"Any more, Ma?" Beth asked Mama Tere who went with her tonight to one of the clothes shops near the town square.
Yes, this store is indeed the choice of Beth and Mama Tere to buy clothes for children in the orphanage. Because in addition to the affordable price, the quality of the clothes is also quite good.
"Internal for kids yet. Mama search first," said Mama Tere as she passed away leaving Beth who was busy reaching for her sling bag, because the girl felt the vibrations from her phone.
Maybe there's an important phone call coming in, or maybe Papa Will has come to pick up.
Uh, but Papa Will's gonna pick up when Beth calls. Who called Beth now?
"Foreign number?" Beth muttered as she frowned. Beth, who thought it might be one of the store's customers, picked up the phone.
"Hello!"
"Beth! You still in the store?"
Both of Beth's eyes reflexively widened upon hearing the voice that was a foreign shelf in her ear.
Reandra.
"Beth!"
"Th-yes!"
"Eh, no!" Beth replied stuttering and a little confused.
"Yes or not? I'm gonna stop by-"
"The shop's closed because I'm out!" Beth quickly cut out Reandra's words.
"Ooh! Out where? Let me follow up."
"No need!" Reject Beth quickly. The image of Reandra holding a woman who was shown by Fairel suddenly flashed in Beth's mind.
"Why?"
"Because...."
"I want to give you a gift."
"Ha-gift?" Beth's a little shaky now. A message from Fairel this afternoon suddenly evaporated away.
Reandra wants to give Beth a present? What reward?
"Beth!"
"L-yes!" Answer Beth stammered.
"Which shop are you in?"
"Near square. The store is thirty-five thousand," replied Beth who finally informed Reandra of his whereabouts.
"Oh! Near the square, huh?"
"All right, I'm sliding down there. Don't go anywhere yet!"
That's it.. tuut!
The phone disconnected and Beth closed her eyes for a moment.
"I'm warning you once again to stop responding to Reandra's calls or chats!"
"Not to mention Reandra's mother who hit you yesterday. Do you want your pride trampled like that?"
The words of warning from Fairel this afternoon had turned around in Beth's head.
"Ck! Reandra must not have known that her mother had come to hit me. And later for example I told Reandra everything, there will be a solution!"
"Why should I trust and listen to Fairel?" Beth muttered to herself.
"Beth! Who are you talking to?" Mama Tere's rebuke instantly made Beth jump.
Geez!
Beth even remembered that she was here with Mama Tere!
"No one, Ma!"
"Mama who's looking for an interior already?" Beth asked her mother.
"It's over!"
"Come to the cashier!" Invite Mama Tere later which only makes Beth nod. Beth then followed her mother to line up at the cashier.
"Do you know that Angga is getting married on Sunday?" Ask Mama Tere as they wait in line.
"Yet, Ma!"
"Why so fast?" Beth asked confused.
"Mama doesn't know either."
"But at the Angga engagement event yesterday it was announced immediately."
"You, anyway! He was invited to come instead did not come and instead met at the boarding house Timmy!" Omel Mama Tere who just makes Beth grimace.
One of the reasons Beth didn't show up that night was so she wouldn't meet Fairel. But in fact Beth still met with Fairel who got a raw bogem from Abang Timmy until his eyes blackened.
"Tomorrow at Angga's wedding you and Timmy should come! Mama does not feel good to Aunt Sita if you do not come," said Mama Tere again who was immediately agreed by Beth.
"Yes, Ma! Beth is coming!"
"If it's Timmy's brother, the persuaded mama!" Tukas Beth along with the queue in front of him that was exhausted. Mama Tere slenderly placed the two baskets of clothes that she and Beth had brought on the cashier's desk to count.
Beth was still watching the cashier who counted the total groceries, as the girl's phone shook again.
"Hello!" Again Beth forgot to see the name on the screen. It was like a foreign number. So Beth reflex lifts.
"Beth I've been in front of a thirty-five thousand department store near the square."
"What shop is this, Beth? How cheap is it?"
"Shirt shop!" Beth answered grimacingly.
"Shirt? What clothes? You bought clothes at this store?"
"Yes! Why why?" Beth asked Reandra again, whose tone was so dismissive.
What's wrong with buying clothes at a store like this? Both are clothes that are meant to be worn!
"It's okay, anyway! Just a wonder!" Still stung by Reandra on the other end of the phone.
"By the way, can you get out first? I'm in front of this shop."
"Awhile more! I'm still accompanying my mama" Beth replied in a sharp tone.
"And I want to give you a gift-"
"Take it off!" Sergah Beth was quick along with Mama Tere who called her. Apparently Beth's birth mother was done paying.
"Beth!"
"Yes, Ma!" Answer Beth while saying goodbye to Reandra and turning off the phone. Beth went to Mama Tere and helped bring a cardboard box of clothes for the children in the home.
"Children will be very happy" said Mama Tere who immediately made Beth nod.
"Have you called Papa?" Ask Mama Tere later.
"Huh? Oh my!" Beth cursed herself for forgetting.
"It's okay! Later we stop by angkringan in front first while waiting for Papa."
"Mama's hungry" Mama Tere later said, only confirmed by Beth. After putting a cardboard box of clothes for the orphanage in front of the store, Beth continued to contact Papa Will.
"Beth!" Call Reandra as she approaches Beth.
"Oh, hi! You still here?" Beth answered a little awkwardly.
"Yes!"
"This is a gift for you!" Reandra had already thrust a small paperbag onto Beth.
Beth thought Reandra's gift was bigger.
Yes, at least as big as the paperbag that Beth used yesterday to return Fairel's clothes.
But this....
Not even bigger than Beth's sling bag!
Ah, but maybe the contents are 10 grams precious metal, because it's a little heavy.
"Ehem!" Mama Tere had cleared her throat and Beth immediately remembered that the mother was still nearby.
"Eh, yes, Re!"
"Know, it's my Mama" Beth said, introducing Mama Tere to Reandra.
"Birth mate?" Reandra asked, which immediately made Beth and Mama Tere look at each other.
"I..Yes!"
"Do our faces look similar?" Timpal Mama Tere who now looks unhappy at Reandra.
"It's not like that, Auntie! I was just kidding!" said Reandra who immediately apologized politely.
"By the way, you're-"
"I'm Reandra, Beth's boyfriend, Auntie!" Reandra answered quickly even before Mama Tere's question was completed.
Beth was of course immediately grimaced at Reandra's confession just now.
"Daughter, huh? Bring all the gifts!" Tukas Mama Tere then slightly quipped. Beth was wrong.
"So, Reandra can take Beth out, right, Auntie?" Ask Reandra next.
"Where are you going?" Ask Mama Tere full of questions.
"Walk, Auntie! Enjoy the night air." Answer Reandra
"How long has it been Beth's boyfriend, Re?" Ask Mama Tere again.
"Around...." Reandra seemed to remember.
"About how much, Beth?" Reandra then asked Beth who was straight to sniff her shoulders.
"Ah, yes! Three months, Auntie!", replied Reandra at last.
"Three months!" Mama Tere was bearded, before she spoke.
"That means you should know that Beth has curfew restrictions, Reandra!"
"Beth should be home by nine in the evening!" Mama Tere.
"We were previously LDR-an, Ma!" Sergah Beth who somehow defends Reandra.
"And it's still half-nine, Auntie!" Timpal Rrandra shows his watch to Mama Tere.
"No yes no!"
"You should have told Reandra even if you were LDRs!" Omel Mama Tere then on Beth.
"Yes, Ma! Sorry!", replied Beth quickly.
"So, Reandra can't take Beth out for a walk, Auntie?" Tanya Reandra insisted.
"No!" Mama Tere replied firmly.
"All right, it's okay!"
"Next time we go, Beth! Before nine," Reandra said, smiling at Beth, who looked wrong.
"I'll go first, yeah!"
"Bye!" Pamit Reandra then waved to Beth.
"Bye!" Beth Tanoa waved her hand at all.
After Reandra's car drove away, Beth then turned to Mama Tere who was now crossing.
"So he said he was hungry and wanted to eat in Angkringan, Ma!" Beth reminded and distracted Mama Tere.
"Yes!" Mama Tere replied at last while swinging a step into the angkringan blue tent near the square. Beth then followed her mother after leaving her groceries at the parking lot in front of the store.
"Tea warm one, sir!" Mama Tere said as Beth just walked into the angkringan tent.
But how surprised Beth when she found Fairel who turned out to have been sitting in a long chair not far from Mama Tere.
Geez!
What's Fairel doing here?
