CHAPTER XIII - I will defend you

After making sure Chris had eaten and taken the medicine, Chris' mother also brought the dish used to eat her son and put it in the sink.

While washing, the old woman's mind remembered her pitiful-looking child's face and she still had to wait until the child was able to fall asleep in peace.

Drying her hands with a kitchen rag, Chris' mother saw the files her son left behind last night at the dinner table. He also sat there.

When he arrived earlier, he had seen the files and saw that his son-in-law had signed the divorce papers.

He actually knew that his son was uncomfortable with his marriage, but never dared to tell his mother. The two of them even decided to make a show in front of him, making the old woman finally more and more urge the two to have children.

Never thought that his son was serious and wanted to separate from his wife. The old woman rubbed her eyes which let out tears. He felt guilty for his son and his ex. All this happened because of him. Sorry mom, Chris.., Rina...

The next day, the bell rang. When it opened, Chris' mother saw that the one who came was Lukas, the company's lawyer.

"Good morning, Mrs Dieter." Saying that guy is smooth.

The man named Lukas is of medium stature. Her skin was pure white and her face was slightly feminine. He has red lips and a sharp nose.

No one would have thought that such a man would be able to behave sadistically while in court. No one would have thought, that the man likes to play women and cheat many times behind his wife. A really jerk guy.

Chris and his mother don't really like the man's lifestyle, but given that Lukas is very competent at his job and he never mixes up his personal and professional life, they finally closed their eyes on it.

"Luke. Please enter. You want to see Chris?"

"yes Madam. We were supposed to meet at the office, but since Mr. Dieter was sick, he asked me to come here." He explained sympathetically.

"Wait here. I'll call Chris."

After telling Mba Sum to prepare drinking water for the man, Chris' mother went into his son's room.

Before long, the old woman came out of the room and asked Luke to come in. His son wanted them to talk in the room.

Arriving at the room, the perlente man closed the door and turned to face his superior. Lost his manners.

"Dieter, what's wrong with you? Why not go to the office?"

The two of them were actually college friends first. Luke previously worked as a partner in one of the city's largest law offices, but due to his carelessness he was eventually fired for being caught cheating on the wife of one of his client's friends.

Although not directly related to his profession, but eventually he had to accept the fact that his senior partner was protecting himself. If he is not fired, then the client will help his friend bring this matter into the realm of law.

The incident was not to make Luke deterred, but he actually became more careful in choosing his playing partner. He may avoid choosing those who turned out to have the same circle of association with him.

The thing that might make him quite miserable is that it turns out that this client is spreading less bad news to other law firms, making it difficult to get a replacement job.

Just as he was hanging out, Chris reached out for him. Luke thanked his friend and promised to always help him. He could not promise to change his lifestyle.

"I'm sick."

"Yes, I know you're sick. But why?"

Luke approached his friend who was sitting leaning on the head of the bed. His face still looks pale.

"How's the case going?" Chris switched the conversation.

Realizing his friend did not want to tell a story, Luke finally followed the plot.

"Just calm. It's been handled by CorCom's department. He will not be able to sue, it is precisely this time that we are preparing demands for him. He can be punished long enough."

Chris clenched his hand, remembering when he beat the man in the face.

"Frankly, I didn't think he did either. He's one of your father's friend's children, right?"

"Yes. I also did not expect, people who had been schooled by my father apparently dared to stab him from behind."

"He's very stupid. Just for a few billion dollars, he had to spend the rest of his life in prison. Poor wife and child."

Chris snorted cynically, "You feel sorry for his family? Did I not hear wrong?"

Luke raised both of his hands, "Hey, no matter how he was the backbone of his family. At least if you make a mistake, make sure your family doesn't starve."

At the moment, Chris does not want anything to do with the man or his family. Because her family has certainly enjoyed the illicit money of her husband.

"Yes, what about the old file? It's been 1 year, right? Is it signed?"

Luke suddenly asks, recalling the divorce papers he once managed for Chris. He is not a divorce lawyer, but considering Chris his friend then he wants to help him.

Hearing this, Chris was silent.

"I told you from the beginning, you better not marry her. Too much is at stake."

"Come on Dieter, your wife is of ordinary origin. Marrying her doesn't bring any profit to you. There was nothing special about him, even though he was quite sweet. But it's good that you're finally getting a divorce from her."

Unaware of his friend clenching his hand, Luke grabbed Chris's shoulder.

"I'm going to introduce you to an amazing woman. It's time you got out of your shell, D. You want to, right?"

Slowly, Chris took Luke's hand off his shoulder. A little hard, he stood up from his seat. His legs were slightly trembling, making Chris forced to lean on the head of his bed.

"My wife signed it, but she's not going anywhere."

Luke frowned.

"I don't understand what you mean."

"I'm not going to divorce her."

"You're crazy, D!"

The man was a little angry at his friend, painstakingly he was trying to take care of the divorce papers for his friend only to be canceled?

At that time, it was Chris who forced Luke to help him. And after that, even the man himself who wants to cancel it.

Refraining from seeing his sick friend, Luke breathed in to calm himself down. Luke is quite an emotional person, and he does not like his work to be in vain.

"May I know why?"

Suddenly the door opened, revealing Chris' mother who looked dislike.

"What's this about? You guys quarreling?"

The two men in front of him were silent. No one moves or wants to talk.

"Chris, Mom wants to leave this to you. You carelessly put it on the dining table. Let no one see."

Seeing his mother carrying the file he wanted to take, Chris slowly sat back on the bed. He received the file from his mother.

"Thank you, ma'am."

After that, his mother came out. They knew that the two men would continue their conversation.

Chris handed the divorce papers to Luke.

"If you've taken care of anything. I'm asking you to cancel it."

Luke opened it and his brows furrowed deeply. "Your wife..."

"I beg of you. As a friend."

Chris' words made Luke speechless. Just this time, he heard a desperate tone from his friend.

"I'll ask you one more time, D. What reason? At least I deserve to know."

The man was silent, he looked down deeply.

"I just know that I don't want to part from him."

"Why?" Luke was not satisfied with Chris's reply.

Sighing, Chris looked up at his friend.

"I needit. Needed it badly. Is that enough?"

Highlight Chris' sharp and piercing eyes, making Luke decide to retreat. The man had already made up his mind, no one would be able to change him.

"alright. I'll take care of it. Excuse me." Luke turned around to leave the room.

Know his friend was angry. Chris called.

"Luke. Thank you." Thank you."

Looking up, Lukas saw his friend smiling at him. This made the man return his smile.

"No problem, D."

After that, he came out of the room. Leaving Chris down, grasping the relic letter from Rina. I'll never let you go.
