The night has changed dawn. I looked at the dawn and Galang opened his eyes. There is an unusual taste like before. It was like getting the comfort he had been looking for. Though the mattress he slept on was not so soft and he should be disturbed by the smell of mosquito repellent. But Galang felt fit because of enough sleep.
"I slept well. Usually I always restless before going to bed and even waking up" muttered Galang who then sat leaning against the wall to listen to the Adhan.
There was a whirring sense in him as the dawn adhan sounded so melodious. He became in elementary school and won the first champion of the provincial level adhan race.
"Mama .. instead of Mama is very proud when Galang dapet the first champion trophy adhan," Galang murmured while smiling wryly.
In addition to his mother, Galang also remembered the words of Ustadz Jefri shortly before they decided to sleep.
"Ck, is a Galang going to be stamped as a bad boy? Yesterday lost the affection of the parents, now lost the soul-stirring girl. It's too bad for your fate." Again Galang only talked to himself.
"Son Joseph, are you awake? Will Aba help you get some abu water?" ask ustadz Jefri who just came out of the room. Galang surprised. But he tried to be ordinary.
"Aba, going to the mosque?" asked Galang and immediately got a smile reply. Of course Ustadz Jefri will perform congregational prayers in a mosque not far from his home.
"Yes. You want to pray to the mosque what is prayer at home?" Ustadz Jefri's question really made Galang gawk.
Prayer? Actually it is not Galang never carry out the obligation of five prayers. It's just that he left his Lord long ago after the death of his mother. Even Galang was the best graduate santri six years ago. Galang lived in a boarding school in East Java for seven years and he left the boarding school to continue his education in Jakarta because he wanted to be close to his mother.
"Son Joseph! Why even dream? Forgot how to pray?" ask ustadz Jefri while patting Galang's shoulder.
"God, I remember, Aba. I also took my own wudhu. Going to the mosque is okay. Where's the qibla, Aba?" said Galang immediately realized from his daydream.
"Alhamdulillah then. It's going there!" answer ustadz Jefri while pointing to the direction of the Qibla. "Get me Koko's clothes and sarong first yes," continued Ustadz Jefri then back into the room.
The departure of Ustadz Jefri makes Galang again daydream. Between doubt, confusion or shame, he did not know because it had been a long time ago Galang never approached God.
"Son Joseph, how come you daydream again? Think what?" ask ustadz Jefri who again made Galang a little surprised.
"Eh, Aba. No really. I just feel far from God. Maybe Galang never prayed, Aba?" said Galang accompanied by a bland smile.
"No pa-pa. Perhaps Joseph had a hard time before losing his memory until he felt distant from God. Now Joseph's son approaches himself again with God. Ask for what Yusuf wants to ask for. Allah is the giver. Take a shower and pray as much as Yusuf. Go to the mosque first, yes!" Galang nodded in understanding after that Ustadz Jefri also left.
Galang stared at the white cocoa shirt as well as the sarong and towel that Ustadz Jefri gave. Again and again Galang could only smile insipidly. Whether you can or not, but it never hurts to try again after a long loss of direction.
A few moments later, the adhan is no longer heard and replaced with prayer. Galang slowly woke up with a long breath and a heavy body then went to the bathroom.
"Crazy .. It's so cold! You don't have to shower. It was a bit more hurt. Si-" Galang stopped talking when he saw Airin coming into the bathroom. He wanted to hide because of the cold water.
"Sister Yusuf? Is Yusuf all right?" ask Airin a little wonder. Actually not surprisingly, but more to the amazement because Galang came out with a fair beaming look even more handsome with a white cocoa wrap as well as a batik holster motif given ustadz Jefri.
Not only that, Airin also saw Galang like a person who did not have an accident.
"Eh, Deck Airin!" Suddenly misbehaving. His mouth that was about to cuss was struck with his own hands.
"Why, Brother?" ask Airin again.
"Ah, no! Deck Airin's gonna take a shower?"
"Yes, Brother. Is Yusuf finished?"
"Oh, that. Please! I want to pray at dawn." Galang rushed away even with an abnormal path because his leg was sore and painful.
Galang also arrived at a small space measuring 1.5x1m near the living room where he slept. There was a prayer rug there. With a long breath, Galang also performed dawn prayers solemnly.
"Astaghfirullah .. it feels strange. I feel calmer" Galang murmured after making the last greeting and rubbed his face with both hands. "Yes Allah ...." Suddenly stooped. Somehow Galang felt guilty for taking too long to leave his Lord. There was even a speck of clear liquid dripping on the prayer mat.
"There's still Brother Yusuf, Uma." It was immediately realized after hearing Airin talk with Uma Siti. Surely the two of them will also perform dawn prayers. The barn moved after rubbing both of his cheeks.
"Assalamualaikum, Uma," said Galang slightly bowed his body.
"Wa'alaikumsalam, son Yusuf is done?" ask Uma Siti.
"Already, Uma. Please!" The barn passed without even glancing at Airin at all. The current destination is the home page of Ustadz Jefri. Slowly Galang opened the main door and the fresh breeze instantly redeemed Galang's nose.
That feeling is not foreign to Galang. That feeling he often felt when he used to live in a boarding house. That feeling makes Galang remember the good times with his friends as well as the good times with his mother. Again, the storm stopped her tears.
"Would You have sent them to bring this anointed One back to You, Rabb? But I feel too far away. Do you deserve to worship you? How could a servant be a devout Galang again, O Allah?" murmured Galang still with tears.
