That day on campus when Niken was looking for materials for the task of one of his college eyes when accidentally his gaze was fixed on a row of religious books shelves he was interested in a book called "The Importance of Hijab in Muslim Life." The elegant green on the book cover caught his attention, and curiously, he took it off the shelf.
Niken began to read the book, immersing himself in every word written. Page by page, he began to understand the meaning and meaning of the hijab in the life of a Muslimah. The book opened Niken's eyes to aspects he had never considered before.
While Niken was reading, a shadow of himself with a hijab was drawn in his mind. He thought about how his appearance would change, about the reactions of his friends who had been accustomed to seeing him with his typical tomboyish style. Doubt began to creep into his mind.
The doubt arises because Niken never considered appearance as important. For him, personality and intelligence are the main ones. However, the book helped her see the hijab
as a symbol of respect for his religion and a way to express his faith and values.
Along with the enlightenment he got from the book, Niken began to reflect on himself. He thought about his spiritual life which he had never paid any deep attention to. He questioned whether his appearance was in accordance with the values he wanted to convey.
However, while contemplating, doubts arose. Is Niken ready to change her appearance and wear a hijab? How will his friends react, whether they will accept the change or not
away from her? Will he lose his identity or find something deeper about himself?
That important moment in the library has sparked an inner debate within Niken. She felt stuck between maintaining her appearance that she had always loved or taking a new step by wearing a hijab. Everything feels complicated and confusing.

Doubts within Niken have continued to flounder since the important moment in the library. She faces a conflict between keeping the old look she loves and choosing to wear the hijab as an expression of faith. However, the more Niken reads and talks to experienced people, the more clearly he sees the deeper meaning of hijab.
Niken began to seek a deeper understanding of the hijab and why it is so important in the life of a Muslimah. He read books, attended online lectures, and discussed with more experienced friends. Through this process, Niken began to understand that the hijab was a symbol of respect for religion, a reminder of duty as a Muslimah, and protection from temptation that could tempt the faith.
However, although Niken increasingly understood the importance of the hijab, doubts still haunted him. She wondered about how the hijab would affect her social relationships. He was anxious about the reaction of his friends, whether they would accept this change or stay away from it. The fear of rejection began to block his steps.
In these moments of uncertainty, Niken tries to find support from people who understand his struggle. Friends who are in line with their religious values give spirit and
give an example of how hijab will not hinder his social life. They convince Niken that true friends will remain and accept the change. And the friends in question are Muslim women who are active in the organization of Rohis Faculty of IPS one of which is Sofia and Sriyani to be a place where he asks and learns. Sriyani and Sofia also welcomed Niken's intention to deepen the urgency of hijab for a Muslim woman.
Niken knocked on the door of the mading division room rohis, “ Sofia and Sriyani Hei, this is Niken. Can enter?”
Sofia: open the door with pleasure Oh, Niken! Of course, please come in! Rarely do we see you seeking our advice. What was?
Niken came into the room nervous, “So, look... I've been thinking a lot lately, and I want to talk to you two about something important.”
Sriyani smiles warmly, “certain, Niken. We are here ready to listen. What do you want to say?”
Sofia nodded, “It's nice to hear it, Niken. Using the hijab is an important part of our beliefs, and has a deep meaning for us.”
Sriyani smiled encouragingly, “Hijab is not just a physical aspect; it symbolizes modesty, self-respect, and the desire to please God. It is a way to connect with our inner self and maintain a strong connection with our beliefs.”
Niken listen carefully, “Understand. But, you know, I've always been the relaxed tomboy type. Using a hijab feels like a big change for me. Does it really fit my personality?”
“Niken, hijab does not define a specific personality type. It is a personal choice, and about embracing who
you while aligned with your beliefs. You can still be yourself and wear the hijab. It won't change who you are inside,” Sofia replied with a smile
Sriyani nodded, “Sofia was right. Wearing a hijab does not mean losing your identity; instead, it empowers you to be yourself and strengthens your confidence.”
Niken pondered their words, “I've never thought of it that way. I think I was worried about losing myself, but now it feels different.”
Sofia is encouraging, “Remember, Niken, this is a journey. Like any change in life, it takes time to adapt and grow.”
Sriyani smiles, “True. We will always support you on this journey. You can always look for us if you have any questions or need any advice.”
Niken thank you, “Thank you, both of you. I'm glad I could talk to you about this. It feels like there is a load lifted off the shoulder.”
Sofia smiled lovingly, “We are glad to be of help, Niken. Remember, we are all on our own unique path, and what matters is the intention behind our actions.”
Sriyani nodded, “Betul. Take time, learn, and grow with a rhythm that suits you.”
“We will always support you in every step, Niken. Your decision means a lot,” Sofia said
Sriyani with a smile, “Welcome on the hijab trip, Niken. You won't regret it.”
Through this support and inspiration, the doubts in Niken began to diminish. She began to understand that wearing a hijab was a personal decision that would have a positive impact on her life. Not only as a sign of faith, but also as a means to express the values he professed and become closer to God.
There was one moment when Niken carefully tried to remove her beloved white hat and replace it with a hijab found in the closet. Trying a fast in appearance. It takes
the first step on this new journey. As he looked in the mirror, he saw himself with a new look. He felt firm in his decision and ready to face the challenges to come.
Although there were still doubts that slipped his mind, Niken knew that this was the right move for him. He understands that change will not always be easy, but he is ready to face it with confidence and courage.
