CHAPTER XVIII - Grey Day for Rina

Meanwhile inside the restaurant, Lina faced several pairs of eyes looking at her. Most of them stared in awe, but only one person saw it with a different view.

"Cleinas. To my room."

When he passed by several servants and Chefs to follow Thomas, they teased him by making the scene seem to be kissing.

Seeing the behavior of her co-workers, it only made Rina smile and not respond too much. He went into Thomas's room.

Thomas was sitting behind his desk. His face looks crumpled and depressed. Though he had long since planned to make a confession of love to the woman who was currently standing in front of him.

Opening his desk drawer, he noticed a ring contact he had bought 1 year ago. Annoyed, he slammed it until the drawer closed. How damn he is!

Lina was calm in the face of the man in front of her. She was used to dealing with the emotions of Thomas who tended to rise and fall, especially she also had to face her husband's behavior that was precisely emotionless at home.

Situations in restaurants that are indeed stressful, can sometimes provoke someone to be able to scream and yell unconsciously. But still the goal is for professionalism of the work. Nothing is personal. To this day.

The man looked at Rina sharply.

"Who is he?"

"My husband."

Thomas clenched his hand. He gritted his teeth.

"You never said you were married."

"You never asked."

It was this stable emotion of Rina that made Thomas even more interested in her. He was already attracted to her when he first saw Rina enter his restaurant, which made him do everything possible to make Rina want to move into his place when it was, at that time, Rina has had a pretty promising career in the company before.

"When did you get married?"

The man was surprised to find this fact. He was just a step late from that jerk.

"How did you meet?"

Lina looked at Thomas intensely, her eyes starting to narrow.

"I don't think it's any of your business, Thomas."

Thomas suddenly kicked the table in front of him violently.

"That's my business! Because you're my employee!"

Lina was silent looking at the man in front of her. He did not like it at all that Thomas began to mix up his affairs. He does not like his personal life in the tinker-brain by others, let alone people who have absolutely no relationship with him.

The woman took something from the bag she was carrying. Which turned out to be his employee card.

He placed the card slowly on the table.

"If you don't accept having a married employee, then I'm willing to resign."

Thomas's eyes were pushy looking at the card in front of him. He did not expect that Rina would immediately take extreme measures.

"I will take care of his administration this morning. Excuse me."

Seeing that the woman who turned around was about to leave the room, Thomas immediately moved up and quickly blocked his wrist.

"Cleinas. That's not what I meant. Don't be like this."

Thomas' voice begged. He didn't want to until Rina left him. However, he threatened to lose a very competent employee for him.

Rina looked at her arm that was firmly blocked by the man in front of her.

"Take me off."

Thomas even tightened his grip, making Rina begin to frown with pain.

"Thomas, let me go."

"If I don't want to?"

Looking into the man's eyes, Lina realized that Thomas was serious. He had to find a way out of this situation. He does not want to use violence.

"Thomas, do you know why I took this job?"

Getting the unexpected question, made the man blink his eyes and unconsciously loosened his grip.

The woman immediately withdrew her hand and immediately retreated, seeking a safe distance.

"You know that I really like this concept of your restaurant? I even put it at home."

Rina's words seemed to wash Thomas's mind that had been covered in anger.

"I also really like your vision of mission, and how you treat your employees."

"But do you know the main reason that led me to accept your offer?"

Thomas's eyes looked at Lina, wondering.

"I accept it because I like money. And you were offering me a much higher salary than where I was before."

The man blinked his eyes, shocked by Rina's honesty.

"Know Thomas, I am a materialistic woman."

Lina smiled seeing Thomas just staring at her.

"You know who my husband is, right? Think for yourself."

After that, he left the room and left the restaurant.

Arriving at her car, Rina cupped her head on the steering wheel and exhaled loudly. I'm sorry Chris.

He was forced to use the name Chris to make it escape from his former boss. He had to stress to the man that Thomas would not be able to exercise his power over him because he had a much richer husband than him. Oh Chris, I'm really sorry.

After that, Lina left the parking lot. He also still does not know where he is going at the moment.

***

Later that afternoon, Chris and Rich arrive at the restaurant. Chris had already called Rina a few times, but her wife did not answer at all. He began to worry about his wife, especially considering the incident this morning.

Restless in his seat, Chris accidentally spilled a glass on his desk. This caused the tablecloths on their tables to get wet. Fortunately they had finished eating and were waiting for the bill.

Immediately, one of the servants who was carrying the bill approached them and cleared up the mess his guest had made.

When the work was done and looked up at his guest, the young servant smiled cheerfully. "Oh, you were Mr. Chris at the time. Is it healthy, sir?"

Rich who was checking the bill and took out his card, looked at the young maid and immediately recognized her. "You're the waiter who brought the water back then, right?"

The waiter looked at Rich. "Yes, sir."

Chris tried to remember the girl in front of him. She knew that someone had brought her some drinking water at the time.

His sharp memory immediately remembered the name of this child. "Cindy right?"

Surprised that the handsome man in front of her remembered her name, Cindy's cheeks looked flushed. He will tell this to his schoolmates later.

"Yes, sir." Cindy smiled very widely, revealing a row of her teeth were quite neat.

Chris's gaze softened a little at it. He saw the sincerity of this boy.

"Thank you for that time."

"It's okay, sir. I'm glad I could help you."

When Cindy is about to bring a bill and a card from Rich, Chris stops her.

"Do you know where Rina is?"

For a moment, the boy seemed to hesitate. Before he answered, he darted around, making sure no one was listening to them.

"Actually Lerina's mother doesn't work here anymore." He whispered a little.

Hearing the unexpected information, Chris' brows furrowed deeply.

"What's going on?"

"That morning it seemed like Lerina's mother had a fight with Mr. Thomas. Someone saw him slamming the office door and straight out of the restaurant."

"She resigned or was fired?" Ask Chris to make sure.

"Nobody knows. At the morning briefing, Mr. Thomas only said that Ms. Lerina would no longer work here."

The boy breathed, he looked sad. "When Lerina's mother was very kind. He often treats us and brings us his cooking."

Chris's hand on the table looked clenched. Rich's heart began to fret at the behavior of his boss, he had to prepare for the possibility that his boss would explode.

Before Cindy left, Chris also gave tips big enough for the boy.

"Thank you sir."

His eyes were teary, deeply grateful to the man before him. Rarely would a rich guest want to pay attention to such a small person.

After the waiter left, Chris moved to Thomas' office.

Seeing that, Rich tried to hold him back. He was afraid that his boss would be out of control like that time.

"Boss, about this -"

Understanding his assistant's worries, the man patted Rich's shoulder slowly. He smiles.

"Don't worry Rich. You just wait in the car."

Rich then sees his boss knocking on Thomas' office space quietly, and waits patiently in front of him. It seems like everything is safe.

Making sure that his boss had entered the room, Rich then went to take care of the payment and decided to wait in the car.

In Thomas' office room, Chris looks around a variety of charters installed on the wall. He had to admit that Thomas's restaurant was one of the best in town.

"What do you want to drink, Chris?"

Turning to face the man, Chris spoke only flatly. "I'd rather you call my last name, Dieter."

A little hesitant because of the unexpected reaction, Thomas immediately apologized.

"Sorry, Mr. Dieter. I didn't mean to offend you."

Chris only smiled faintly in response. "It's okay. I'm just used to using my last name for work-related stuff."

The man immediately invited Chris to sit on the sofa, but politely declined.

"I'll just be here a minute."

Not willing to waste the opportunity, Thomas also immediately opened the conversation.

"Pak Dieter, regarding your offer that time-"

"Do you still have my business card?"

Shocked by the sudden question, Thomas immediately pulled out Chris's business card which was still stored in his shirt pocket.

"Oh, of course."

"May I ask for it?" Chris held out his hand.

Confused, Thomas handed it over.

Unexpectedly, Chris tore the card into 4 pieces and stuffed it into his suit pocket. Not giving anyone the chance to see it. He was also convinced that Thomas had not been able to record his number anywhere.

Thomas was stunned to see what the man in front of him was doing.

"Sir Dieter, why-"

"There's no real reason. I just decided I would never work with a restaurant that treats its employees unprofessionally."

Thomas's face looked pale. How stupid he is.

Chris opened the door to Thomas' office and turned to the man.

"I hope we never meet again. Because if that happens, I'll just be Chris. Husband of Rina, my wife."

Afterwards, Chris closes the door behind him, leaving Thomas to mourn his folly. Today he lost 2 valuable things, his competent employees and also the opportunity to develop his business. And it happened because of his greed.
