The next morning, Anna did the usual routine. He walked from his rented house to the laundry. However, once at work, something surprised him, when he was immediately called to the workroom by the owner of the laundry.
Anna seemed to have sat opposite Ratna. The slightly tense atmosphere of the room instantly made him dumbfounded.
"But why, Mom? Did I make a mistake?" anna asked in a disappointed look, as the owner of the laundry had just asked her not to come to the place to work.
"No, Anna. It's just .. laundry income is declining and I am forced to reduce employees on the grounds that I can not pay wages as usual," explained Ratna who certainly made Anna not believe it just like that.
"But why should I, Mom? You know, if I really need this job?" regret Anna.
"I know, but this time, I can't help you either. I'm sorry." Ratna stared at Anna's face.
I don't know what the middle-aged woman is hiding. It's as if it's not the Ratna Anna knows.
"I don't care, if you want to cut my salary, as long as you keep allowing me to work here, I beg you!" anna pleaded.
"I'm sorry, Anna, I can't" replied Ratna slightly putting on a sad expression.
Anna still did not understand Ratna's suddenly changed attitude. Whereas before, he had always been the pride of that middle-aged woman. Even while working there, he never once got reprimanded for his mistakes. Not infrequently also he got an additional bonus compared to other employees, either because of his good work or because Ratna who felt sorry, the owner of the laundry was very kind to him and all this time he was treated like his own son, even though they had no blood relation.
"Well, if it's Mom's decision, I get it." Anna looked at Ratna's face.
To be honest, he did not want to go far with Ratna whom he already considered to be like his own mother. However, he could not do much, other than surrender and accept the woman's decision with a spacious chest.
"Thank you for the experience so far, excuse me," Anna sighed in a slightly forced tone.
"Wait, Anna!" pinta Ratna, when Anna was just about to get up from her seat.
"Why, Mom?" asked Anna curiously.
Without responding directly to Anna's question, Ratna opened her desk drawer, then took a brown envelope from the drawer. He handed the envelope to Anna. "This is the last salary for you, I have also added a little bonus in it, hopefully useful, yes," he said.
Anna silently stared at the envelope still in Ratna's hands. Somehow he hesitated to take the envelope, more precisely feel sorry, if it is true that laundry income is declining. However, for some reason Ratna still gave him a bonus.
"Take it, Anna!" titah Ratna's.
"But, Bu—"
"alright. Thank you, Mom." Doubtfully, Anna grabbed the envelope from Ratna's hand.
After that, Anna immediately left the laundry place. He returned to his rented house, confused about where to go. His work at the restaurant starts later in the day. So, there is still plenty of free time for him.
In the rented house, lying on the bed, he again thought about Ratna's attitude that changed drastically to him. Until this moment he still does not believe, if only he is dismissed from his job. He feels bad, worried that he has made a mistake, but Ratna does not want to tell him directly, considering that Ratna is always good to him.
He thought about it long enough. However, I did not find the answer at all. Without him noticing, it had been hours of time that he had passed without doing anything. He decided to get ready and go to the restaurant.
At 11:00 AM local time, he arrived at the restaurant. Unexpectedly, he was also surprised by the same incident as in the laundry earlier, to make him feel astonished. The universe is not on his side. What's actually going on? Why did he experience the same thing in two different workplaces. Something seems wrong, he thought.
"Sir, can't it be reconsidered? I really need this job" Anna pleaded, after Revan had just fired her.
How could he be fired on the same day as that, while he was not aware of what he had done wrong. During this time he always tried to do his job as best as possible, especially his job at a restaurant that was only two months old. There is no way a hard-working person will waste an opportunity, when someone believes in it.
"Sorry, Anna, I can't. After all, I've already got your replacement" Revan replied.
"But what's my fault, sir?" Anna is still curious. In fact, he did not get a clear reason from his superiors.
"I don't need to have a reason. I have authority at this restaurant. You better get going!" revan answered, rising from his seat as if he no longer wanted to hear Anna's protests and questions.
The pair of eyes of the woman looked teary. He no longer knows how to defend himself. It seems unfair to him. It would be unfair if he was fired for no reason like this. However, Revan's words also have a point, that his boss has authority at the restaurant. Again he could only give up on what he had just experienced. Pretty disappointing, but what can he do?
With a slightly shaky move, Anna walked out of the restaurant. He took his feet down the sidewalk. He's very sad. No tears flooded his cheeks. In fact, he he did not care about some people who might be paying attention to him. All he cared about was his fate after this.
How could he continue his life, if work alone did not have. From where did he get money to eat and pay his rent? He was really frustrated with sudden conditions like this.
"Why did Mrs Ratna and Mr Revan suddenly fire me? What exactly is my fault? Why don't they just tell me the truth, so I don't wonder like this?" sis Anna in the middle of her crying.
So many questions filled his head. However, he certainly could not answer the question himself.
He decided to stop his steps, then sat on a park bench located around the sidewalk. He seemed to wipe away his tears. But his brain did not turn there. He kept thinking about some of the possibilities that made him get fired.
"Is this not something .. is it the Mutual mas again?" he chirped when he suddenly remembered the man's actions the day before. "Yes, don't rule out the possibility. I must meet him immediately" he added, rising back from his seat.
