CHAPTER 20 A Thin Sky Piece! Secret Place!

He has been a soldier for years. During those years, he had gone deep into the mountains and into many ancient forests on missions. He had faced many dangers, and often traveled like this.

“I'll help you! Two people can do it faster!”

Gu Qingyao looked around and said, "Alright!"

It is about four hectares. On one side was a pool, and on the other side was an open space. The clumps grew on flat ground and there were a few large rocks next to it.

The pond was fed by a small stream that flowed slowly. Downstream is a fairly deep river that flows out of the area.

Mo Beihan said, “This place is very safe. There are many fish in the pond that swim upwards from the river below. This stream is a crossroads and there is plenty of food for fish. All fish swim here to eat food.”

“I'll catch the fish later and you can clean it here. I'm going hunting. You stayed. Don't go, dangerous out there.”

They were quite deep in the mountain, but Mo Beihan did not want to take Gu Qingyao to the deepest part of the mountain. He had found this small place in his previous life. It was perfectly safe, and no one else had found it. Wild animals do not come here.

He had brought Yao Yao here before, in his previous life, but that would happen years later.

Gu Qingyao was overjoyed. He loved this place in his previous life!

"Are we fishing now?" Gu Qingyao's eyes shone, as if she couldn't wait.

Mo Beihan smiled. "Yes!"

So the two of them worked together to stem the flow of the river flowing into the pond. Then they set up fishing nets in a narrow area downstream of the pond, and waited for the fish.

When the net was almost filled with fish, Mo Beihan pulled it. He threw all the fish into the nearby open, then lowered the net again.

There were about a dozen fish in the open space. Some were rather small, and Gu Qingyao did not want them. He put it back in the water.

He was happy as he looked at the remaining large fish. They pack and flutter.

Two of them are very large, and about six kilograms.

“Both are huge. Their heads would be great for making tofu soup, ” Gu Qingyao said with a smile.

Mo Beihan glanced at them. “If you like it, you can bring them back. Cut off their heads and use them to make soup. The grass carper is not bad. Take that wooden bucket and fill it with water to hold them. I want to bring them back alive.”

Gu Qingyao obediently took out a wooden bucket and filled it with water. There were four grass carpers, each weighing about two kilograms.

Mo Beihan handed a small dagger to Gu Qingyao and told her to clean the fish by the water. He lowered the net two more times, but the number of fish was less, and he only caught ten slightly larger fish.

They caught twenty-six fish in total, which was pretty good.

Mo Beihan found some sticks and made a frame. He told Gu Qingyao, “Clean the fish and hang it there. Here it is very safe and we can let the fish here dry up. We'll bring some back tonight. It would be too conspicuous if we brought too many fish back.”

Nowadays, people are running amok because of food. Fish are very valuable on the black market.

Mo Beihan found a few more sticks and sharpened them to make a door. Then he tied it up so that its sharp edges faced outwards, to prevent the ferocious beasts from entering. Then he found some dried grass and placed it at the entrance.

Only then did he say to Gu Qingyao, “I'll be out for a while. Don't leave this place. I'm not going far. If anything happens, call me immediately. If wild animals come, immediately light a fire to scare them. Do you understand? I've set the bell line outside. If something comes your way, the bell will ring.”

Gu Qingyao smiled, but still said obediently, "I know, don't worry!"

Mo Beihan was afraid that there would not be enough dried grass, so he collected another bundle of firewood and placed it next to Gu Qingyao before he was satisfied.

Mo Beihan left while Gu Qingyao kept cleaning the fish. After he finished cleaning it, he tied it with a straw rope, and hung it on the frame.

Other than the six goldfish that Mo Beihan wanted to keep alive, there were only a few fish, so Gu Qingyao finished cleaning them within an hour.

Will he continue to wait here?
