...•...
Winter's luxury car stops in front of a law firm owned by his old friend. He brought a stopmap that some days haunts his sanity to almost make it stressful.
Maybe this will be the best decision. Because if he keeps his relationship with Snow, Amora won't stay silent. So, with a heavy heart Winter continues her divorce lawsuit to the court through the Herald, a lawyer and his best friend since sitting on the bench of Junior High until now. Although they rarely meet because of their respective activities, they often communicate by phone.
The step foot of the level passes through a stretch of sliding glass doors that open automatically. Inside there, it looks quite boisterous. Winter took a step towards the reception desk.
“Good morning, father. Can I help you?” ask the receptionist in a friendly tone.
“I've made an appointment with Mr. Herald. Is he in his room?”
“Ah, wait a minute. I will confirm to his secretary first.” replied to the receptionist while lifting the phone and pressing the number 1 which will connect the call to the Herald room.
After a short talk, the receptionist smiled kindly at Winter, then allowed her to head to the third floor, where the Herald was located.
Upon arrival, Winter follows the back of the Herald secretary, who takes her to the lawyer's office, leaving the two of them sitting opposite each other in front of an elegant, gray sofa.
“During not meeting. Turn to meet, I have to show you a sad news from me.” Winter's clumsiness, leaning back on the back of the sofa.
Herald laughed. “Again, why are you suing for your wife's divorce? Your marriage is not yet a month old, but why would you want to part from her?”
“There is a complicated problem that I cannot solve other than parting with him.”
“I've told you before. Talk about your problems. You need independent mediation. Speaking with four eyes, looking for the cause of your moses cannot be in line. Try once again if you fail the first try.”
“She refused, and I have also decided to continue the trial.” Winter replied, thrusting a blue Stopmap on the table which the Herald then took to check.
“So, he signed it?”
“Yes. He did so, without thinking long or wanting to think about wanting to start over.”
Herald nodded. He understands and will not force his client to continue to undergo mediation if the final decision is determined.
“It's my fault, Herl. I started all the complicated problems in my own household to end up like this. Snow never complained about our marriage. She was also pregnant before I did something I should never have done. She's a good woman, and will definitely find a better replacement than me after we part later.”
“Are you sure there are no other problems? Third person for example?”
Winter shook. He knows that all problems are rooted only in themselves. “No. Snow was a woman who rarely hung out with others. He also does not have many friends, just a few.”
“Then, Amora?”
“He was my lover since sitting in college, we had time to end the relationship when I decided to get married. Lately, everything has changed more and more. He didn't want to part from me, and threatened to do anything to keep Snow away from me. Plus the heartache of Snow because of my treatment some time ago that made her miscarry.”
”What?”
In front of the Herald, Winter can reveal all the burdens in her heart. Maybe this is the job of a lawyer. Besides they help solve a case, they can also turn into a container to pour out a very trustworthy heart.
“I'm jealous of one of Snow's friends who used to be his neighbor. I pulled and dropped Snow to the floor out of emotion, then Snow miscarried and I was so sorry to have done that to her. Herl, please help me.”
Herald straightened his back. He breathed too hard. This is where it is to become a lawyer. “So now, what's your decision? Are you really going to end your relationship? Or are you asking me to propose an acceleration of mediation so you can introspect each other and get back together?”
Winter was silent for a moment, thinking of the Herald's words which of course had a point. But everything was like a vast ocean that had no end. Winter doesn't know the direction, and he's afraid of getting lost and carried away by the currents that will lead him to the vortex and drown there. Then, Winter stared back at the Herald for quite a while, until the sentence he held so as not to pass through the esophagus, whipped it up. “Our divorce process.”
...***...
Snow was busy drawing today. His mood was quite good, and he also started to take back commission image orders from clients. His health condition is also much better, although abdominal pain still often comes and is quite disturbing when Snow is doing his job.
After trying to reconcile with herself for days, she finally accepts the harsh reality of her married life with Winter. He thinks they are not a match, that's why God separated them again. And Snow hopes Winter will be happy with her choice later.
Jessy Calling's...
Snow smiled. He put the stylus pen on top of his iPad. Shifting the jumping button was full of excitement, then greeting Jessy in a cheerful voice, chatting for a long time until her ears were hot. Until one chat that somehow just popped up after accidentally Snow told me about her divorce plan with Winter.
“Do mediation.”
“Mediated?”
Jessy worked for nearly two years at a law firm before being accepted into her current workplace.
“What is mediation?”
“Setauku, if I do not remember wrongly, mediation is a dispute resolution process through negotiations or consensus of the parties. There is a mediator who will help you, but he does not have the authority to break or force a settlement.” Jessy explained at length. He knows a little about this. “Not just a dispute anyway, divorce can also be said to almost have a similar meaning, and need to be mediated.”
“Then, what is the purpose?” ask Snow innocently. He doesn't know anything about something like this.
“Solve and find a way out a problem by negotiating. Mediation usually lasts for 40 days, and can be extended by the next 14 days, if needed.”
Snow nodded in understanding.
“The mediation process lasts at most 40 days from the moment the mediator is chosen by the parties or appointed by the chairman of the judge's assembly when the first hearing is conducted. On the basis of the agreement of the parties, the period of mediation can be extended no later than 14 days from the expiry of the period of 40 days.”
Actually, Snow doesn't really understand. But he listened carefully to every word Jessy said to him at length.
“But, the mediator is also obliged to declare that mediation has failed if either party of you two, or the lawyer whom you believe to have twice in a row not attended the mediation meeting according to the agreed mediation meeting schedule, or twice in a row not attending mediation meetings without reason after being properly called. The mediation will be declared a failure, and the judge will take a decision for the relationship of the two of you, by then.”
Snow seemed to think. Shall? Will he be able to return to withdraw his request to part from Winter?
“Hah, it turns out that even for divorce, it is not as easy as I imagined.”
Jessy was silent and did not respond. He knew his friend was worried.
“Try. Who knows, you can keep your marriage, then you can fix everything and you are getting longer.”
“So yeah? I'll consider and talk to Sister Winter.”
Of course it's just an excuse. Snow is unlikely to do so, he already has a unanimous decision to part ways with Winter.
“Thank you for your advice yes, Je.”
“Okey.”
After that, the call ended. And Snow was back in the shadows. “Mediation, should I do it?” ask Snow to yourself. “But, would Brother Winter want to do it?”
However, amidst all the anxiety he felt, Snow received a single message on his phone. A message that made his heart beat chaotic and wanted to meet the sender immediately.
Can we meet? I want to talk to you about something.
I'm waiting for you at YOLO cafe, five o'clock in the afternoon.[]
