Chapter 17 Immediate Proposal

Irene unknowingly talks about Zaki and Lara's contract marriage to someone on the phone. That person is his best friend who knows the twists and turns of his life since his early marriage to Bobi.

"They are not divorced. Although the marriage is just a contract," he said.

"When did I say I was gonna live with Irene?" zaki asked while looking at him sharply.

Lara bowed and said softly almost inaudibly," Didn't you and Irene last night together. If you're gonna live together in this house, then I'm not in need anymore,"

"So you decided to split up thinking that Irene and I slept together that night?"

Lara was silent but her head nodded.

Suddenly Zaki smiled cackling alone. Lara looked at him in wonder.

"Lara, we lived together for three years. And this contract marriage, one day, will end. But now I've changed my mind. I want this marriage to be real" Zaki said suddenly and stunned Lara into speech.

"Me and Irene, there's no relationship anymore. Yesterday she came, but I released her back to her husband. If I had done that. Do you still want to accept me again? You know all my bad deeds. Therefore, I want to ask you. If I want us to really get married, do you still want to accept me?"

"If I change my mind you'll regret it!"
