16. "Mother is not a widow."

Vioni walked out of Doctor Bryan's room with a blank look. The girl seemed not excited after hearing the doctor's explanation and the advice given to immediately do the treatment of his disease. Vioni wants to be cured and free from the disease, but she does not want her family to make fun of her and scold her for suffering from the disease.

"Vio, what's wrong? Why do you look so moody?" erich asked when he found his sister walking while bowing her head.

Vioni shook her head. He stared deeply at the two eye beads belonging to his older brother.

Had I told Erich the truth, would he still love me like this? It seems like yes, it's just that maybe he'll be more worried about me. While I didn't want that to happen and saw her with a gloomy face thinking about me, Vioni's inner self guessed the brother's reaction if she said this to Erich.

"Vio, tell me, what have you been hiding from me? Why don't you look okay?" erich asked while holding his sister's shoulders.

"Sir, I have something to say. But, can we get out of here first?"

"alright. Let's go to the park. You have to tell me all your secrets, okay?"

"Hmmm, yes, sister," said Vioni in a soft voice. He will try to convey this situation to Erich. Whatever the man's reaction will be, he will bear it.

The two walked out of the hospital lobby. Erich immediately opened the car door for Vioni to get in there. After that, he walked around the car to get to the driver's seat.

Without saying a word, the two of them seemed to be silent with their respective thoughts. Vioni is currently calming her heart and reassuring her feelings in order to be more open to Erich. This is his last chance before tomorrow he will part ways with his brother after officially marrying the man named Maximilian Green.

After driving for almost 15 minutes, Erich pulled the car over at the edge of a city park. Vioni also came down without waiting until her brother opened the car door. Both of them sat on a bench not far from the car.

"Can you say it now?" erich asked his sister.

Vioni turned to her brother for a moment. The girl still seemed hesitant to tell Erich the truth.

"Vio?" Erich tried to call Vioni.

Her younger sister still faithfully lowered her head as if she was heavy to say her honesty.

"Sister, if I were to have a severe illness, what would you do to me?" vioni asked in a soft voice, not much different from the person who was whispering.

"Whatchu mean? Are you sick right now? What diseases do you suffer from? Since when do you have it? Who knows about your illness?" erich asked. Vioni can hear the sound of worry from her brother.

Vioni did not answer him directly. He was still silent and it again made Erich have to be extra patient in order to get a definite answer from his sister.

"Vio, please answer my question. Don't make your brother worry!" pinta Erich while looking at the younger brother who was still loyal with his head lowered.

"Sister, actually I have cancer, and the doctor advised me to run chemotherapy–"

Like being struck by lightning in broad daylight, Erich was instantly speechless at his sister's answer. The man shook his head in a sign that he did not believe Vioni's words.

"T–no, Vio. Please don't joke like this! It's a pretty dangerous disease. You can't have it" said the man still in shock.

Vioni smiled faintly when she saw the reaction of the older brother. In reality it was true that Erich was finally worried about him too much. From the way the man spoke, Erich was extremely unaccepted with the illness that was currently eating away at Vioni, his younger sister. However, maybe it would have been different if Vanila had suffered it, she would have believed it right away.

"Why do you think I won't have the disease? Isn't that a natural disease that can be suffered by anyone?" vioni asked in a soft voice because Erich did not immediately believe him and doubted his honesty.

"Ma–I don't mean like that, Vio. It's just–"

"Is it because I was declared healthy as a child, that you doubted that the disease was attacking me?" vioni asked cutting Erich's words.

The man lowered his head. He really did not expect that it turned out that not only Vanila had a disease, but Vioni disease was also no less severe than Vanilla.

"I'm sorry, Vio. This news really makes it hard for me to think clearly and think that you will always be healthy" Erich regretted that he thought his sister was lying to him.

"Then, what are you going to do next? Are you gonna tell this to Mom and Dad?" erich asked his sister.

Vioni shook her head slowly. Nor does he know what to do next. It's not easy for her to make a big family believe in her illness, Vioni just doesn't want them to think that it's all just a setting to attract attention and affection. It was not without reason that Vioni thought that way because this incident was not the first time. Vioni used to be sick with DHF, but they did not believe her and only said that it was a common fever and only leave Vioni to the nanny. Plus at that time Vanila was also being treated in the same hospital because of his illness that suddenly recurred and it made his extended family more worried about Vanila.

"It would be better if this were not known to Father and Mother, Brother. I don't want them to be disappointed to have a sick child like me" he said.

"But, Vio–"

"Please .. I promise, I will say this when it's ready later" said Vioni as he arrived.

Erich exhaled heavily after hearing his sister's request. Vioni's nature like this cannot be interpreted as stubborn or worried for his parents. So, the only way right now is just to accept the girl's request, while in the future she will think of other ways because Vioni's disease can not be left alone.

"alright. I will comply with your request," replied Erik who immediately made Vioni develop her smile.

"Thank you, Brother. You are the only one who understands me the most" said the girl.

Erich was only speechless in response to the younger brother's words because what came out of his lips at this moment did not match his heart. So, for the time being he only needed to make Vioni believe his words.

After explaining the illness suffered by Vioni, a pair of brothers re-entered the car because it was getting dark. Erich has to bring Vioni home because his little sister will have a wedding tomorrow morning. As an older brother, Erich could only hope that his younger brother would soon get happiness from the man who would later become Vioni's husband. For him, it is enough now that Vioni is constantly succumbing and lying to himself and his family. So, she wanted her sister to be able to express her feelings like Vanilla.
