Four days earlier.

"Yuki-chan .. hurry up, we'll be leaving soon!" a woman from outside the house.

"Alright, ma'am," replied the little girl who ran over dragging her briefcase.

Yuki Hamida Johnson. He is the only child of a married couple, Mark Johnson and Izumi Otsuka.

His father's name is Mark Johnson. He is American. His mother, Izumi Otsuka, is a native of Japan. So, you could say Yuki is an American-Japanese mix.

Yuki was born in Japan but, after turning 5, her father brought them to move to America, because he wanted Yuki to attend school there.

The three of them live in east los angeles, California.

Her paternal grandparents had died before she was born, while her maternal grandparents lived in a rural Osaka-Japanese area.

Every year-end holiday, Yuki's parents take her to Japan's grandparents' house.

Yuki is very happy and excited to go on vacation, because he can meet his friends again there.

*****

28 December 2004. Finally, they arrived at Osaka-Japan international airport.

Grandma and Grandpa were standing there waiting for them.

Yuki ran towards them and hugged the two of them. Of course he was very happy, because the last time he met them, it was last year, when he was seven.

"You're getting bigger, yeah, Yuki-chan. Looks taller than ever, hehe." Grandma smiled as she rubbed her hair.

They went on a rental car ride from the airport to the grandparents' house in the village, and did not forget to buy some fireworks to celebrate the new year.

Arriving at the village, Yuki immediately went to visit the homes of his friends, Hinami, Rin, and Touka. He really can't wait to see them again.

*****

When new year's night comes, they all celebrate in front of the home page of grandma and grandpa.

It was a happy night for everyone.

Neighbors and all the relatives of his mother who came from the city, they gathered to eat, drink sake, and tell stories all night. Yuki could not even sleep until the morning due to the crowd in the house.

At about 6:30 AM, he fell asleep.

That day he woke up at 3:15 PM.

She slept very long, nobody woke her up at the time.

He got out of his bed and headed to the kitchen for a drink.

"Yuki-chan, you're awake, aren't you?" greet the grandmother who is stirring the cake dough.

"Grandma, where are mom and dad?" ask Yuki.

"your father is away taking care of your flight home, while your mother is away with Aunt Miyako and the others to the historic sites in the area" she replied.

"Yuki-chan, where are you going?" ask the granny again who made Yuki's steps stop.

Grandma walked up to him. "Don't play all the way from home, yeah, Yuki-chan. Just play at Rin's house, or in her yard, okay?"

"Alright, Grandma," he answered briefly.

When Yuki had just arrived at the front door, grandfather came past him with an agitated look and headed straight for Grandma in the kitchen. They're talking about something.

Yuki who was a little curious, eavesdropped on their conversation from afar. It's not clear what they're talking about, but it's a glimpse of Grandpa saying "His laundry broke."

Not understanding what they were talking about, he went out to play with his friends.

*****

That afternoon, Yuki, Rin, Touka and Hinami were playing in the plantation area on the outskirts of the village. They ran from the path into the garden.

Yuki who was playing at that time, forgot to warn grandma not to play far away, and without them knowing, they entered a place that was grown by large and tall trees.

The trees were really big, the dense leaves covering the incoming sunlight.

"How about we play hide-and-seek here?" Rin.

"May as well" said the three of them.

They do the Hompimpa to determine who is guarding, and unfortunately, Yuki who gets the guard part at that time.

.

.

".... 7,6,5,4,3,2,1 ... I'm coming!" yuki yelled who started walking looking for them.

"Heemn ... Is it really okay to play in a quiet place like this ?"

"Rin ... Touka .. Where are you? Hinami!" He shouted while walking around the place.

*****

The sky was already looking increasingly dark, and he had yet to find the three of them.

Unknowingly, Yuki had already walked too far into the area.

"Hufft .. why are they so hard to find, my feet are tired of walking" Yuki lamented.

He continued walking and continued to walk deeper, until suddenly the sound of crying came from behind one of the banyan trees that was very wide and tall.

"Rin .. Is that you? Hinami?" Yuki walked over and circled the tree to see who was there.

The voice became clearer and stronger in his ears, and when he reached the source of the voice.

DEG!

Yuki was surprised after seeing a woman sitting crying behind him.

That powerful crying sound slowly dimmed and finally stopped.

"Auntie? What are you doing here?" yuki asked as she walked closer.

The woman then stood up straight.

It made Yuki scared because her body was so tall.

But then the smile turned scary. His eyes that had become red were glaring and his mouth was wide open until it tore both of his cheeks.

It all made Yuki stunned unable to move.

He approached and continued to approach Yuki slowly. Then the woman raised her hand, about to reach him with her pointed black nails.

However, suddenly someone pulled Yuki's hand from behind.

"Yuki-chan! What are you doing here?" Grandfather's repulsion shocked him.

"Grandfather?" confused mumbling.

"We've been looking for you! Rin and Touka said that you entered this place alone, and Hinami chased you into this place. Come on, let's go back! You've made everyone worry!"

"But, cake. She who?" yuki asked while pointing her index finger towards the banyan tree.

He became confused because the figure had suddenly disappeared.

Grandpa's face looks troubled.

Without answering him, he immediately carried Yuki and immediately took him away from there by walking very quickly.

"Where's Hinami-chan? Yuki!" ask grandpa.

"I don't know, we're playing hide-and-seek and I'm trying to find them, Cake" he replied.

"Comebody! Wretched already!" murmured grandfather while continuing to run under the already dark sky.

Arriving at home, Grandma immediately scolded him fiercely. Yuki really did not understand what was happening. One thing he remembered was the creepy woman he had met in the forest.

Grandfather put Yuki on the table and started questioning him about the incident earlier.

"What are you doing there? Who did you go to that place with?" ask grandpa with a serious face.

Yuki told her everything from the beginning, until the moment she met a woman behind a tree.

"Tell me, what is he like? What's he tall?"

Yuki explained everything she saw at that time, and it made grandma close her mouth and her eyes widened.

Grandma clasped Yuki's hand tightly. "What about Hinami-chan? Didn't he follow you into the Forest while Touka and Rin told us here?" tanyakanya.

Yuki could not answer anything other than shaking his head, indicating that he was completely ignorant and confused.

Grandma immediately pulled Grandpa's hand and they talked about something in the room.

The long distance left Yuki unable to hear what the two of them were talking about.

Then they came out and Grandma carried Yuki into her room.

"You keep him here! Don't take your eyes off her, all right? I'll be right back!" firmly grandfather to grandma with a look of restless face.

The confused Yuki could only fall silent.

*****

At 9:30 PM, Grandpa never returned.

"Had grandma told you before, don't play far from home!" said grandma while hugging Yuki tightly.

"What's up, Grandma? Why does Grandpa look rushed like that?" ask Yuki.

"You don't understand what you're dealing with right now! god, if your grandfather had come earlier, I would not have allowed you to leave the house, Yuki-chan!" replied the grandmother who continued her words.

"Yuki-chan, listen to grandma. Now you are being pursued by Naku Josei! He'll definitely haunt you every day until he can take your soul."

"Who is that, Grandma?" ask again.

Grandma looked at Yuki with a sad look on her face, and then started to tell stories.

"This story has been a long time. Long ago ... there was a terrible incident in this village.

There are ghosts who like to kidnap and take the souls of the people he follows. Most of the victims are children, sometimes even adults.

Every day, there are children who disappear. Either they are lost outside, like in the garden, in the river, even inside their own homes.

the villagers called the Ghost Naku Josei, because he was always crying.

Until twenty years before you were born, or rather twenty-eight years ago, villagers called out to some psychics.

They captured and sealed the ghost into an urn, and the urn was hidden inside an old temple in the middle of the forest.

However, this morning the door of the temple was wide open, and the urn that sealed it broke.

They said it was the mountaineers who camped last night. Of all the climbers, only one person was found by the villagers. I don't know what happened to the others ...."

When Grandma was seriously telling a story, suddenly there was a noise from outside, and someone opened the door of the room that turned out to be grandfather.

"Why are you taking so long?" ask grandma.

"I have to prepare all this! It takes a lot of time, but everything is ready and they have come. Hurry up, get him to the living room!" the answer.

Yuki and her grandmother walked out of the room towards the living room.

It was seen there that his mother, Aunt Miyako, and also some people in black were sitting.

They told Yuki to sit in the middle. Then they light a red candle that surrounds Yuki, and then.

Whether what they chanted, Yuki did not understand. For sure, the atmosphere made him uncomfortable.

GECK..GECK..TOK ...

Suddenly their prayers stopped when a knocking at the door sounded.

Izumi, who heard a knock at the door, stood up to open it. But a woman dressed in black gave him a hand code to stop.

Then, it sounded again ...

GECK..GECK..GECK...
