Lina felt her head rubbing gently. The hand that touched it felt big and warm. He also felt that sometimes the hand rubbed his cheek and even slightly pinched it gently. Who the hell is this fad.
Opening her eyes, Lina looked around her room. Aware of not being in his own room, he slowly rose from his sleep. He saw his body covered by a thick blanket, which protected him from the cold AC.
After her consciousness was gathered, Rina was reminded of her ex-husband. "Girl!"
He immediately came out of the room to look for the man.
Lina was quite shocked when she saw that in the dining room there were already a few people gathered. There is her ex-husband, Chris' mother and a foreign man she has never met.
Chris' mother smiled at his arrival.
"Let's love."
With a doubt, Rina also stepped foot closer to Chris' mother. Unexpectedly, Chris pulled him over and he stood between the man and his mother.
The man placed his hands possessively on his waist when introducing himself. "Dok, my wife."
Rina's heart was beating fast. What does Chris mean?
Intending to ask him later, he also returned the doctor's hand.
"Hello. We just met. Call me dr. Herman."
Lina recalled Chris' words earlier this afternoon, and realized that this man was her ex-husband's doctor. It seems like their relationship is quite familiar.
Looking at the clock on the wall that shows at 21:00, Rina was a little surprised when she realized that she had been in this apartment long enough.
"Night doc. My name is Rina." she replied politely.
He actually wanted to say goodbye soon, but this situation seemed to be holding him back a little longer here. Lina did not want to humiliate Chris and her mother.
Lina stood up quite awkwardly. He doesn't know where to sit. The only seat left was next to the dr. Herman, and it seems strange that he's sitting there.
As he was thinking, Chris suddenly pulled him into his lap. Lina sat on the man's thigh. Feeling uncomfortable and about to stand up, Chris' hands hugged his hips even more tightly.
"Here you go. There's no other chair." His whisper in his ear.
The two old men who were in front of him were a little surprised, but then they continued chatting as if nothing had happened.
"So, is this your wife Chris?"
The doctor looked at the young lady in front of him with interest.
"Yes. This is my wife." Chris smiled proudly and observed the face of Rina in front of him.
Lina could only smile clumsily. He was in a situation he did not like at all.
"What do you do, Rina?" Ask the doctor back.
"I'm the Finance Manager at the dock restaurant."
"Wow, manager? Your career is pretty brilliant."
The doctor's comment made Lina blush in embarrassment. "It's usually Doc."
"He's very good at cooking." Suddenly Chris chimed in.
"Ah.. deserve you so lazy to eat lately, Chris. Is it because your wife doesn't want to cook for you anymore?"
The doctor seemed to be chuckling at his own words. It seems he can already read the problems of the young man in front of him.
Chris's face slightly blushed hearing the doctor's assumption that was really on target. Compliments for his wife backfired for him.
Feeling guilty for her ex-husband, Rina intends to defend him.
"It's not so doc-"
"Already doc. Let them solve the problem themselves." Chris' mother suddenly brokered this conversation. He felt sorry for his daughter-in-law who looked wrong.
"After all, isn't it time for you to go home? Poor your wife at home."
The doctor was seen glaring at the old woman opposite him. "You kicked me out?"
"Oh God. Are you having PMS?" Chris' mother glared back at her friend.
After a little debate between the two, dr. Herman went home.
When dr. Herman and Chris lived alone in the hallway of the apartment, the old man held the shoulder of the young man in front of him.
"Chris. You have to remember that there is a difference between a man and a woman." He began his advice.
"Men often use logic, while women use their emotions more. But that doesn't mean it can't be reversed."
"When we love someone, men use their emotions more and women use their logic more. You know why?"
Chris shook his head.
"This is my theory, based on years of experience."
"Men show more affection through their actions. Without him having to say anything, the people around him can tell about the man's feelings for the person he loves."
"Different from women. When he loves someone, he needs clarity and it's not enough just by deeds."
The old man smiled, remembering his life journey with his wife first.
"A woman somehow has a greater sense of insecure than a man. They need a claim and a claim."
He patted Chris' arm hard enough before continuing.
"When you love someone, never hesitate to say it. Say it clearly and firmly if you love her. Even though it's only once for a lifetime."
***
When Chris returns to the apartment, he sees his mother and Lina chatting in the dining room. He did not know what they were talking about, but his wife's face was clouded and her eyes reddened.
"What are you talking about?"
The man asked casually, but his heart was pounding hard. He had guessed a bit what the two women were talking about behind him. And he felt afraid.
Hearing Chris' question, his wife simply turned to the side. Refusing to look at him. Chris had a pain in his heart to see it.
The mother only stared intently at her daughter-in-law, and was seen clenching her hands. Taking a breath, he looked at the child.
"Chris, mama's gonna stay tonight."
This is quite surprising, because his mother almost never stayed at Chris' house unless forced.
Without hearing his son's answer, he added. "You'll sleep in the guest room."
After that, his mother moved from her seat. He stopped when he was in front of the door.
"And mamah would, so that tomorrow morning breakfast from your wife is already at the dinner table." He went into the room without looking again.
The atmosphere became awkward when only Chris and Rina were left in the dining room.
The man clenched his hands tightly. He doesn't want his wife to be angry with him, but he doesn't want Rina to leave his house tonight. Chris still wants to be with her. Next.
"Rina"
"We need to talk."
His wife's voice sounded firm. Her eyes were staring hard at her ex-husband.
"In the room."
After that, Lina went straight into the main room without waiting for her ex-husband.
Arriving at the room, Chris closed the door slowly. He did not want to fight with his wife anymore. His experience made him feel very guilty about his wife.
His wife was standing at the end of the room, her hands folded in front of her chest. Her face looked tense, just like a few weeks ago.
Before speaking, the woman took a breath. Trying to ease his emotions.
"Chris, you say, you haven't taken care of our divorce in court?"
Knowing that this would gradually be revealed as well, the man admitted honestly.
"Yes." Yeah."
"Why?"
"Because I don't want a divorce from you."
Hearing that answer, Lina pressed both her eyes and laughed ironically.
He dropped himself on the edge of the bed and raised his head. He almost laughed hysterically, fortunately his self-control of pressure was quite strong.
"You don't want to divorce me?"
Chris' heart ached at the expression of disbelief from his wife.
"You don't want to get divorced from me?" Lina returned to parroting while looking at the man.
Seeing that Chris was silent, Rina stood up from her seat. She did not expect any answers from her ex-husband.
"This is not Chris' joke!"
His tone suddenly rose. The woman felt her life had been played with.
Rina's face began to blush, emotions began to overwhelm her. Right now, he was completely furious at the man before him. Hasn't his life been ruined enough in the last year?
Chris tried to calm his wife. "Rina"
"You think I'm a woman Chris can easily play with?"
His wife's question surprised Chris. "No-no"
"Just because you have money, do you think poor people like me are easy for you to bully?"
The man scrunched his forehead. His heart was completely wounded, not expecting his wife to say such a thing to him.
"It's not so Rin-"
"But that's what you did to me during our marriage!" Checkmate.
Chris was completely silent. He doesn't know what to say.
Lina threw her gaze to the side. His face reddened, his nose bloomed trying to ease his emotions and so that he did not get out of control. He still remembers his in-laws in the next room. Bah, it turns out he still has in-laws.
After feeling pretty calm. He looked at the man opposite him.
"Remmediately take care of our divorce, as you originally planned."
Chris' eyes look teary. He did not know what to do for defense. It's all his fault.
"Rina..."
"I'm gonna take a shower."
The woman went into the bathroom and closed the door a little. Leaving Chris in his place.
Inside the bathroom, Lina looked at the look of herself in the glass. He saw himself again as a loser. After successfully setting her foot on earth with great difficulty, her husband instead tried to make her float back.
The experience of the past year has taught him a bitter life, and he has tried to accept it.
He accepted that Chris did not like him at all. She even accepted the fact that she was no one to her husband. He also wanted to try to be just a friend to the man, and nothing more.
But, what the hell is this? While he was still trying to style his broken heart, the man decided that he wanted to keep their household?
His body slumped to the floor and he hugged both of his legs. God, what have I done to face this trial?
Outside, Chris held the bathroom door. He wanted to knock it but did not dare. Faintly, he could hear the sound of sobs from within. How many times did he make his wife cry?
He finally decided to sit on the edge of the bed. Chris only realized that what he had done first turned out to be fatal.
During his marriage, he never cared about being taken to his household. Because from the beginning, he considered their marriage only temporary.
He realized too late that he needed his wife. He realized that he was bound to his wife.
Chris rubbed his rough face and pressed his two eyes which started to spit out water. He did not want his wife to leave him. But the thing is now, he really doesn't know how to save this marriage.
