SEBAS POV
I've been working for the Teyvat family for almost 20 years. After I retired to adventure, I was offered a job as a waitress. It was difficult at first, but over time I enjoyed my work.
The family I served was the Teyvat family, one of the noble families in Trianos. The Teyvat family used to be a good family. However, after they gained supreme power in the Teyvat region, their spelling began to change.
The only reason I survived to work in this family was because of the many memories I had in the Teyvat family mansion. After all, what could an old geezer like me do other than become a servant? I always wish there was someone who could be a ray of hope.
I waited so long, that at the end, I saw Lord Liam. I thought that he was originally the same as his brother and parents.
Mr. Liam's brother, Mr. Lloyd obviously followed his parents very closely. They like to look down on people who are not as intimate with them.
Although I have never seen Master Liam severely demeaning others like his brother and parents, I have already branded him as no different from them. That's where my mistake lies.
There's a waitress in the Teyvat family. She was the youngest servant we had. I picked him up on the street and gave him a job as a waitress in the Teyvat family. She is Rachel.
Maybe because I picked her up off the street, Mr. Lloyd always tortured Rachel. Day after day, Rachel always returned to her room with bruises and wounds all over her body.
As the old geezer who picked it up, I felt guilty for not being able to do anything. However, a glimmer of hope appeared before me from an unexpected person.
Mr. Liam was at first always indifferent to Mr. Lloyd's treatment of Rachel. But that day, he looked completely different than usual.
That day, Rachel was given the task of cleaning Mr. Liam's room. He looked scared, but he tried to be brave.
Moments later Rachel came to me with a bloody finger. I thought he was running away from Lord Liam who tortured him, but I was wrong.
"What's Rachel?"
Rachel looked at me with a nervous and nervous face.
"I-I broke the vase in Liam's room!"
I was surprised to hear Rachel. If Rachel who didn't make a mistake had been severely tortured, let alone Rachel who made this fatal mistake? He can be killed.
"You go first. I'm going to Liam's room."
"Ba-good..."
Rachel then left me. I then quickly rushed to master Liam's room. I can already imagine how angry Mr. Liam is and how upset he is.
While at the door of his room, I gulped. I'm going to risk my job as a waitress to defend Rachel. I then knocked on his bedroom door.
"Lake in."
A voice greeted my knock. I thought there would be a shout of anger but, I ignored that and went into Mr. Liam's room.
I saw Mr. Liam sitting on the sofa. I thought his face would look very angry but, it turns out he was not that angry(?)
"Excuse me sir, I came to clean the vase that fell down earlier."
I threw away all the useless thoughts that were messing with me. My goal now is to contain Lord Liam's anger so Rachel's life doesn't drift. Mr. Liam may now look less angry, but he can harbor a deep hatred for Rachel.
"Not to."
Eh? I was confused by Mr. Liam's reply. I thought he was gonna ask me where Rachel is. But unexpectedly, he didn't let me clean the shards of the vase?
Was his anger so high that he was sick of seeing another servant come to his room?
"No sir, as a servant I can't let my master's room fall apart."
I can't give up here right now. I must succeed in persuading Mr. Liam. I can't let Rachel be in danger.
"Curtain, you bully. If when I come in and you're not done, I'll have you lick the whole mansion clean."
His words were very sharp, but it was a gesture that he let me clear his vase.
I then started cleaning the vase. I was planning on persuading Mr. Liam while cleaning the vase but, unexpectedly when I started cleaning up Mr. Liam walked out of the room.
It's critical. Did he go find Rachel himself? I can't let it go. I have to go after Mr. Liam.
"Oi Sebas."
Before I chased after him, master Liam unexpectedly returned to this room again.
"Yes sir?"
Is he going to ask me where Rachel is?
"Bring me a magic book. Everything."
Eh? The magic? Not Rachel? Am I getting so old that my hearing is impaired? No, I clearly heard the 'magic book'.
"Good!"
I answered Mr. Liam in my confusion. Mr. Liam then left me.
Come to think of it, if master Liam caught Rachel from the start, he might not have been able to come to me, perhaps even being instantly killed in this room. Why did Rachel get away?
I ignored those thoughts and could only be grateful that Rachel could still be helped for now.
...***...
I'm currently in Liam's room to deliver the magic book he requested.
"Sorry Mr. Liam, that's the only book on magic in this mansion."
The real book is not the mansion's, but my personal book. I got it from my old adventurer friend. He gave it as our parting gift.
"Tch, this is completely useless."
I don't know why Mr. Liam put his focus on the magic book and not on Rachel, but I'm grateful for that.
"You can go. I was in vain to call you."
Mr. Liam told me to leave. This is a chance to check on Rachel's condition.
"good. You can call me if you need anything."
I then left Mr. Liam and looked for Rachel.
...***...
Pimply.
I can't find Rachel anywhere. I've searched the whole room of the mansion and still can't find Rachel.
Did Mr Liam find Rachel first and torture her so she didn't have any emotion in front of me? My mind became clumsy. I brought Rachel here. It's my fault if anything happens to that kid.
"Basic cattle!"
I heard Mr. Lloyd's voice from the park. As I peeked out of the mansion window, I saw Mr. Lloyd torturing Rachel. I immediately ran towards the park.
"Sister!"
Before I got to the park, it turned out that Mr. Liam had arrived first. Because Mr. Liam, Mr. Lloyd stopped to torture Rachel. They both got a little chat. I vaguely heard that Mr. Liam would take care of Rachel in her brother's place. Mr. Lloyd then left Liam and Rachel.
Just before I went to stop Mr. Liam, I heard something very shocking.
"Your face makes me sick. Get out of my sight now, you cowardly girl."
Although the sentence was sharp, it was a clear sign that master Liam released Rachel. Rachel who had previously broken the vase, who had previously messed with Liam's room was now in front of him, but master Liam let go of Rachel.
"Is it possible..."
From the bottom of my heart, I felt that perhaps, master Liam was the one who would bring a new light to the Teyvat family, yet I had to make sure of this again.
After Mr. Liam left, I then approached Rachel to treat her wound.
"Rachel..."
Rachel was shocked by my presence.
"It's okay Mr. Sebas, I'm fine."
He said it with a body full of injuries. Seeing her made me feel guilty for not being able to do much to protect her.
...***...
I was working on cleaning the hallway of the mansion, until then I heard the sound of hateful screams.
"BASIC TERRACE!!!!!"
I ran to the scene immediately. There I saw Mr. Liam whose clothes were wet, Mr. Lloyd who was beside Mr. Liam, and Rachel who was falling with many tea glasses scattered. I immediately understood the situation.
This is a very serious situation. I might be able to defend Rachel in front of Mr. Liam, but not with Mr. Lloyd. She very much does not tolerate mistakes, especially the one who does it is Rachel.
My heart and mind are raging, how should I cope with this dire situation. Besides, there's a fear in me of the unforgiving Mr. Lloyd.
While thinking about all of those things, Liam suddenly spoke up.
"Calm down, brother."
"I'll take care of this bastard. Besides, you have to prepare various things to go to the capital right? It's a shame that your preparations are delayed just because of him. Take it easy, I'll teach him a lesson he can't forget."
Hearing that, Mr. Lloyd's anger eased a bit. She then left after beating Rachel violently on her stomach. Shortly after Mr. Lloyd left, I saw Mr. Liam trying to carry the unconscious Rachel.
I can't say anything. This is the same as when Mr. Liam released Rachel from Mr. Lloyd at the park. As long as I was this old man was still frightened in taking a step, master Liam bravely took the risk, even if he had to lie to his own brother, he dared to take the settlement.
I was wrong about Mr. Liam. I was a fool for not realizing this from the beginning even suspecting it.
I then went towards Liam and Rachel.
"I'll help you."
