio realized that those words had been spoken unconsciously. But since it only spoke while he was sleeping, his words were a shocking statement. Latifa suddenly gripped the robe that Rio used as a blanket, pulling him closer to hold onto her. He had been silent and only sniffed, now, but still showed no sign of stopping his tears.
“What should I do ..” Should he wake her up, or should he let her sleep like this? Not knowing what to do, Rio just lay there, confused.
