Along the way to Snow's old man's house, the two of them just kept quiet. The atmosphere in the car that Winter was driving was completely silent. Today, Winter chose his beloved Blue Mini Cooper. He also wanted Snow to be a little closer to him for the last time. That's why he chose this little car.
“You hear music?”
Snow, who had been staring blankly at the wide street behind the windshield, was surprised by Winter's sudden voice offering music as a silent breaker between them. Snow shook his head, but Winter still grabbed the small monitor on the car's dashboard and connected the bluetooth to his phone. The song that some of these days always play Winter when alone. Yesterday—the Beatles.
Snow remained silent. The song seemed to be a slap and the thing Winter wanted to say to her. In silence, Winter pervades every lyric that greets his dragon.
Followed by the next song that now, make a pulse of pain in the heart Snow drain the fog of tears. Winter was saying that to him.
“Bi-can be turned off only. I'm not in the mood to listen to music.” pinta Snow, for Winter to end the song Love of my life from the 80s band, Queen.
Winter responds to Snow's request. He pressed down on the stop, and the atmosphere went quiet again. No conversation or pleasantries reprimanding each other. The mood has completely changed.
Looking at the honey-brown wooden fence made Snow's heart pound in chaos. Usually, he would be very happy when he saw the house. But not for this moment. All the courage in him he risked, even he was also prepared to accept a hatred that would be given by the father or the mother. Or both. Snow was ready to accept that because he wanted the marriage, he was also the one who asked for this farewell to happen.
“I won't be long. I'll just talk about my purpose in coming here.”
Yep. Snow knows Winter is not a person who likes to mince words. But Snow hopes deep down that Winter will stay at his parents' home longer so he can survive the slur of questions that might corner Snow's whereabouts.
In contrast to his heart, Snow nodded in response to Winter's words. “Yes. Up yours. There's nothing more we need to do than say our main goal is coming here.”
Winter nods, turns the car's steering wheel and opens the car door to press the bell for the security guards guarding Snow's parents' house, opening the gate for them.
Snow who could no longer endure the turmoil in his heart, massaged the temples the longer, the heavier. Not to mention the pain in his private area and stomach that has not completely disappeared due to miscarriage, Snow now rests his head on the back of the chair. Open a little bit of her lip blade so that more oxygen enters her lungs and helps her calm down.
Until he finally saw Winter running back towards the car and along with it, the wooden door shifted automatically.
Winter again stepped on the gas pedal and took his Cooper mini car into the spacious courtyard of the Scott family home. At first glance, Snow and Winter's beads meet, and Snow finds a warm smile on Winter's lips.
“I will accept whatever your father says later. You just shut up and don't say anything. Understand?”
...***...
Winter and Snow sat on the living room couch. Not far from their seats, there were two large Viber suitcases that Snow had brought with him a few weeks ago when he left home.
Soon enough, Papa and mama Snow appeared with wide smiles that slowly receded upon seeing the unusual sight. Scott even fused his eyebrows when he saw the anxious Snow, and the two Viber suitcases he knew so well belonged to.
Scott sat down and rotated his eyeballs towards Winter. Trying to figure it out with body language, demanding a plausible explanation of the strange sight before his eyes.
And it worked. Winter straightened his back, arranged the increasingly tight air flow in his chest, then began the conversation with a warm greeting.
“Good afternoon, Papa.” said. I don't know when he called Snow's father papa. Is it today? Or just for today?
“Actually, what is this? Why did you come without telling me first. And why were Snow's two big suitcases brought here?” scott asked, not wanting to hold back the longer the curiosity about what really happened.
Winter looked at Snow. He squeezed his knees with both palms, then sighed softly. “I, want to drop Snow back.”
Scott doesn't understand. His eyebrows are getting wrinkled.
“I just had a miscarriage, Pa. And I want to stay here for some time.”
“What? Miscarriage?” scott asked in surprise, as he had not heard the news of Snow's pregnancy at all. And now suddenly his daughter came and brought news of grief.
“Iya. Snow miscarried two days ago. And the doctor told Snow to rest really without doing anything. Sister Winter is worried that Snow will do things she shouldn't when Winter's sister works. For that reason, Sister Winter advised Snow to stay here for a while.” Snow obviously at length so that the papa believes in the reason they came.
Winter gaped. He looked like a dazed person who had just been slapped hard by a reality. Why is Snow lying? Why would Snow want to cover up their divorce?
“Ah, so so.” sahut mama Snow, relieved. He had guessed about the bad thing that happened between the child and his daughter-in-law. “Then we will take good care of Snow until he recovers and can return home for Winter.”
A stiff smile Winter gave. The scenario Snow created was too difficult to deal with in the end, and would instead create new problems for the two of them later when the two men found out all the lies they both had.
“Actually—”
Snow grabbed Winter's palm, then squeezed it gently to the point of not making the presence just turn around without being asked. He stared expectantly so that Winter would not say their farewell issue, at least for now.
“What exactly, son Winter?”
Winter turns her eyes toward Marry, Snow's mother. “Se-actually i-that's what I was about to say to mama.”
Forced, Winter follows Snow's scenario.
“Alright then. Auntie, please bring Snow's suitcase into her room!” tell Miss Marry one of the maids who works at their house. Then allow Snow and Winter to rest.
Arriving in Snow's private room, which had just entered Winter's, the man took a peek at Snow's soft pastel room with some digital displays that looked very beautiful.
There was a large bed with white bone bed linen, and a cream latte-colored blanket. Two nightstands on the right and left are decorated with sleeping lights, then not far from the bed, there is a small dressing table and a work desk complete with a wide-screen computer. Then, on the other hand, there is a wardrobe made of glass, and a bathroom.
“Does sister need anything? I can ask it to aunty—”
“No. I'll be back after this.”
Snow was pushed back by reality until his chest pain felt so agonizing. He knew he shouldn't have done anything stupid to lie to his parents. Now, he can catch a disappointed look on Winter's face.
“Ah, yes.” Snow paused his words for a few seconds. Then again raised his face to look at the presence of Winter who might not be willing to look again, or set foot in this house. “The problem I said earlier, I am not ready to say it to papa and mama. So I beg you, as long as our divorce is still in a further stage of proceedings, keep this a secret from my parents. I don't want them to be disappointed in me.”
Winter rubbed the nape of his neck, then nodded in understanding. “Yes. I-i know. It's our best to keep this a secret until we're completely separated. I hope they will forgive our lies.”
Snow screeched stifled in heart. He sat his body on the bed until it caused a small reflection. His eyes were sharp when he found the shadow of Winter printed on the floor of the room that felt so cold. “Yes. When the farewell has come, I will tell them myself. And sister Winter, do not have to say and bear the consequences of the lies I have made.”
Winter was silent when he heard Snow's explanation.
“I don't want the name Winter's sister to be bad in front of your mom and dad, so I'll say it myself.
Snow opened the bag, and pulled out the stopmap Winter had given him. The sound of knocking on his shoes and the floor clashing was clear as Snow walked around the bed to his desk to pick up something.
Upon Snow's return, Winter is increasingly shocked and cannot accept easily all the fact that he will part with Snow, and it is real.
Winter had no hope when Snow opened the Stopmap, checked the contents of the divorce papers carefully, then put the signature on the stamped paper.
“I won't complicate this parting, because I asked.” Snow closed the ballpoint again, then raised his face and smiled towards Winter. “Thank you for accepting my silly and stupid idea.” Snow continued, thrusting a Stopmap to Winter, then throwing your face in a doomed bow
Winter did not give a smile like before. He was now looking straight at Snow who was also staring at him. The gaze that normally looked so cold, now felt so warm. “I'm sorry, it made you take a decision like this.” []
