Dzunnuraini's full name is ‘Utsman bin Affan bin Abi Ash bin Umayah bin Abdi Shams bin Abdi Manaf al Umawy al Qurasy, at the time of Jahiliyah he was called Abu ‘Amr and in the Islamic period his nickname (ancient) was Abu ‘Abdillah. And also he is titled as “Dzunnuraini”, because he married two daughters Rasulullah shallallahu ‘alaihi wassalam namely Ruqayah and Umm Kaltsum. His mother was named Arwa’ bin Kuraiz bin Rabi’ah bin Habib bin ‘Abdi Shams who then embraced a good and steadfast Islam.
Preeminence
The Muslim Imam had narrated from ‘Aisha, saying,” One day the Prophet was sitting where his thigh was open, so Abu Bakr asked his permission to cover it and he allowed it, then his thighs remained in their original state (open). Then Umar asked permission to cover it and he allowed it, then his thigh remained in its original state (open), when Uthman asked permission to him, so he took off his clothes (to cover the thigh open). When they were gone, I (Aisha) asked, ”O Prophet, Abu Bakr and Umar have asked you for permission to cover it up and you have allowed both, but you remain in your original state (leaving your thighs open), while when Uthman asks you for permission, you take off your clothes (worn to cover them). So the Prophet replied,” O Aisha, How can I not be ashamed of someone whose angel alone is ashamed of him”.
Ibn ‘Asakir and others explained in the book of “Fadhail ash Shahabah” that Ali bin Abi Thalib was asked about Uthman, so he replied,” Uthman was a man of honor called Dzunnuraini, where the Prophet married him to his two daughters.
Life journey
The journey of his life that has never been forgotten in the history of Muslims is that he posted Al-Qura’an in one version of reading and made several copies sent to several Islamic countries. And ordered Muslims to rely on him and destroy the mushaf which is considered contrary to the copy. By Allah's permission Subhanahu wa ta’ala, through his actions, Muslims can maintain the authenticity of the Qur’an until now. May Allah reward him with the best.
It is narrated from by Imam Ahmad bin Hanbal in his Musnad from jonah that when al Hasan was asked about the man who rested at noon in the mosque?. then he replied,”I saw Uthman bin Affan resting in the mosque, but he was Caliph, and when he stood there was a pebble on his ribs, so we said, ” This is the amirul mukminin, he said, This amirul mukminin.”
Ibn Abi Hatim narrated from Abdullah bin Umar, saying with the word Allah”.
“(Are you a more fortunate polytheist) or a person who worships at night prostrating himself and standing, while he fears the (decision) of the Hereafter and expects the mercy of his Lord? Say: “Are the same people who know with people who don't know?” Verily it is the wise who can receive lessons.” (Qs Az-Zumar 39:9)
this is Uthman bin Affan.
