Chapter 16 The Pseudo Hope

Lara is currently at Zaki's parents' house. The early stages of divorce are in progress.

"There is no divorce in our big family dictionary. From our ancestors to our own," her mother-in-law's voice boomed in the room. Lara simply bowed to look at the tablecloth without daring to raise her face.

"And you're suing my son for divorce. We still don't accept it. You can't get divorced. Until I can't allow it!" Her mother-in-law was angry with her.

"Your son loves another woman. What am I supposed to do?" Suddenly Lara dared to speak despite the shrillness. Reveal the truth of her love also the love of her husband.

Irene, the woman who allegedly had an illicit relationship with Zaki is currently sitting alone waiting for someone.

"They won't get divorced. Zaki and his wife will remain together until the end. Before this scandal destroys your career, please, stay away from my son. Don't see him again,"

While Zaki was being furiously infuriated by his father at the moment.

"So you're unemployed now? For the woman? See me? Did your father ever cheat on your mother? We lived together until you were grown up. We really appreciate our marriage and look at you? You're embarrassing you!"

"Him and I don't see each other anymore" replied Zaki. What his father meant was Irene, and an affair with him.

"I apologize to your wife. And don't ever repeat that!" advice from his father when they are alone.

Suddenly his mother who had just met Irene came in and stared intently at Zaki's face.

"I just met that woman. He said your son's marriage was just a contract and a deal!" Her mother stood next to her husband and pointed at Zaki's face with great anger.

"What!" This time her husband was no less surprised.

Zaki's head was hit hard. Zaki remained silent and did not dodge.

"You are so insolent!" His father will hit once again. But his wife prevented him.

"He must correct his mistake!" his mother said loudly.

His father will attack Zaki again with emotion this time. He was very angry and hurt. It turned out that during these three years, his son had deceived him as well as all his extended family.

Zaki was bowed in silence and was feeling guilty for both his parents as well as his extended family.

At the CEO's house, lara sits next to the suitcase she's about to bring back to Zaki's house.

The CEO sat near her with sadness and disappointment. The CEO thinks that Lara will split from Zaki. So that the CEO will accept himself and become his protector. But it turns out, now he must be heartbroken because his hope is only pseudo.

"I'm sorry for bothering you." said Lara as one of her hands covered the suitcase with her shirt and Al.

"Don't say sorry and thank you. I'm glad I could help you. But by the way, why did you change your mind?" ask the CEO because he thinks Lara doesn't have to go back to a man who doesn't respect her

"That, because of Zaki's family, they couldn't see there was a divorce in his family's pedigree. Divorce is hated by the entire extended family" Lara replied after meeting with Zaki's family. He could not get a divorce and had to go back to the house again.

"But if you're not happy? How's it?" The CEO is worried about the happiness of the person who has secretly stolen his heart.

"Actually, to me this marriage is like real. Although for Zaki is just a paper, "It's true, it was originally just a deal, but from when, Lara broke the deal by involving her emotions and heart in a love triangle.

"You know, when you're here this house feels so perfect. I feel comfortable actually if you stay here," the CEO said, making Lara look at him sharply.

"Why is that?"

"Because, if you part from Zaki. I'll protect you and your son..." Finally the CEO revealed that he really likes Lara.

Lara was astonished to hear the CEO's heartfelt acknowledgement that would protect her.

"I'm sorry. I've given you all hope..." Lara felt guilty for her attitude which confused everyone.

"Aren't I better than him?" The CEO tries to hold Lara back so she rethinks her decision to go home to Zaki who has obviously hurt her feelings.

"You're better than her in every way, therefore, you can get another woman better than me" Lara rejected the CEO's love by subtly trying not to offend her.

"Hmm, if you want to come back here. My door is always open for you" the CEO said after his love was rejected by Lara but he kept his hope in his heart. Hope someday Lara will knock on her door back and settle down with him.

"Sure...." Lara tried to smile in this tense atmosphere that made her uncomfortable.

The CEO also smiled slightly though inwardly disappointed. He tried not to be weak in the presence of the woman who had stolen his heart and attention from when. Loving at the wrong time will only leave a wound for the hopeful heart. Especially if it is clear, the loved one is still in a bond in another relationship. It's like digging your own grave.
