“...What are you doing?”
It was raining, and she – Mahiru Shiina was sitting on the garden swing when Amane Fujimiya first talked to her.
Amane had just started living on his own soon after starting his first year of high school. Living in the apartment to his right is an angel.
Of course, angels are metaphors. Nevertheless, Mahiru Shiina was so beautiful and cute, that the metaphor was no joke.
Her hemp-colored straight hair is well-maintained, smooth and shiny, her white skin is clean and smooth. She had a beautiful nose, a pair of big eyes under her long eyebrows, bright-looking pink lips, and combining all these traits, she had a doll-like refined beauty.
She was at Amane's school, in the same year, and she often heard what others said about her. Most said she was a brainy and muscular girl.
In fact, he maintained first place in every exam they took, always getting good marks during sports class. Amane knows few details about him because they are in different classes, but if the rumors are true, he is a perfect superhuman.
He had no obvious flaws, had a good face, incredible value, and was humble and obedient. No wonder he is popular.
Some boys would be so envious of the prospect of living next to such a beautiful girl.
Even so, Amane had no intention of doing anything to him, and did not think he could do it
Of course, he also felt that Mahiru Shiina's girl was truly charming.
They are just neighbors. Amane never had a chance to talk to her, and never intended to get involved with her.
If he did, he might get the children's jealousy. To be honest, if they could get along with coexisting with each other, the boy who was infatuated with her would not have to suffer so.
And to add, the charm of the opposite sex is not the same as love. As far as Amane is concerned, Mahiru is the most suitable beautiful girl to admire from afar.
For that reason, Amane never expected to get involved with her, let alone a sweet and sour relationship, and she just stayed next to him, never really interacting with him.
So when she saw him daydreaming alone without an umbrella in the rain, “What did he do?” He wondered, looking doubtfully at her.
It was raining so hard, everyone had already run home, yet here he was alone in the park between the school and the apartment, on the swing.
(What did he do in the rain?)
Dark and thick clouds covered the sky, and no light shone, making the surroundings dim. The rain had been going on since morning, causing his visibility to be blurred. But that striking hemp-colored hair and uniform clearly identified Mahiru.
Amane did not understand why he was there without an umbrella, letting the rain soak him.
It seemed that he was not waiting for anyone, and he did not reject the fact that he was wet, just staring lethargicly in a certain direction.
Looking up, the face that was already lacking color pigment looked pale.
If he wasn't careful, he could catch a cold. Even so, Mahiru sat quietly there.
He had no intention of returning home, so it seemed like he wanted to do so. Perhaps no bystander should voice their concerns to him.
So she thought as she prepared to cross the garden of – but at the last moment, she saw her teary face, and scratched her head.
He had no motive to get involved with her at all.
But his conscience would hurt greatly if he let someone with a sad look. That's all that matters.
“...What are you doing?”
Amane spoke to him in a aloof voice, indicating that he had no other intentions. He shook his long hair, seemingly hampered by the absorbed water, and looked towards her.
Her face was beautiful as usual.
Even though he was drenched in rain, the light was still not wet. The rain showed off her face like ornaments. A good girl drenched in the rain, it seemed.
At the very least, it seems Mahiru knows that Amane is his neighbor. They will meet in the morning.
But when she was spoken to, approached by someone completely unrelated to her before, her caramel-colored eyes were a little wary.
“Fujimiya-san. Is there anything you want from me? ”
Ah, so he remembered my name, so he thought. At the same time, he can say that this vigilance is impossible to relax.
They had met before, but they were still strangers. It was expected that he would be on guard after being spoken to.
He may not want to interact much with someone of the opposite sex. Usually, there were several boys from various years who confessed to her, or approached her, and she probably thought they had impure motives.
“Not much. It's just that I'm worried about seeing you alone in the rain like this. ”
“I saw. Thank you for your concern, but I want to stay. Please leave. “
The voice was neither shrill nor alert, and while gentle, his faint voice clearly showed his intention to not ask anyone to investigate further.
(Well, guess that's it.)
Clearly he was hiding something, and Amane had no intention of further investigating his persistent refusal to get anyone else involved.
Amane asked suddenly. Asking for his reasons was only a natural development, not because he cared.
If he just wants to stay, he's fine with it.
Mahiru may be wondering, why is she talking to him, or feeling something like that.
She looked at Amane skeptically with her beautiful face and quickly passed, “I understand.” so Amane replied.
If they continued to talk, he would be hated, so maybe it was time for him to step down.
Lucky for him, whether he had a good impression of her or not, they did not have any relationship. Amane wholeheartedly made the decision to return home and leave her.
However, he felt bad leaving a girl alone, drenched in the rain.
“You'll catch a cold. Take umbrella. You don't have to go back. “
So in the end, Amane was a busy man.
If he gets in the wind, Amane can't sleep well. With such a thought, he handed the umbrella covering his head to her.
She received an umbrella, or rather, she pushed it for him. Before he could speak, he turned around.
He hurriedly left, and behind him, Mahiru called out.
But his voice was so soft, overwhelmed by the rain. He doesn't care, and
quickly passed through the park.
He only hoped that he would not catch a cold, and pushed an umbrella at her. Therefore, the guilt of wanting to ignore it slightly lessened.
Since she refused to speak, Amane had no intention of getting involved with her.
Since nothing happened between them, they would say goodbye.
That was what Amane thought as he rushed home.
