Chapter 32 - Difference in Ability

“Nee.. Ciel..”

“It's just my feeling or the new Saintess has enough power to play a beast created from pure darkness?”

“If compared to the strength of our different races, isn't the power for a human being very limited? Moreover, I did not feel any magic energy coming out of Lily-chan's body.”

“It feels like Lily-chan's movement and agility comes from her body's natural ability that is able to move fast like that.”

“What do you think?”

As Ciel and Sia performed the purification magic ritual, Sia had enough free time to observe the small fights Lily experienced.

Looking at Lily's fairly simple and efficient fight, a big question popped up inside Sia's head.

From the point of view of his race, the ability of mankind in fighting only relied on equipment and magic. After seeing Lily's ability to move against the black wolf's vital point made Sia rethink about the true abilities of mankind.

It was the first time that Sia had seen such an efficient fight without expending so much energy to make one complicated move in the sword arts.

All of the sword arts movements that Sia had seen from mankind were meaningless movements. Her beauty and level of effectiveness were far different from Lily's sword swing.

“Sia, did you forget? Lily-chan is a Saintess. That ability came from the Goddess who raised him as a Saintess. It was no secret regarding Saintess' abilities that were beyond the comprehension of other races” Ciel replied.

“Y-Yes, I understand the power of Saintess. Only, without using magic and attacking that fast. Doesn't that require great concentration and endurance? I might be able to imitate the movement that fast but for how long? My body will definitely be destroyed for a while after making such quick movements.”

“A-Aree? Can you make such a move?” ask Ciel.

“For the dragon race, we are already used to flying dives and resisting heavy air pressure. That fast motion has a great air pressure and full concentration to keep it awake. Lily-chan may have body protection as a Saintess but.” Sia's gaze is now fixed on Mio who is standing next to Lily.

“That one man made me wonder, what tricks he did to survive the great air pressure” continued Sia's remark.

“Emm, I don't know for sure but aren't Lily-chan's and the girl's movements very harmonious? Just look, they seem to be fighting to kill the black wolf. Gawd! I want to follow that match!”

“Truely too, your observations are very sharp for such a small thing, Ciel. I was barely aware of the compatibility of their movements.”

A small wind blew past Ciel and Sia. The petals of cherry blossoms and the fragrant scent of cherry blossom petals adorn an ever-expanding purification ritual.

“Aaah. Maybe I will fall into a deep sleep after clearing this area of the forest” Sia said as she inhaled the scent of cherry blossom petals flying past her.

“Hnngg~ Kunn~ Kunn~” responded to Sia's remark, Ciel's fox ears trembled and her nose was busy inhaling the fragrant aroma scattered around her.

“A-This fragrance! Looks like I've smelled this scent before” said Ciel.

“But... where? Gawd! This scent felt familiar to me but I don't remember it” a small wrinkle appeared on Ciel's forehead, the purification magic Ciel performed faded slightly as Ciel's concentration slightly faded to remember something.

“C-Ciel..your purification magic becomes a mess!” Sia was a little panicked as Ciel's purification magic nearly faded and failed.

“Huwaaaa~ M-Sorry, Sia.” Ciel refined his purification magic and calmed his mind to concentrate on the cleansing ritual.

“H-Almost I failed to control it” Ciel managed to control his purification magic which almost failed.

“Mooo~ focus for a while” says Sia.

“Ah! about this familiar smell. I've smelled this scent before, if not mistakenly while I was training in sword arts at my master's temple. In the past, our teacher was once good friends with a swordsman from the human race. His sword ability is even recorded in the history of our race as a legendary swordsman who is able to match the heroes of our race with just his sword ability.”

“I guess your race is very closed to the human race, it turns out you guys have been in contact with the human race before” replied Sia responded to the information provided by Ciel.

“Yes, this makes me a little nostalgic and want to meet my teacher. Maybe I need to find a nice flower and her favorite drink.”

“Ethat's why it sounds like visiting your teacher's grave. Wait up! Could it be your teacher.”

“Em! The scent of cherry blossom petals and that sword technique. I remembered it again. After I became a Saintess, my body forgot that sword technique. Now, where can I get a sword capable of surviving such quick movements?” ciel's tears slightly dripped down his cheeks. Ciel's almost forgotten old memories returned to his heart.

“U.. I don't know what happened to you, Ciel. But, I think Lily-chan can help you find a suitable sword. Just look at that.” Sia turned her conversation towards Lily.

Right before their eyes, the movements made by Lily could not reach the eyes and the sparkle from her blade brushed off the remaining black wolf's head.

As Lily thrust her sword into the sheath, a loud thud of Lily's sword and sword sheath met made the rows of black wolves fall down with their heads detached from their bodies.

“Heeh!!”

Ciel and Sia who witnessed the incident just fell silent in silence. The movements they could not see and the clean execution made their bodies tremble filled with a sense of admiration.

“A-Do you see that, Ciel?” ask Sia to make sure.

“L-Excellent.” said Ciel who was glued to Lily.

“B-How to? The movement was too fast to see!”

“Excellent movement.”

Ciel and Sia had two different views after seeing Lily's ability.

“With such a movement, the load on his body is huge. Is Lily-chan okay?” Sia observed Lily's physical condition from a distance.

“Wait a minute, what are they doing? Why did Lily-chan suddenly turn into a fox girl?” from a distance, Sia sees Lily teasing Mio and licking her armpits.

“Kuuh~ I want to do it too! I haven't bathed in that way in a long time Ciel said.

“Eh? M-Mandi?”

“Em! It was a body cleansing technique for the fox race. Would you like to try it?” said Ciel while glancing at Sia.

“Ah! Ciel's! We'll get this over with as soon as we can. Before the existence of dark monsters that became the main problem in this place appeared!” Sia began to concentrate her concentration to speed up the purification ritual and avoid Ciel's questioning.

Right after Sia said that sentence, the scene in front of them changed and featured the figure of a giant black wolf being played by Mio. Seen from a distance, Lily walked in search of shady trees to fall asleep underneath.

“Eh? Isn't the source of the matter of this place already defeated by Lily-chan's subordinates? Uh! I mean Nee-sama?” reply Ciel.

“Huh? Haaah? What just happened?” hearing Ciel's reply, Sia seemed confused by the situation that had occurred.

“Sia, the monster that has just been played by Nee-sama's subordinates is the source of the pollution problem in this forest” said Ciel to explain the situation that has occurred.

“Wait! Such a dark monster is the cause of this forest pollution?”

“Uhuh! Nee-sama's subordinate managed to defeat him in no time. As expected of Nee-sama.”

“S-Shortly! I did not feel any strangeness from the monster that had just been played. Seeing the monster being played with so easily feels strange, doesn't it?”

“Oh, it's because I put up barrier magic so that their terror doesn't interfere with our purification ritual. Maybe because of the barrier I installed, you did not feel the terrifying energy of that dark monster.”

“Block barrier?” sia said with a wondering expression.

Ciel flicked his finger and a shard of magic energy scattered around them. The sensation from the air that felt heavy and the gripping aura began to be felt by Sia.

“I-Inii.” is aware of the changes happening around her, Sia is becoming more vigilant than ever.

“Ciel.. since when did you install barrier magic?” ask Sia.

“Eng? You didn't realize it? Fufu~ let's just say it was a skill from the ku” race Ciel replied with a gentle smile.

“I didn't realize it” replied Sia with a smile towards Ciel.

“Thank you for the compliment” said Ciel.

Ciel and Sia continued her purification task and ended up in the afternoon. Forest conditions return to normal, trees and small buds return to life in the chants of natural melodies.

Ciel, Sia, and Mio sat down to enjoy the late-afternoon view. They sat around Lily who was soundly asleep on Mio's lap. Mio changes Lily's sleeping position after she is content to play around with the giant black wolf.

The cold air began to blow at night, Lily slowly woke up from her nap and invited Ciel and Sia to take a bath together and have dinner in her room.

Ciel and Sia's bodies look exhausted, so they accept Lily's sweet offer.
