Austin is my friend's sister. He recently joined his family business and was supposed to be a good man. It's a guy Jane really wants. That's why I refused to introduce them. Shut up Alex, it's not like you love Jane. He can be with anyone. I introduced them. What happened next surprised me. They said their pleasantries like they were eager to get to know each other. "WHAT? I told you I wasn't interested." I almost snapped at her and this time when I turned to look at Jane. He laughed at something Austin said. This is the first time I've seen him laugh. I swear I forgot to breathe for a moment. But it wasn't me who made her smile. Something is spinning inside me. "But Mr. Mason is interested." Hydes tried to get my attention. "In what?" "Why didn't you tell me?" This time Hyde asked. "I'm telling you now. And by the way, it's a private event. Only family and friends are invited." I said as I looked towards Hyde. And Hydes looks hurt. The dealer reaches out to start the game at our table. Everyone stood up and looked everywhere except for Jane. Yes, they know me well not to mess with me. My one hand was on Jane's thigh and I could feel that she was relaxed now, a huge relief to me.

"Congratulations. I might buy a gift only if I'm told." Hydes said with sarcasm without seeing me or Jane. "Well, now you know and yeah remember that he's allergic to cheap stuff." I try to get a point out of him. And I could see that he was angry. The dealer finishes setting the table for five people to play when another man comes to our table. "May I get this chair." He took a seat right next to Anthony. But that chair was next to Jane too. And if I'm not mistaken the guy's eyes are on Jane. And I feel Jane's body is getting too tense. He looked at her like he was seeing a ghost.

I screamed in my mind. But then I noticed that he was a Mason. I've seen him at a party before, but he doesn't seem important enough to remember his name. A waiter came and gave Mason a drink. He catches the glass and passes it on to Jane. Jane looked at the drink and then looked at Mason. His eyes showed that he was afraid. And I don't think I'm the only one who's interested when Jane's eyes show her clear emotions of "Beverage to the prettiest girl." She teases Jane who still holds the glass in her hand. The whole table became tense again except for Mason who did not know that he was flirting with my wife. A waiter passed my table. Taking a drink from the tray, I passed it on to Jane. "He did not receive a drink from dirty hands" I told Mason with a frown on my face.

Jane looked at the drink and then looked at my face. But in the next moment, he received my glass and brought it closer to his mouth.
