“Who is he?” ask Fikri while looking back through the rear-view mirror.
“Your boyfriend, yes?” ask Fikri.
“Not. He's an unimportant person,” Nessa replied while putting on her seat belt.
“It looks like he is disappointed to see you go,” said Fikri.
“Leave it, Sir. Who wants to see her anyway,” replied Nessa.
Fikri drove his car through the traffic crowd at night. Fikri turned his car into a luxury hotel in Bandung. He did not stop his car to the lobby but directly to the parking lot in the basement. From the basement they climbed the liff to the tenth floor of the hotel. They went to the Chinese restaurant at the hotel. They entered the restaurant.
Fikri approached a pair of middle-aged men and women. The man and woman smiled brightly when they saw Fikri coming. They stood up and welcomed Fikri. Fikri shook the hand of the elderly man. The man hugged Fikri and patted Fikri on the back.
“How are you doing, Fikri?” ask the man in fluent Indonesian.
“Alhamdullilah I am in good condition, Mr Lee,” replied Fikri.
Then Fikri greeted the elderly woman next to Mr Lee. The woman immediately hugged Fikri.
“How are you doing?” asked the woman while rubbing Fikri's back.
“Alhamdullilah I am in good condition, Mrs Lee,” replied Fikri.
The woman let go of her embrace.
“Do you eat well? Your body looks a bit thin,” asked the woman.
“Of course I eat well. It's not skinny, it's proportional. If I am a bit fat later no woman will be with me,” replied Fikri jokingly.
“Ah you, always just women being number one,” said Mrs Lee.
“Of course, Mrs Lee. Without women life would not be beautiful,” replied Fikri.
Nessa just kept quiet while watching them.
“That's who?” asked Mrs Lee pointing to Nessa.
“Oh, I forgot to introduce. This is Nessa my secretary,” said Fikri.
Nessa salutes Mrs Lee and Mr. Lee.
“Secretary? Since when do you like to bring your secretary? Usually you bring your female,” asked Mrs Lee.
“Then she becomes my secretary, wherever I go she has to come along. Otherwise he will be fired by Papah and my name is removed from Papah's list of heirs,” replied Fikri.
“Your father still treats you hard. You better move to Singapore and be our son,” said Mrs Lee.
“Later Mom cried if I left Mamah,” replied Fikri.
“We are also lonely without you, Fikri,” Mrs Lee said sadly.
“Quiet Mrs Lee, I will often come to visit Singapore,” said Fikri.
“Really? We will wait for your arrival,” said Mrs Lee.
“Has been kangenannya. Now that we eat, my stomach is hungry,” said Mr Lee.
They sat down and started ordering dinner. While waiting for food to come, they talked. Their conversation is not about business, but more like a family conversation. They look like family.
“Fikri we already think like our son,” said Mrs Lee when Fikri was having a serious conversation with Mrs Lee.
“We no longer have children. Our only child died in an accident,” Mrs Lee said.
Nessa just silently heard Mrs Lee say.
“We have many nephews, but none of our nephews do us any good. They just want our treasure,” Mrs Lee said.
“Until when we built a hotel in Bali, that's where we met Fikri. A young man who is very polite to older people. He is also a hard worker. Although he has rich parents, but he is not complacent with the property owned by his parents,” said Mrs Lee.
Oh, huh? Masa, anyway? How come it hasn't looked like that all this time? Nessa asked in her heart.
Nessa turns to Fikri, who is seen talking seriously with Mr. Lee.
“That's why we consider Fikri as our son,” Mrs Lee said.
“We once invited Fikri to join us moving to Singapore, but he did not want to. He said later Mamah would cry if he lived in Singapore,” Mrs Lee said.
“The child is very dear to his Mom. I feel envious, I want to be treated as well,” Mrs Lee said sadly.
“Just relax Mrs Lee, later I will remind Mr. Fikri to visit Singapore often,” said Nessa.
“Really? Thank you, Nessa. You want to remind our favorite child to visit us,” said Mrs Lee.
Soon their orders came.
“Now we eat. My stomach has been rumbling from earlier,” said Mr Lee.
“Come, please eat,” said Mrs Lee let Fikri and Nessa eat.
Nessa did not hesitate to take the food. Because he saw the halal label in front of the restaurant. They eat quietly. After they finished eating, they continued their conversation. Long enough they talked. Like a parent who misses his child.
Until the time showed at half ten p.m. It's time they went home. Mrs Lee also looked tired.
“Don't forget to visit us often,” said Mrs Lee when Fikri said goodbye to go home.
“Of course Mrs Lee,” replied Fikri.
“Don't forget to take Nessa. He will be fired by your Papah if he does not come with you to Singapore,” Mrs Lee said.
“If he is still my secretary, of course I will take him,” replied Fikri.
Then Mrs Lee hugged Fikri.
“We will miss you very much,” said Mrs Lee.
“I will also miss you, Mrs Lee,” replied Fikri.
“Take care of yourself,” said Mrs Lee as she rubbed Fikri's back.
“Of course, Mrs Lee,” replied Fikri.
Then Mrs Lee hugged Nessa.
“Nessa, please take care of our child,” said Mrs Lee.
“Good, Mrs Lee,” replied Nessa.
Then Fikri greeted Mr. Lee. Mr. Lee hugged Fikri.
“You're all right here. If there is any difficulty of my phone,” said Mr Lee.
“Good, Mr Lee,” replied Fikri.
Nessa also greeted Mr. Lee.
“If Fikri misbehaves, tell me,” said Mr Lee.
“Good, Mr. Lee,” replied Nessa.
They left the restaurant together. They split up in the liff. Mr. Lee and Mrs Lee went out on the seventh floor while Fikri and Nessa headed to the basement floor. Inside the liff Nessa accidentally saw Fikri wiping her eyes. Maybe he felt moved when he had to part with Mr and Mrs Lee. Nessa sees Fikri behaving and speaking courteously to Mr and Mrs Lee like an obedient child to her parents.
“Thank you for accompanying me tonight,” said Fikri while in the car.
“Sama-sama, Sir,” replied Nessa.
“Indeed this is not a business meeting. Because they are already I consider like my own parents,” said Fikri.
“It's okay, Sir. I understand,” replied Nessa.
“I deliberately brought you, because in the future I will often pacing to Bali and Singapore. Mr. Lee wants me to take over his company. But I rejected it, because I couldn't possibly handle a lot of companies. I can only help by monitoring it,” said Fikri.
“What a shame the fate of Mr and Mrs Lee. Already her son died, her relatives no one can be trusted,” Nessa said.
“Kok, you know?” ask Fikri.
“So Mrs Lee told me,” replied Nessa.
“Everything became a dilemma for me. On one hand I want to help them. But on the other hand I also cannot ignore my parents,” said Fikri.
“Help Mr and Mrs Lee as much as you can. Because the duty of Pak Fikri is to serve the parents of Mr. Fikri. After all, parents are number one compared to others,” Nessa said.
“That's what I think,” said Fikri.
Then Fikri drove his car out of the hotel basement.
