Pattimura High School consists of 15 classes, each of which consists of 30 students. Most of them are from the upper middle class. If there are students who are less able, they can enter Pattimura High School with the help of merit scholarships.
It's 02.53 noon, it's a sign that not until 10 minutes later the class will disperse. After the pandemic ended, the government implemented a full-day learning system, which means students will start activities at 07.30 am to 03.00 pm. There are three times of rest, namely at 09:30 at 11:30 and 13:30 at noon.
Melinda taught in five classes, from grades 12 A to 12 E. And at the moment, the woman is in 12th grade B which is calmer than the children in 12th grade E.
"Good kids, get here to our class today. Better get your things done and prepare yourself to go home. The weather is cloudy and I'm afraid you'll be rained before you get to the parking lot or reach the front bus stop" Melinda said with a sweet smile.
"Okay, Ma'am ...." The kids in the class answered. But there was one boy who raised his hand instead of cleaning the book on the table.
Melinda has a pretty good memory, especially if the child is a smart child who can always answer the questions that he asked in class.
"Mom?"
"Yes, Bram? Is there something you want to ask?" asked Melinda who had finished compiling the textbook on her desk.
"Who's mother came home? Would I take you home?" tanya Bramasta Yudha who is one of the smartest children in the class. Previously, Melinda thought if a smart child like Bram would have a calm nature and more toward shy, but it turns out Bram is far from her estimate.
"Huuu ...." Cheers from Bram's classmates echoed throughout the classroom. It seems, they all know very well how Bram behaves.
"No need, Bram. My contract is not far from here. After all, the mother chose to take the bus to avoid the rain" Melinda said hoping that the child would not be disappointed.
Bram smiled and did not reply again. Melinda thought, if Bram would understand and stop trying to drive her home.
However, what Melinda thought turned out to be far off. Outside the classroom, Bram again invites Melinda to come home with him.
Exasperated by the invitation, Melinda stopped her footsteps and folded her hands in front of her chest.
"Well, what a coincidence that is, Mom! After this, I had hours of practice swimming with the other kids at the swimming club. After Mom finishes later, I will also finish training. Looks like we're destined to go home together, ma'am!" suhut Bram who made Melinda run out of excuses.
Melinda took a deep breath and threw it away slowly. Young people at this age like Bram do have such a high level of curiosity and great desire. If they want something, they will think of a thousand reasons to get it.
"Actually, there's no harm either .. go home with him. The bus fare money I can divert for dinner," Melinda inner tried to accept. "Yes already. If so, it's up to you" Melinda said in the end.
Bram looked so excited by Melinda's answer just now. Seeing that, Melinda pulled the corners of her lips together and formed a single thin smile, before she finally turned around to continue stepping towards the office.
But not far away, there was someone who stopped Melinda's steps again.
"What else, Br— uh, Rangga? What's the matter, Ga?" asked Melinda, who had thought Bram was the one who stopped her footsteps.
"I'll drive you home, yuk!" take Rangga coldly. Both of his hands fit into the pockets of gray pants, which look exclusively stitched unlike the pants of a typical High School kid.
Melinda smiled wryly, "Sorry, Ga. I have business in the office. Then after that there are other affairs in the porous pavilion," said Melinda weakly. He was confused by some of his new students at the school. Why did they offer to take her home? "Don't they make a bet, huh?" melinda without foundation.
"Actually, I also still have swimming classes after this. Training for the championship next month. About what time you finished, huh? The weather's getting cloudy, ma'am. I'd better take the car. How's it?" ask Rangga again.
"Mother is done around 04:00 or 05:00. Even so ... Mother still can't come with you. You see, I have another ride, Ga," said Melinda, remembering her promise with Bram.
As a teacher who was a role model for her students at school, Melinda could not possibly break the promise. It could backfire on him someday.
"Oh. Yes, that is it." Rangga raised both eyebrows once, then left Melinda alone.
"I'd better find out about them. If they actually make a bet and I'm the object, be prepared to regret and apologize!" Melinda continued her footsteps back to the office. He wants his business done quickly and wants to go home soon.
