Both stopped by the wholesale market that was open in the afternoon to fill the refrigerator, some kinds of vegetables, fruit and fish they bought. It was almost afternoon when they finished shopping, all the way home Reyhan was more silent, while Kanaya she was like a broken radio that kept raving.
Reyhan's car swamp turned into his yard. Kanaya suddenly fell silent, the girl's lips felt muddy, her hands firmly grasped Reyhan's arms with eyes looking straight ahead.
Reyhan immediately turned his head, wanting him to ask Kanaya why she was holding his arm so firmly. However, he paled because he saw the fear that was so great on the face of the wife. Reyhan followed where Kanaya's eyes were looking, a man standing on their back. It was unclear who, but why Kanaya looked so scared.
Reyhan's iron horse stopped in the garage, the foreign man still did not turn his head despite hearing the roar of the car engine. Reyhan rushed down but Kanaya further tightened her grip on Reyhan's arm.
"Hey, why? Comeondown. There are guests waiting for us" Reyhan said.
The stranger fears that he is Reyhan's shop customer, though the former widower is unsure. Kanaya shook her head quickly. "Don't Om, we're just here."
Kanaya begged deeply, her face showing great fear. Reyhan patted the back of Kanaya's hand.
"No way Nay, there's a guest waiting. We can't ignore it."
Kanaya could no longer argue, forced to get out of the car following Reyhan's step down first. Her husband had walked very close to the foreign man who was still standing on the porch of their house.
"Sorry, -"
Reyhan's words came to a halt as the man turned his back. Reyhan was transfixed, as broad as a sweet smile offended at the lips of the man younger than him.
"Chess?"
The man nodded politely. At first glance he glanced at Kanaya who was hiding behind Reyhan's body.
"Sorry to nod, I want to meet Kanaya. There are things I have to say" he said politely.
"Oh, um of course. Sorry to make you stand outside like this. Me and Kanaya went shopping earlier."
"I know."
"Hem?" Reyhan's eyebrows fused, hearing Chess's utterance.
"I mean, it's okay I also haven't been here long," Chess immediately rectified he said quickly.
Reyhan turned his head, he was astonished by Kanaya hiding behind him. The girl seemed to be very unwilling to meet her uncle. But according to Reyhan, Chess is the best person when compared to Uncle and aunt Kanaya, even compared to Kanaya's own father.
"Nay, salim first. Don't be like this, it's not polite" Reyhan said softly to his wife.
"As-Assamuallikum Uncle," Kanaya said without showing himself.
"It's not like this Nay."
"It's okay, it's okay. Kanaya and I are not very close, maybe Kanaya is not comfortable with me here" said Chess with a charming smile, anyone who saw would not have expected if there was a murderous soul behind that smile.
Reyhan could only smile awkwardly, he felt that Kanaya's attitude was too childish. He shouldn't be this disrespectful, let alone with his uncle.
Reyhan stepped up and immediately opened the locked door, and Kanaya rushed to Reyhan. Chess just smiled cynically at Kanaya who was so close to the man she just met.
After the three of them entered, Reyhan invited Chess to sit down while he prepared a drink in the kitchen. Kanaya follows her husband like a chicken.
"You're why Nay, he's your uncle. Accompany her, don't step up like a kid like this!"
Kanaya just she's down on hearing ben won't Reyhan, she hasn't been able to tell Reyhan about the real Chess.
Kanaya's silence made Reyhan even more upset, the man brought himself a tray with three sweet teas and immediately took him to the living room.
"Sorry to wait a long time, please. I'm sorry I can only offer you this" Reyhan said, putting tea on the table.
"I should be the one apologizing for being troublesome" Chess said with a smile.
Reyhan was sitting on the chair opposite Chess, and Kanaya was directly sitting next to him. Chess smiled, the tail of the male eyes could not be separated from Kanaya who was looking down scared, she really liked Kanaya who was like that. Fear and submit to him.
"Ehmm, what exactly do you want to talk to Kanaya about?"
Reyhan's successful question made Chess a little flutter, but she instantly changed her expression as calmly as possible. Reyhan who realized that Chess was always watching the wife felt something was wrong, Chess's gaze on Kanaya was so different.
Chess smiled before she started talking. "Look, Oma's clove oil treatment plant needs a renovation of the roof leaking, and some walls are also cracked. So I'm here to tell Kanaya about this."
The man took the tea and drank it, he looked very calm. Reyhan glanced at Kanaya who had been silent without a word.
"Why did you tell Kanaya?"
"That place is still one area with Oma's house that should belong to Kanaya, so I think Kanaya deserves to know. And after you left Cak Mujianto, Mbak Astuti and Cak Vishnu and I returned to deliberations, we agreed to give the house to Kanaya. Because you were on Oma's side all this time, until the end of her life, wasn't that Nay?"
Kanaya did not reply, she gripped the oversized t-shirt that covered her thigh. Reyhan placed his hands on Kanaya's strong clenched hands, but Kanaya raised her face to look at Reyhan who slightly nodded slowly.
Chess who saw Reyhan's affection for Kanaya was furious, she tried to refrain from breaking the glass in her hand.
"Sa-I don't want that house, I've given it to you guys. Whatever you want, want to be renovated or sold again is also okay. I'm comfortable and will be staying here with my husband" Kanaya said a little stammered, thanks to the support of Reyhan Kanaya had the courage to talk to Chess.
Chess smiled at Kanaya's words, she put the tea that had half stayed back to the table.
"Well, Nay, if that's your decision. I just want to let you know, after all, you are our family. Although Cak Muji does not love you like his son, but I love you very much, Kanaya," Chess said with great emphasis at the end of her sentence.
Kanaya lowered her head again, her hands wet with cold sweat from fear. Chess got up, and glanced at the glance of the clock that was coiled around her wrist.
"It was late in the afternoon, I said goodbye. Sorry to interrupt your time."
"Not at all" Reyhan said.
"When you have time to stop by Oma's house, some of your stuff is still there. I decided to stay there, I'm waiting for a visit from you."
