Seeing the one being spoken to just shut up and lowered his head, Hanggara felt unable to hold back his patience and curiosity.
With a glint of eyes that bore anger, he moved out of place and was about to act rudely towards the woman before him.
"Don't hurt my mom, Uncle!" pinta is a girl who has not been far behind Sovia. Aruna cupped her hands together and pleaded. He certainly could not bear to see his mother who was very helpless to get rough treatment from Hanggara.
Although she knew very well if her mother had done evil in the past, but Aruna also knew how much her mother suffered so far. To bear regret for decades is not an easy thing to pass.
"Aruna, no problem, son. My mom deserves the anger from her. My mother's past actions cannot be forgiven. Mama is a very evil and vile person, so let her take away the sins of her mother" he said, staring at his daughter with a glare.
Sovia then took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. He began to look at the younger brother of one father, whom he had not seen again for a long time.
"Dimas, I'm sorry. I really didn't expect that in the end Stevi's presence in the middle of your family would give you this kind of trouble. Forgive my daughter who has troubled you and also nearly harmed your own daughter. I thought, if I give one of my daughters to you, it will bring happiness in it. But I was wrong."
"What do you mean, Sovia?" Hanggara and his wife really did not understand the direction of the conversation from the woman.
Sovia lowered her head and closed her eyes, as if she was recalling all the memories stored in her brain all along. He slowly raised his head and embraced the girl who was standing on equal footing with him.
"Yes, this is my daughter, Aruna. And the one who has been living with you is also my daughter. They're my twin daughters."
"What did you say? No way! If she's your daughter, where's my daughter, huh? Did you kidnap her and harm her? You sly woman! What do you really want from me, Sovia?" Hanggara had already raised his hand with a body that was shaking violently due to the anger that had taken hold of him. He did not think how the woman could do it, while they never even met at all.
But again he could not vent his anger because Aruna put up a body to protect the person he used to call the mama.
Elisha, I don't know what he's feeling right now. Should he be happy because in the end the foul-hearted woman is not his biological sister? Or even upset because it turns out that all this time his parents have wasted so much of their time protecting and loving people who turned out not to be their real daughter?
"Dimas, give me a chance! I'll explain everything. My chest is so tight holding all this by myself all this time." Sovia clenched her hands together and began to plead while kneeling before her interlocutor.
"Everything else I can trust you with, Sovia? And who's gonna vouch if you say the right thing?" Still with her red eyes holding back the anger, Hanggara spoke furiously.
Still on her knees, Sovia kept her voice open. He no longer cared whether his sister would hear him or not. His chest had been in pain for a long time, and now was the right time for him to reveal it all.
"I came to see you about twenty-five years ago to admit all my mistakes. But it turns out I was out of luck, an old gardener told me you were taking your pregnant wife to the hospital. I intended to catch up with you, but apparently my own body was so exhausted that my water broke just before I reached the hospital. And on that very day I gave birth there, in the place where your wife was also struggling to bear your offspring. But God made my business easier. I was able to give birth to my twins normally and safely. Until the next day, after I was able to get out of my bed, I was still trying to find you and your wife. In that not-so-big hospital, I could easily find where you were. But as I was about to knock on the door of your room, my ears accidentally caught the sound of someone sobbing. That person is a nurse or maybe a midwife, I don't know for sure. I tried to get close to him and find out a little bit of information. I didn't think that person would tell me. She said she had just taken care of a baby who had just been born a while ago, who was none other than your wife's baby. But she was so frightened that the baby she had just taken care of was unable to survive. Either because of an accident or for some other reason. It honestly made me sad to hear it. Thinking that your wife would be devastated by the death of her baby, I finally decided to give one of my babies to you and take your dead baby with me. Because I thought it would be able to replace suffering into happiness for you."
"No, there's no way my daughter's dead! You must have hidden it, right? Where's my daughter, Sovia?" Hanggara is feeling very frustrated now, as is his wife.
"Say! Where's our daughter?" pinta Mary.
"I'm telling you the truth, Dimas. I don't have time to lie anymore, because I only have to count the months, maybe even just count the days. I want to go quietly. I've let go of everything, told you everything. I'm sorry for making the wrong decision that time." Sovia was stunned as she lowered her head and supported her body with both hands.
"There's no way my daughter's dead. No way, Ma." Hanggara was the same as the woman he was talking to. His bones felt so limp that it made his body just slump. He was also unable to stem the tightness that felt squeezing his chest. Until it spills clear liquid that has pooled in his eye pelup.
He hugged his wife who was just as beaten up as he was. They lamented fate, also regretting that they had ignored their only real daughter who had been the victim of slander for an older brother who was not their flesh and blood.
