Chapter 3. The Exhausting Journey
After a few hours of their journey, Ma Guang heard the sound of the river flowing.
Ma Guang headed straight towards that direction, and it was true, he saw a river whose water looked very clean.
Ma Guang lowered Xia Jiao on a rock in the river, then said goodbye to Xia Jiao for wanting to clean her body which had not felt the freshness of the water in the past few days.
"Miss Xia Jiao, I went to clean my body first....!!??." Ma Guang.
Hearing that, Xia Jiao nodded her head in a sign of what Ma Guang was going to do and it was also what was wrapped up in Xia Jiao's head.
"Awwww....!!!". Xia Jiao immediately shouted as her feet dipped into the water which made her wound feel very sore.
Hearing Xia Jiao's shout, Ma Guang immediately grabbed his sword and darted quickly to head towards Xia Jiao.
After Ma Guang arrived near Xia Jiao and looked towards her. Xia Jiao instantly fell silent and stared intently at Ma Guang who was standing mighty while grasping the sword in her right hand.
No more screams came out of Xia Jiao's mouth. All there was was was a sharp look with his eyes glaring towards Ma Guang.
"Miss Xia Jiao, what happened....??? Why are you yelling....???." The question that came straight out of Ma Guang's mouth.
After asking, Ma Guang did not get an answer from Xia Jiao's mouth, all she found was Xia Jiao's gaze toward her body.
Seeing that, Ma Guang immediately realized that something was wrong with him.
Ma Guang immediately looked at his body and instantly blushed his face immediately because he was embarrassed by his current state.
Not waiting for any more cue, Ma Guang immediately darted back to his original place at a speed that was probably faster than his movements when he heard the screams from Xia Jiao.
"Why can I forget if I don't wear my clothes." Ma Guang muttered as he arrived at his original place.
In contrast to what Ma Guang experienced, Xia Jiao was just speechless and her mind drifted without direction from thinking about what she had just seen, she said, he no longer felt the pain caused by his wounds that had been submerged in the water.
About 2 hours passed, but no sound came out of the mouths of the two teenagers.
Both of them were feeling awkward about what had happened.
Finally Ma Guang walked towards Xia Jiao and directly spoke to melt the awkwardness.
"Miss Xia Jiao, are you also going to cleanse your body...???." Ma Guang.
"Yes...!!!."
Xia Jiao briefly replied while nodding her head.
"Can the lady walk alone behind the stone...???."
Ma Guang casually asked expressionlessly as if nothing had just happened.
Xia Jiao nodded her head and immediately tried to walk.
But just one step he did, his body immediately fell into the river because it could not withstand the pain generated from the wounds on the soles of his feet.
Ma Guang immediately moved towards Xia Jiao.
"Miss Xia Jiao, let me help you...!!!???." Said Ma Guang as he extended his hand.
Xia Jiao was silent for a moment but immediately welcomed a hand from Ma Guang, as she was indeed aware of her current state.
Ma Guang immediately carried the girl's body and headed behind a boulder so that she could clean her body without being seen by Ma Guang or by anyone else.
While waiting for the clothes to dry, Ma Guang prepared food for the two of them.
That day they did not continue their journey.
The next day they continued their journey.
After a few hours of travel, the two of them met a middle-aged man who was about 60 years old walking while carrying a piculan that had a basket at both ends that contained growing - a kind of herb - spices.
After approaching, Ma Guang immediately greeted the man.
"Sir, sorry to interrupt the time...!!! May I ask...???." While putting on a pleading facial expression.
"Yes, can...!!! What are you gonna ask...???." Looking up at the two teenagers.
"Is it from here, there's a nearby village...???." Ma Guang.
"Oh, if from here, maybe the distance is still about another day to travel if on foot." Answer the man.
"What if you two stop by first at my residence, considering that it's soon dark, so it's good that you both rest in my residence first and then continue the journey tomorrow." Continue the man.
Hearing that, Ma Guang and Xia Jiao fell silent and stared at each other.
Seeing that, the man immediately lowered the weight off his shoulder and immediately introduced his name.
"My name is Su Tian...!!!." Said the middle-aged man.
Ma Guang immediately told them the names of the two of them.
"My name is Ma Guang and he is Xia Jiao." Ma Guang.
After introducing each other's names, the middle-aged man again lifted his load and immediately walked over.
Looking at the facial expressions and appearances of the old man, Ma Guang could feel that the old man was a good person. So he followed her directly from behind.
After walking some time later, they had arrived at a house that was not too big.
"Come, please come in. Don't pay too much attention to the situation inside my hut."
Said the man with a small smile towards the two teenagers who were standing staring at the door of his house.
After hearing the middle-aged man's words, Ma Guang immediately entered the hut and lowered Xia Jiao right on the existing seat.
The middle-aged man immediately tidied up the luggage earlier while cooking something in the kitchen.
"Is it okay - what if we are both in this place...???".
Xia Jiao asked with a whisper to Ma Guang's ear.
"I think this old man is a good man."
Ma Guang replied in a whisper.
An hour later, the middle-aged man headed to the living room with soup-like food just finished in his cooking.
"Come, let's eat first. I know you two are so exhausted from just taking a long trip." Said the middle-aged man.
Ma Guang and Xia Jiao had yet to make a move to pick up the soup that was in front of them. But the middle-aged man immediately took the soup for him and immediately ate it.
Seeing that, Ma Guang immediately took the soup for him as well as for Xia Jiao.
Xia Jiao and Ma Guang's eyes immediately looked as if Xia Jiao was asking Ma Guang whether the soup they were going to eat was safe or whether it did not contain the poison.
Despite seeing the gaze of Xia Jiao's eyes filled with question marks, Ma Guang still directly put the soup into his mouth.
The attitude of the two teenagers was certainly inseparable from Su Tian's attention and he did understand the situation felt by the two teenagers.
After a few seconds, Ma Guang swallowed the soup.
Ma Guang's face then turned red quickly and it was also seen by Xia Jiao with question marks because she was curious and afraid of what Ma Guang was going through.
"Ma Guang....What happened....???." Xia Jiao asked with a panicked face.
