"Where are you going?"
"I want to find a new job in the capital."
"But .. You don't have any provisions to go there," he said sadly.
"Patience and wait for me here."
That was the last conversation between Iko and Nana before deciding to go to the city. Both were teenagers and didn't know anything. Both were victims of the ferocity of the landlords who forcibly seized their land.
Their parents are gone and have left no possessions. Only the mercy of a foster mother can raise them. But now that the foster mother is gone, Iko must think of a way to survive longer. And now that ten years have passed, Nana is still faithfully waiting for Iko to return to the village.
"Rain day again."
Nana had just returned home after teaching the children in the village. The salary is not big, just enough to eat everyday. But Nana was very active in teaching until she was awarded a scholarship by the foundation. Which the foundation is now starting to grow and spread to all corners of the surrounding village. And Nana is believed to be a teacher there. He also completed his studies.
It rained again today. The rain was umpteenth in anticipation of the news of a man who had been with him since childhood. But the man has not returned. Ten years passed and it did not make him forget. Nana still believes in the promise of the man who asked her to wait. The small hut of his house was a witness to an unrequited wait.
"Excuse me."
Just returned home after teaching, in the rain that fell Nana's hut was knocked by someone from outside. Nana immediately dried her face that had just been washed. Then he opened the door. And when she opened the door, that was when Nana was shocked. He saw someone as he was known before.
The man was Iko who already looked different from before. Iko's appearance makes Nana not recognize him. Iko smiled in front of Nana.
"I'm Iko, Nana."
Nana finally realizes who is coming. "Iko, are you this?"
He really could not believe that Iko would come to the village. The rain that falls bears witness to the avenged wait. With a spring Nana welcomed Iko's arrival and invited him into the house. Nana misses Iko so much.
"I keep my promise. I'm coming to get you, Nana." Iko smiled happily as she entered the house.
Iko is different now. Ten years passed making Iko look more luxurious and stylish. Iko who was once just a jobless laborer is now turning into a rich man with his new car. Nana did not expect that Iko would come to see her. Ten years is not a long time to wait. Especially in the wait. But now Iko proved and avenged the wait.
A dozen minutes later...
"I'm currently in college and teaching at one of the kindergartens. I can't go quickly into town."
Nana and Iko were sitting on a bamboo chair inside the hut of their house. The state of the house seemed to have changed nothing since Iko left the village. Therefore Iko wants to invite Nana to stay in the capital. But Nana burdens her duties and responsibilities in the village. He felt bad if he left the village just like that.
