“Please pass here. I'll take you to see the divine weapon upstairs.” The seller rubbed his hands in anticipation of the big sale and continued to persuade Ling Chuxi and Ling Yichen while smiling brightly.
Divine weapons? That must be overkill. Nevertheless, Ling Chuxi understood why they were invited to look at the weapons upstairs. Isn't that because they look like two plump goats, well-bodied, and ready to be slaughtered? The weapons on the top floor obviously have higher quality and certainly at a higher price as well.
"Continue." Ling Yichen stood to the side to allow Ling Chuxi to climb the stairs first. There was no expression on his face or voice as usual.
Just as Ling Chuxi was about to nod as a sign of modesty and climb the stairs, his gaze was fixed on the pile of swords stacked in the corner. The salesman leading the way realized that none of them were following him, so he turned towards Ling Chuxi and saw what he saw.
“Ah, this is an abandoned sword that will be sent to the furnace for renovation. Good weapons are all upstairs. Please, follow me,” obviously the seller patiently. He thought Ling Chuxi was just curious about the old sword.
"A neglected sword to renovate?" repeat Ling Chuxi unconsciously.
“That's right, Miss. A woman like you should have a good sword.” The seller nodded as if he was a chicken pecking at the hard grain in a hurry and gestured for Ling Chuxi to go upstairs. “Please pass here, Miss.”
Ling Chuxi nodded her head and began climbing the stairs leading to the top floor as Little White leaped out of her arms, dashing towards the pile of old swords and standing in front of her.
"What's Little White?" shouted Ling Chuxi, hurriedly chasing after the fox.
The seller was surprised to see Little White jumping out of Ling Chuxi's arms. Upon seeing Little White closer, he felt even more elated. Can a poor man keep a snow-white fox as a pet? This young lady must be someone who is very rich.
Such women usually put more emphasis on the appearance of animals than their use. For example, a savage beast like Little White had a completely different level compared to the powerful monsters possessed by the girl they called a peerless genius in the White Stone Academy.
"What's wrong? Little White?" Ling Chuxi asked anxiously when she reached Little White.
The little fox raised its head to look at it and then returned to the pile of old swords, extending out its claws to draw attention to a certain sword among the others.
"What about this sword?" Ling Chuxi carefully took it out of the pile. The sword was very ordinary in appearance. However, the moment Ling Chuxi touched him, cold energy surged from the sword hilt and flowed through him.
"Miss! Put down the cursed sword immediately!” exclaimed the seller as he rushed forward with a panicked expression.
Ling Yichen who was observing the incident from the foot of the stairs, followed him.
“Cursed sword? Why is it cursed?” ling Chuxi asked with keen curiosity. He found himself unwilling to put it down.
“Please put it, Miss. If you hurt yourself, I don't know what to do.” The seller seemed to be crying. “We will sell this sword if we can because the conditions are still good. But in the past, every time someone bought it, they would somehow hurt themselves. Although the wound was never serious, the fact that it happened so often meant that the sword carried misfortune. That's damned. After the sword is returned to us and resold, the same will happen again.”
The iron shop owner felt that there was something evil about the sword and decided to send it to the furnace to be melted down. "Lay now!" The seller was worried Ling Chuxi would hurt himself at the moment of recklessness and then blamed the store.
Ling Chuxi was astonished by what the seller had leaked because he was interested in the sword. It produced a different feeling when he held it in his hand.
"How much is this sword?" Ling Chuxi asked as calmly as possible.
"Miss ... You want this sword?" The seller was both scared and disappointed. He thought he would be able to secure a large transaction, but this well-dressed young lady instead wanted to buy an abandoned sword? He could not shake his fear of the consequences of selling this sword to Ling Chuxi. If he bought the sword just to complain about his injuries and ask for compensation from them, what should he do? “No, Miss. There is no point in buying this sword. It would be better for you to go upstairs and choose another one. This one does not deserve you,” the seller suggested solemnly.
“Oh, you misunderstood. What if I don't buy it for myself? Can't I give it to someone I hate? That guy could get hurt every day for everything I care about.” Ling Chuxi let a sly smile spread across her face without a care to lay down her sword. “If there are any complications with respect to this purchase, I will be responsible for it. I will not return the things I have bought from you, nor will I trouble you any further. What the hell are you saying? Will you tell me how much this sword cost?”
"If that's the case, a good and clever trick!" the seller sighed in relief as he began to praise Ling Chuxi. If this is the case, everything is fine. A strange young lady this one, had thought of such a terrifying trick. The seller had no idea who would be the unlucky owner of the cursed sword, but it was none of his business. Selling a used sword with a small profit was a pretty good arrangement for him. He could have told the shopkeeper that the sword was sent to the furnace and that was it, right?
“One tael of silver is enough,” proposed the seller after doing some calculations in his head. Selling an abandoned sword at such a price was not a bad thing at all.
Ling Yichen threw the silver bar into the seller's hand. That's equal to three to four taels. "Save the change," he insinuated coldly. The seller gladly received the payment and gave Ling Chuxi a sword sheath for free.
“Alright, we will go,” said Ling Chuxi. He smoothly slipped the sword into its scabbard and turned to leave.
"But, Miss, don't you want to see the weapons upstairs?" ask the seller in surprise.
“If this sword is cursed as you imagine, then maybe I will visit you again,” Ling Chuxi replied with a grin. "If not, then there may be a problem."
“Ah, so! Don'worry. Don'worry. This sword must be cursed!” The seller placed a hand on his chest as an indication of the sincerity of his words.
"Very good. I'll be back after I confirm this matter to myself.” Ling Chuxi then smiled at the seller and took him away while holding the sword and Little White. Ling Yichen immediately came out afterwards, her face remained as expressionless as ever.
As he walked along the busy road, Ling Chuxi patted his new sword hanging on his waist in satisfaction. There must be some complexity to this sword. His intuition told him that much.
"Who are you going to give me that sword?" asked Ling Yichen suddenly. He is now walking beside her.
“I didn't give it to anyone. I plan to save it,” replied the insolent Ling Chuxi. “Oh, before I forget, thank you very much for paying my sword, Ling Yichen. You will live long and prosper like all good people.”
A barely visible movement flashed across Ling Yichen's lips before she turned to walk to the stage station. After taking a few steps, he saw Ling Chuxi not moving from where she was standing. He stopped walking and turned to look at her blankly.
Ling Chuxi became distracted. When he realized Ling Yichen was staring at him, he sneered. “Yes geez. I'm coming, I'm coming. Why don't you try to have more facial expressions? Looks like your face is paralyzed. No wonder even your admirers stayed away,” Ling Chuxi muttered softly as she rushed over to catch up with him. He knew he intended to urge him to return to Shi Qu City with him but did not know how to ask. In fact, he prided himself on being able to decipher the emptiness of such an expression.
Along the way, Ling Chuxi affectionately held onto the hilt of her new sword. He liked it so much, he didn't want to let go. Ling Yichen closed her eyes all the way. It was already night time when they arrived at Shi Qu City. After saying goodbye to Ling Yichen at the station, Ling Chuxi happily returned home.
Unfortunately, his happiness was short-lived. The smile on his face froze as soon as he reached his gate.
On his doorstep, two despicable people were waiting. Qin Xiruo and Ling Xiaoting! Now, who is Ling Xiaoting, you ask? She is the person who used to be “liked” by Ling Chunxi.
