Chapter 5 – Wedding Ceremony

Xia Qingyue appeared between the arms of the two bridesmaids. He wore a red phoenix crown on top of his head. A fine beaded curtain was hung from the crown of a phoenix to completely cover his entire face while also hiding his current expression. Her soft and shiny black hair fell gently behind her shoulders. Her straight red robe was decorated in a cloud pattern of "four blisses" and her belt exquisitely revealed her slender waist. On his belt hung a talisman made of beautiful jade while pearls dangled on his fingers, matching his golden boots. This important detail made her outstanding clothes even more dazzling than before.

Xia Qingyue slowly came to Xiao Che's side in the bridesmaid's arms and every step she took was light and elegant, as if she was walking across the clouds. Ordinary people would look like they were walking but if they were on her body, they would look like fairies riding on clouds. His usual posture was already that beautiful and Xiao Che saw such a beautiful scene.

Xia Qingyue finally arrived in front of the carriage and the two bridesmaids walked away while bowing backwards. In accordance with the Blue Wind Empire's wedding tradition, the groom will take the bride to the bridal seat. Xiao Che stepped forward and reached out to help Xia Qingyue. Xia Qingyue elegantly raised her hand.However, as Xiao Che grabbed Xia Qingyue's hand in her palm, a piercing cold energy spread into Xiao Che's hand and her entire right arm stiffened in pain, half cannot move.

The biting cold sensation slowly disappeared as Xiao Che lowered his hand with an indifferent expression. Other than the frown between his eyebrows when an icy cold hit him, he made no other expression or sound in the slightest.

If one were to open Xia Qingyue's fine beaded curtain, one would see her beautiful eyes flashing in shock and then hastily turn cold once again.

Xiao Che sat on a horse and the wedding procession went on with great strength and vigor. The Xia Clan's wedding team followed in the direction of the Xiao Clan shortly afterwards.

After another hour and a half, the procession returned to the main entrance of the Xiao Clan. This long journey was smooth and quiet, much to the chagrin of those who were looking forward to the development of any drama.

Xiao Lie was already at the doorway and stood up to greet their guests. Unfortunately, the number of people who came for Xiao Che could be counted with one hand. Most of the guests came for Xiao Lie and the Xia Clan. With Xiao Lie's fame and the Xia Clan's connections, many guests were seen. Outside the entrance of the Xiao Clan mansion, the people who had come to see the event were almost limitless, the streets were so full that not even a single drop of water could pass through. All of these people had come for the number one beauty wedding in Floating Cloud City.

Xia Qingyue's bridal carriage slowly stopped amidst the noise. The corner of the curtain opened as his servant Xia Dongling softly spoke: "Miss, we have arrived."

After which, a hand stretched out and Xia Dongling gently lowered her hand. As soon as he got off the carriage, the deafening atmosphere suddenly became silent to be replaced by deep breaths that followed one after another.

It was almost noon. The gentle sunlight reflected on his phoenix crown while his robe glittered slickly against the gentle breeze making one's eyes blur if it looked too long. Her hair was tied high into a bun above her head and the crown of the phoenix framing her head was four layers. The top layer was decorated with fine gold hairpins while the bottom had some gold phoenix carvings. The crown of a satin red golden phoenix extends into the fringe of a swaying pearl tassel. Although her face was not naked, with her eyes and lips partially hidden yet partially exposed, her beauty was perfectly flawless.

The sound of unbearable breathing overlapped with each other as many people stared straight ahead, unable to return to reality. That was Xia Qingyue's charismatic power, as this all happened without revealing her face! Based on her aura and posture alone, she still looked like a fairy who had just come out of the painting. Her beauty was so incredible that no one could take their eyes off her.

Xia Dongling wrapped a red silk sash around Xia Qingyue's hand. Naturally, the other end of the sash was tied to Xiao Che's hand. As he descended from the saddle, Xiao Che smiled as he walked over to lead Xia Qingyue across the brazier. They drove at the doorway of the Xiao clan and stepped directly into the hall.

As they entered through the main entrance of the Xiao clan, the noise did not subside. Xiao Che's expression did not change as he followed in his footsteps but he naturally wanted the marriage to end as quickly as possible.

This was the Xiao Clan's central hall for important meetings. The only people allowed to use this place for marriage were the leaders of the Xiao Clan and the Immediately. For this wedding the room undergoes a large-scale transformation. It was really a vision to be seen. As far as one could see, the pillars were overgrown with yellow topas and the walls were painted with dragons encrusted with rare precious pearls. A red carpet spread out in the middle of the hall in a straight line and stopped on a short golden staircase. A refined golden light filled the atmosphere, making the already beautifully decorated hall even more dazzling. The Xiao Clan was unwilling to invest large sums of money for Xiao Che and most of it came from the Xia Clan.

Xiao Lie and Xia Hongyi sat on the highest seat in the hall, smiles plastered on their faces as they saw Xiao Che and Xia Qingyue enter. On both sides of the red carpet were three rows of rose sandalwood chairs, all of them were already filled with people. The leader of the Xiao clan, Master Xiao Yunhai was also there along with the four other Elders of the Xiao clan. As Xiao Che entered with a happy smile, their expressions were silent on the surface but in the depths of their hearts, they sneered in disdain.

The Xiao Clan was a clan that trained in the Profound way for generations. Having Xiao Che with the birth defective Profound Vein in the clan was an embarrassment to the Xiao Clan. If he was not the grandson of the Fifth Elder, Xiao Lie, he would have already been expelled rather than remain inside as he was now…. And if not for the fact that he was going to marry the famous princess of the Xia Clan, they would not even bother to appear directly let alone be present at the scene.

Regarding Xiao Che, if they heard his name, they could only think of the word "junk" and not pay attention to it because they did not even remember what he looked like. In the Profound Sky Continent, one did not deserve dignity if one did not possess the skills to support it. It was a bitter reality and a universal truth that was followed by many, even against members of the same clan.

The person in charge of the marriage was the logistics manager Xiao De. The wedding ceremony began with a shout of his voice.

The host first introduced the two brides and then read out the names from the list of distinguished guests who had come to visit. As he continued, Xiao Che's expression remained neutral but in his heart was a wave of water clashing. Whatever the host said after that was something that Xiao Che did not want to bother listening to as he repeatedly pondered over the matter that he actually cared about.

What strange feeling did he suddenly feel in the Xia Clan when his hand met Xia Qingyue's hand? Is that some sort of Profound power? But he had never heard of such a mysterious power in Floating Cloud City. For Xia Qingyue to reach level 10 of the Basic Profound Realm at the age of sixteen was truly an incredible feat; how could he possibly soundlessly release an ice-cold aura that completely paralyzed his entire arm? What astonishing mystical power was displayed at such a level?

Or... was this the hidden strength of Xia Qingyue who had reached the peak of level 10 of the Elementary Profound Realm?

The voice of the host stopped. After a short pause, his voice became eight octaves higher:

"First bow to heaven and earth!"

Xiao Che's mind spun rapidly as he glanced at Xia Qingyue through the corner of his eyes as he bowed towards the door, to heaven and earth.

"Second bow for the elders!"

The two people turned 180 degrees towards Xia Hongyi and Xiao Lie who were sitting down and bowing. Xiao Lie firmly nodded and smiled lovingly at Xiao Che and his new granddaughter-in-law. Xia Hongyi also smiled and beamed.

"Suami and wife, exchange bows!"

Xiao Che's body turned towards Xia Qingyue and at the same time Xia Qingyue also turned to face her. This swift action that did not hold back any doubt or delay made all the members of the younger generation of the Xiao Clan clench their teeth. In their minds, they believed that Xia Qingyue was not willing to enter this marriage with that crippled bastard but was instead forced to come by the Xia clan. To their disappointment, even to this point, there was no resistance at all from Xia Qingyue. There was not even a rope from his escape that was considered a failure that they had imagined had occurred.

The two people bowed and as the two of them bowed towards each other, Xiao Che saw cold eyes peering through the gap of the bead curtain.

Usually at times like these, the audience will clap enthusiastically, loud laughter and cheers. But just a few people clapping for a married couple, it was quite awkward.

"Indeed the Fifth Elder must be congratulated." First Elder Xiao Li who was sitting next to Xiao Yunhai said with a cynical oddity in his words.

"I congratulate you as a representation of all the good wishes of the Five Elders." Even First Elder Xiao Li who was sitting next to Xiao Yunhai heard a strange cynical scorn in his words.

Second Elder Xiao Bo laughed with the same oddity that came from the previous leader of the Xiao clan and slowly continued: “Fifth Elder, getting such a talented son-in-law has added glory to the Xiao Clan. As for the Xia Clan obtaining such a son-in-law, haha, was also quite acceptable. Congratulations."
