The fifth day or the last day of conducting the examination as a new disciple will begin soon.
Athletic Exam. All students in grade 1-E were gathered in the second sports hall. In this school there are 3 sports buildings, the big one like the football stadium is the main building and the remaining two are smaller buildings.
"This is it" said Mr. Smith as he sat behind the table. "To this day, I want to see how fast you guys run and judge your agility."
"Good!"
The students replied out loud, making their voices echo for a few seconds.
"Sir Smith, sorry to interrupt. Why are athletic exams done alone while written exams are done together with a partner?"
Lina asked Mr. Smith a question, fortunately he did not put on a creepy face that made them afraid. If I were to ask, maybe he would give a different expression.
"It's easy, because it's an athletic school. So we will continue to do the written exam or the Academic exam in pairs and for the athletic exam part, it must definitely be alone."
"Oh, so yes. Thank you, Mr. Smith!"
"Either. Now, Wijaya. Get ready on the track! The student with the lowest grade yesterday had to do it first."
This time it was not me, but Wijaya who became Lina's partner. If not wrong, Wijaya got a score of 57 on the test yesterday. Only 3 different grades from me.
Then Wijaya approached the running track and prepared there.
"Looks like you made it."
"What?"
Elaina crossed her arms to me and said something, I think it would be really bad if Fisa saw this.
"Stop, Elaina! She already has a boyfriend."
"Ehh. I don't care."
"What did you say?!"
A dire situation might be imminent, Lina approached us and rebuked Elaina's actions.
"Three of you, don't be noisy!"
I'm still lucky, Mr. Smith scolds me and looks this way. Making Lina speechless and Elaina let go of her hand.
"When the whistle goes, you have to run one round."
"Good!"
Vijaya replied firmly and after that.
"PRINCE!!!"
Mr. Smith blew a whistle in his neck and his voice rang loudly until it echoed.
Hearing the whistle, Wijaya immediately ran as hard as he could. I could see that he was very serious about running one round.
Half the turn is 50 meters away, so one turn is 100 meters away. In short, this is a sprint test.
Wijaya's leg stomped the ground while running on the track. Mr. Smith watched closely as Wijaya circled the corner, increased the speed, and then ran across the field. He recorded his time on paper.
One round was completed by Wijaya. Mr. Smith tells us that the best runners tend to have certain qualities. They should be fast, graceful and intelligent. More importantly, they need to be able to think fast while maintaining focus and continuing to concentrate.
"Vijaya, 15 seconds. Rest, you have ten minutes before the next exam!"
Wijaya was given ten minutes to rest and drink water before starting another speed test.
The first speed test is running.
My first job was to learn to run. There are many ways to do this. Some people prefer to stretch their muscles and warm up before they start, others like to jog on the track for a few miles. They may find and enjoy one particular style of exercise more than the next.
Running Techniques. There are two main styles of running: the sprinter approach and the marathon runner approach.
The fast runner method uses short, sharp bursts of energy to propel them forward at maximum speed.
The marathon approach feels slower. They feel their legs move more easily and smoothly.
"Next, Satomi Adney! Get ready on the track!"
"Yes." Yeah."
According to the orders, I walked to the track section and then when the whistle sounded, I ran straight away. I'm aiming for 15 seconds just like Wijaya.
His reason?
I don't know either, I just want to do it for 15 seconds.
"Satomi Adney, 14 seconds. Rest up!"
"Yes." Yeah."
"Next!"
I'm one second more than expected, I hope it won't be a problem.
"How's it?"
"Not as expected, I want to get 15 seconds."
"You don't sweat at all, even your breath looks normal after running."
"Is that so? Should I pretend to be exhausted?"
"Don't do it, it's gonna get suspect."
"Hmm. okay. I want to take a walk."
"Walking or going out?"
"Maybe that includes."
Finished with a short conversation, I got out of the gym and took a leisurely walk around. I shouldn't be away from this gym building because it would be very troublesome if I was late for the final exam.
After a few minutes, I decided to go back.
The second or last speed test.
Mr. Smith called the students back inside the building where he had set up several stations. Each station represents a different type of obstacle: obstacles, stairs, ropes, beams, and rings. These obstacles will assess their agility, balance, and coordination. The sooner they complete it, the better the value obtained.
Mr. Smith explained the test specifications. The students must complete each station as quickly and efficiently as possible. What's more, Mr. Smith explained about the 9 stations to be completed.
First Station: The first station is a simple wooden platform. It is about 5 feet tall and 30 inches wide. The goal here is to jump straight up and land right on footing without falling.
Second Station: This is a narrow board that is laid horizontally on two parallel wooden boards. To pass, they must step from board to board while jumping over the line drawn between them.
Third Station: Here they will find the rope ladder. Climb up using the stairs and then step onto the footing above.
Fourth Station: This is a horizontal pole that is balanced above the rest. Step over the line and take the crossbar on the other side. Then come down again.
Fifth Station: This is a perpendicular beam that they must pass through.
Sixth Station: When they reached the seventh station, they heard a loud clanging sound. Suddenly, the ceiling shook. The footing below them started to rise. They had to jump up and grab the bar on the other side.
Seventh Station: At this point, the floor under their feet also began to tremble. They had to jump up and grab the bar on the other side.
Eighth Station: Now the floor seems to be moving under their feet as they jump and grab the crossbar on the other side.
Ninth Station: The ninth station is a pair of parallel beams laid horizontally. Jump between the two, then run to the finish line.
When all parts of the body cross the finish line, then the time will stop and that is the result of the final exam.
Whether it was bad luck or something, Anthony also came to this building and saw the exams we did.
"Since this is the final test, you can apply to be the first to do so. Additional value must be given to those who apply."
Good chance, I will present myself and finish with half my strength.
Usually I never use my strength at all, even a quarter is very rare. But this time, I had to do it because Anthony would see me and if I let him down, he would tell me I was holding back. If that happens, it will have a big impact in the future.
"Then let me do it."
"Huh?! Are you serious? I'm not sure of your abilities."
As expected, Mr. Smith doesn't trust me.
"Just do it, Smith! You mustn't underestimate your own students."
Anthony who had sat down immediately stood up and walked towards Mr. Smith. He rebuked her and told me to let me be the first to do so.
"Ah, okay. Don't disappoint me!"
In the end, Mr. Smith agreed.
"Take it seriously, yes. Satomi."
"Sure, Anthony!"
"Enough, get ready at the starting line! When the whistle rings, you have to do it."
"I understand."
I walked closer to the station and prepared at the starting line. By the time I got there, the whistle went off. Forcing me to move using half my strength.
I ran, jumped, and stepped carefully. Some stations passed quickly enough that at the ninth station, I jumped between the horizontally mounted beams and ran after them to the finish line.
"39 seconds, I'm surprised you did it that fast. Are you using a trick or something?"
Mr. Smith looked in disbelief after I finished it.
"You can't suspect him, Smith. Satomi is a student that I believe in her potential and you see now, she's finished in 39 seconds."
"Yes, okay. Satomi Adney, 39 seconds. You can go home now. Make sure you're more serious in the future exams."
"Good!"
After that, Mr. Smith told me that the grades I got were good enough to qualify and that I would not drop out because of it.
Without thinking about anything else, I walked right out of this sports hall. It felt quite relieved, I was still able to hold back and managed to trick them. I also felt relieved because after such a long time, I had finally expended half of my strength.
