Violet, can you not rub your nose in it. Laville muttered inwardly. He felt a throbbing pain in his head.
The amount of content that Laville has forgotten is considered to be numerous, but it also cannot be ignored. The interview was in three days, so how could he find the time to make up for it …?
Moreover, he was involved in strange paranormal activity, so how could he possibly want to revise?
Laville gave an indifferent response to her sister and began to look like she was studying. Violet moved the chair to sit beside her. With the light shining from the gas lamp, he began to do his job.
The atmosphere feels calm. When it was almost eleven, the siblings said good night to each other and went to bed.
…
Knock it!
Knock it! Knock it!
The knock on the door woke Laville from her dream.
He peered out the window to see the first glimmer of dawn. In a daze, he flipped over and sat down.
"Who is this?"
Look at the time now! Why didn't Violet wake me up?
"It's me. Dunn Stein," replied a man with a heavy voice outside the door.
Stein Dunn? Laville got off her bed and shook her head as she walked towards the door.
He opened the door to see the grey-eyed police inspector he had met the day before standing in front of him.
Worried, Laville asked, "Is something wrong?"
The policeman replied with a stern look, "We found a train driver.
He testified that you had gone to Mr. Welech's place on the 27th — day when Mr. Welech and Ny Nayla died. Besides, Mr. Welech is the one who pays for your transportation costs."
Laville surprised. He did not feel the slightest bit of fear or guilt as expected of his lies.
That's because he didn't even lie. In fact, he was surprised by the evidence provided by Dunn Stein.
On June 27, former Laville did go to Mr. Welech's place. On the night he returned, he committed suicide, just like Welech and Nayla did.
Laville gave a forced smile and said, "This is insufficient evidence. It doesn't directly prove that I'm linked to the deaths of Welech and Nayla. To be honest, I was also very curious about the entire incident. I wonder what exactly happened to my two poor friends. But. But I really can't remember. I almost completely forgot what I did on the 27th. You may find it hard to believe, but I fully believe in the diary I wrote to roughly guess that I have gone to the Welech place on the 27th."
"You really have great mental fortitude" Dunn Stein said as she nodded. He did not show the slightest hint of anger; he did not smile either.
"You should be able to hear my sincerity," Laville looked straight into her eyes and said.
I'm telling the truth! Of course, only part!
Dunn Stein did not immediately respond. He swept his gaze across the room before saying slowly, "Mr. Welech lost the gun. I think I should be able to find it here. Doesn't it? Mr. Laville?"
Laville finally understood where the gun came from. A thought flashed through his mind and he arrived at the final decision in an instant.
He raised his hand in half and retreated, leaving the road open. Then, he beckoned to the bunk bed with his chin.
"After the bed."
He did not specifically mention that it was the lower deck, as there was usually nothing to hide the items behind the bed board on the upper deck. It would be too obvious for guests to notice at a glance.
Dunn Stein did not move forward. The corner of his mouth twitched as he asked, "There's nothing to add?"
Without hesitation, Laville replied, "There is!"
“Yesterday, when I woke up in the middle of the night, I realized that I was lying on my desk with a gun beside me. There's a bullet in the corner of the room.I'm like a suicide. But due to lack of experience for never using a gun, or maybe I was too scared at the last moment .. Anyway, the bullet did not achieve the desired result, my head was still in place, I'm alive now."
"And since then, I've lost some memories, including what I saw and did at Welch's place on the 27th. I really don't remember."
To be dismissed as a suspect. In order to get rid of all the strange events surrounding her, Laville explained almost everything that had happened. Except, transmigration and "meetings".
Also, Laville was careful with her words, leaving every sentence acceptable. Like, it doesn't reveal the fact that the bullet has hit his brain, but just mentions that it didn't achieve the desired result, and that his head is still in place.
To others, these two statements may seem to convey the exact same idea, but in reality they are like chalk and cheese.
Dunn Stein listened quietly, then said, "This is in line with what I expected. This also corresponds to the hidden logic of similar incidents in the past. Of course, I don't know how you can survive."
"I'm glad you believe me. I don't know how I survived either." Laville breathed a sigh of relief.
"But—" Dunn threw out the conjuncture. "It is useless for me to trust you. You are currently the prime suspect.you must be confirmed by 'experts' that you indeed forgot what you were going through, or that you did have nothing to do with the death of Mr . Welech and Miss Nayla."
He coughed, his expression becoming serious.
"Mr Laville, I beg your cooperation to come with me to the police station for an investigation. It'll take about two to three days if it's certain there's no problem with you."
Didn't they say it would take two more days?
"He came earlier than expected." Dunn turned to the side, gesturing for Laville to leave.
"Allow me to leave a note" Laville said.
Lean is still away and Violet goes to school. He could only leave a note to tell them he was involved in an incident related to Welch so they wouldn't worry about him.
Dunn nodded, barely caring. "Good."
Laville went back to the table. As he searched for the paper, he began to think about what was going to happen.
To be honest, he did not want to meet with an 'expert'. After all, he had a bigger secret.
In a place where there were seven large churches and a non-orthodox church, on the premise that Emperor Kione Benaporte, who was thought to be the predecessor of transmigration, was killed, things like 'transmigration' it usually means having to go to court and enter judgment!
But, without weapons, combat skills, or superpowers, he was no match for a professional police officer. Moreover, some of Dunn's subordinates stood in the darkness outside.
Once they pull their guns and shoot me, I'll be out!
"Ugh, I'll take one step at a time." Laville leaves the note, takes the key, and follows Dunn out of the room.
Along the dark alley, four policemen in black-and-white checkered uniforms scattered and guarded them on both sides. They're very alert.
Knocks. Knocks. Knocks. Laville followed beside Dunn as they descended the wooden stairs that occasionally creaked in protest.
Outside the apartment, there is a four-wheeled train. On the side of the carriage, there was a police coat of arms "two crossed swords and a crown". Their surroundings were bustling and bustling with noise as usual.
"Come, up." Dunn gestured for Laville to leave first.
Laville was just about to step forward when an oyster salesman suddenly caught a customer and claimed he was a thief.
Both sides grappled and triggered a response from the horse, causing a huge mess.
A chance!
There wasn't much time for Laville to think any further, she leaned forward and ran towards the crowd.
Either pushing or dodging, he fled frantically towards the other end of the road.
Right now, for the sake of not "meeting" with his experts, he could only continue by going to the pier outside the city, taking a boat down the Moele River and escaping to the capital, Synter. The population is higher there, making it easier to hide.
Of course, he could also take a steam train, go east to nearby Mernald Harbor and take the sea route to Portez, then head for Synter.
Not long after, Laville arrived at a street and turned to Iron Cross Street. There are several cars that can be rented.
"To the pier outside the city." Laville stretched out her hand and jumped onto one of the carriages.
He had thought things through clearly. First, he had to mislead the police who came for him. Once the carriage was at an appropriate distance from them, he would jump right away!
"All right." The driver pulled control.
The clap! The clap! The train then left Iron Cross Street.
Just as Laville was about to jump off the carriage, she noticed that it had turned into another path. It doesn't lead out of town!
"Where are you going?" Laville exclaimed in a momentary daze.
"To Welch's place." replied the train driver in a monotonous tone.
What's up!? Laville was at a loss for words. The carriage driver turned around, revealing his icy gray eyes. That's Dunn Stein, the gray-eyed cop!
"You!" Laville's confused. Everything suddenly became blurred as if the world was revolving around him as he immediately sat down.
To sit? Laville looked around, confused. He saw a red moon outside the window and the room was covered in a red veil.
He stretched out his hand to feel his forehead. Everything is damp and cold. Cold sweat. His back feels exactly the same.
"It was a nightmare .." Laville sighed. "All is well .. All is well …"
He feels weird. He was somewhat clear-minded in his dreams, he could even think calmly!
Once it calmed down, Laville looked at her pocket watch. It was only two in the morning. He got out of bed quietly and planned to go to the restroom where he could wash his face and empty his developing bladder.
He opened the door and walked along the dark corridor. Under the dim moonlight, he walked lightly towards the restroom.
Suddenly, he saw a silhouette outside the window at the end of the corridor. The silhouette wore a black jacket that was shorter than a coat, but longer than a jacket.
The silhouette was partially disguised in darkness, bathed in red moonlight. The silhouette turned around slowly. His eyes were deep, gray, and cold.
Dunn Stein!?
