After graduating and becoming a Bachelor of Medicine, we are obliged to follow Koas (Co-Assistant).
The Koas period will last for two years, the young doctors who undergo Koas will go down directly to serve patients under the guidance of the Hospital Consultant.
In general, koas tasks include interviewing patients, reading X-ray results, following surgery and inspecting wards.
In that time, the Koas will implement the knowledge we get on the college bench.
As a Koas we will be rotated in several departments or specialists, from obstetric gynocology to surgery.
Typically, medical students will spend four to eight weeks on each coas rotation.
The resident physician will help evaluate the patient's clinical status and determine appropriate changes to the medical plan each day.
With koas, medical students will learn to recognize and cope with diseases, according to the conditions in the field, based on previously studied theories.
When dealing with patients, medical students will gain hands-on experience.
And the stages of becoming a doctor do not stop at Koas alone.
After that we have to follow the Student Competency Test Doctor Profession Program to get a doctor's degree.
Is it done there? Haven't. There are still doctor's vows, Intership and PPDS.
After the inauguration of the doctor's oath, we underwent an internship program which is a government program to place newly graduated doctors in various cities in Indonesia for one year.
If we are lucky we can be placed in big cities such as Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya.
For 1 year, I will be placed in the hospital for 8 months and Puskesmas for 4 months.
But especially for the Jakarta area, we will be placed in hospital for 4 months and Puskesmas for 8 months.
After the internship, Euis will immediately take a specialist oncology.
Indeed, the education of a doctor to become a specialist is a journey that takes a short time.
When friends who study at other faculties can work and pursue their careers, we still have to follow every stage until finally we can become a doctor.
But in order to pursue his ideals, Euis had to spirit through the stages.
Cindy and Monic just got back from Euis boarding.
Since they work on scientific papers, it has become their routine to work on scientific papers simultaneously.
They always work on moving, sometimes at Euis boarding houses, in campus libraries, in campus parks or in nearby coffee shops.
