The next day Ferry went straight to the civil registry to register her baby and put her in her household.
Ferry came home happy. He often smiled foolishly along the way and people thought he was crazy.
"Why is he smiling to himself? Is he crazy?"
"Don't say it too loudly, he'll hear it and get angry!"
Ferry heard some of the scorn of the people, but he did not care because his heart was happy.
Reina's aunt told the villagers in Dead Pig Village that she was gossiping and chatting with her friends.
"Do you guys know? Ferry and Parwati are now raising a baby!"
"What's? When did they have children?"
"Yes, right, didn't they have no children before? Why are they raising a baby all of a sudden?"
"When Parvati got pregnant? I never saw her stomach grow!"
"The bet is right!"
"Oh, right! It was probably his toddler niece! He must have agreed to take his nephew from his sister as his adopted son!"
"Really! His sister already had two children, and giving his youngest child to Ferry was not a problem because Ferry was the richest man in the village of Dead Pig and his son would inherit his uncle's wealth."
"Giving your child to your rich brother is a smart strategy! Later on the given child will inherit the wealth of his adoptive family and he must share the wealth with their biological parents!"
Since they started to talk a no-no, Aunt Reina immediately rebuked them!
"You're wrong!" reprimanded Aunt Reina Diana Primate.
"Wrongly? You mean the little boy on Ferry wasn't his sister's son??"
"When did I say Ferry took his sister's son?!"
Reina's aunt glared at her friends and said, "Ferry found a baby in the woods yesterday."
Aunt Reina let out a long sigh before returning to speak.
"The baby was full of knife scratches on his body and was in a dehydrated state. Looks like her mother refused to breastfeed the baby and threw it into the woods."
"What?! Which woman does not breastfeed her own baby? Why did she throw the baby into the woods?!"
"Is the baby an illegitimate baby or an illegitimate baby?"
"It could have been, if the baby was a legitimate baby, there was no way he would have been thrown out!"
"It could also be a baby from a prostitute or a baby from an examination, right? If true, of course his mother refused to raise him and chose to throw him into the forest!"
"That's not true! Even if it's a rape baby, it should be aborted when the womb is young. Why did she have to wait to give birth to him before she threw him away??"
"Babies are illegitimate or legitimate, there is nothing wrong with them. What was wrong was his irresponsible parents!"
"True, all babies are holy born without sin."
One of the women asked Aunt Reina.
"Aunt Reina, you said Ferry and Parwati were raising the baby, did they intend to raise the baby and put it in their household?!"
Aunt Reina nodded.
"It was good to let them both raise the baby, they were rich and wanted children so badly. They're barren anyway."
Aunt Reina told her friend, and from her friends they told the other residents that in just a day the entire village of Dead Pig had learned that Ferry was raising a baby.
Ferry went home, he did not care about the people's gazes at him along the way.
Ferry opened the door and was greeted by his nursing wife Layi with goat's milk.
His wife was happy to see Ferry.
"Mas, have you enrolled our baby into our household?"
"Yes, of course. Layi's business is done, he's officially our son."
His wife's smile was getting brighter.
"Good then."
The days of Ferry and Parwati in the future are busy with taking care of the baby. After one week, the scratches on the baby's body disappear. They are happy because the appearance of baby Layi is getting cute and handsome without scratches on his body.
Changes occur in this couple, namely they feel their domestic life becomes complete with the presence of baby Layi. Although they had to take turns washing the diapers of poop-stained babies and Layi's pee, they felt it wasn't troublesome at all. Because they really love baby Layi.
News of Ferry taking a baby as his son has been heard all the way to the neighboring village.
The Sawo Village Avocados.
"Mas, did you know that there was a rumor that your brother had taken a baby for him to raise?" ask Maria.
Maria is a resident of Sawo Avocado Village, she is married to Nanang who is the younger brother of Ferry which makes her the sister-in-law of Ferry.
"I just heard it this morning," replied Nanang.
Maria was agitated, "Have you checked if your sister really raised the baby she picked up from the forest?"
"I haven't, but because the one who told me was our neighbor who had entered the Village of the Dead Pig yesterday and had seen with his own eyes the baby, it is certain that my brother has actually raised a baby of unclear origin as his adopted son."
"Mas, we can't let your sister raise that baby! Later the treasure will fall to the baby and we will get nothing!"
Nanang was also anxious like his wife Maria. He wanted his brother's property just like his wife.
Ferry and Nanang's parents are natives of Dead Pig Village. Both of them love Nanang more than Ferry. Therefore, before the death of his parents, they bequeathed 50 hectares of land in Sawo Avocado Village to Nanang and only bequeathed 2 hectares of land that still had to be processed at the Ferry in Babi Mati Village.
Nanang gladly received a large land in Sawo Avocado Village and then married the woman in the village and eventually became a villager and was blessed with two children. The youngest is 3 years old and the eldest is 10 years old.
While Ferry had to struggle hard to cultivate 2 hectares of land to be planted and work odd jobs to meet the needs of his life.
He eventually opened a trading business and had free success and eventually bought farmland in his village. He now owns 209 hectares of farmland and is the richest man in his village. He then married Parwati, a local resident who had been his lover since he was still in a state of struggling for a bite of rice.
Ferry's life change that became rich has led to the jealousy of his sister and sister-in-law.
Fortunately Ferry was barren so had no children and Nanang thought he would inherit his brother's wealth once his brother died without an heir.
He also tried to make his youngest child to be included in the Ferry household to be taken care of as Ferry's adopted child so that he could secure Ferry's property in the future. Doesn't the child's property belong to his parents? that was what Nanang and his wife thought.
Unfortunately Ferry rejected their son on the grounds that he and his wife were not barren and would later have their own children.
Nanang and Maria are disappointed, but thinking that Ferry and Parwati are barren and will have no children, they feel better in the end.
