"Can we talk for a minute" Laura said.
"Sorry, Mom. Cannot. I'm again at work," replied Naya politely.
"Well, I'll wait for you to finish work. What time are you home?" ask Laura again. A smile remained on his lips.
"A little while, Mom." Naya glanced at the wall clock hanging on the wall. "I close the store at ten o'clock."
"alright. I'm waiting for you outside."
Naya again could only nod. Though puzzled he had no reason to reject the woman.
Second by second passed until Naya's working hours were completed. The elegant-looking woman was still near her shop working. Alphard's luxury car is parked at the end of the yard.
"Naya, here!" laura said after opening the car window.
Naya hesitated to approach. "sorry. What's actually necessary, huh?" he asked after getting into the car and sitting next to him
Laura.
Without Naya guessing, Laura clasped her hand then smiled sincerely. A second later she cried.
"Well, why are you crying?" ask Naya, astonished. He was drowning there. Unfortunately there was no one but the two of them. Naya just let Laura cry without being able to do anything.
"I'm sorry Auntie, Naya. I'm sorry that Auntie just met you now. It's been many years Auntie realized your existence but never met," said Laura in between sobs. Sounds so sad to
Naya is confused.
"What mother is it? Do we know?" ask Naya again.
Laura wiped her tears. His eyes looked at Naya. "Tante's Burhan's wife, your father."
Naya's eyes were round. He took Laura's hand off quickly. "I'm sorry, I don't know what Mom meant. I think Mom's wrong."
"Don't do this Naya" Laura replied, she grabbed Naya's hand again as she held it. "You're his real son. Aunt is not your real mother. But still, you still have a relationship with Auntie because you're Aunt's husband's son. So please don't do this. Don't ignore us."
"ignored?" Naya chuckled. He ignored Laura's longing gaze and turned his gaze forward. Really, his blood rippled for a moment.
"Isn't the word more appropriate for you?" naya continued without looking at Laura.
"Follow Aunt, Nay. Auntie heard your grandmother was dead, "asked Laura again after successfully stopping the tears.
"Then why? I can take care of my own life. So don't feel guilty" Naya replied, sounding cold. He got out of the car, bowed a little and looked back at Laura. "Sorry, Mom. I can't, I love living here. And also, sorry on behalf of mom who messed up your family. So, I hope this is our first and last meeting."
Naya twists her heels, but again stops as Laura calls out to her. "Think, Naya. Think again."
Naya did not respond, she stepped forward leaving the luxury car just like that. It felt like there was an invisible dagger piercing the chest. Just a week ago he lost a loved one and now he too must accept the strange reality. The wife legitimately asked him to stay. It's totally beyond belief.
It wasn't long before Naya's phone vibrated. Although not an android like other girls, but a black and white screen phone that's the only connection Naya with some friends.
Naya attached the object to her ear and within a second her eyeballs were rounded wide. He sprinted and headed for his bicycle parked there.
Stay at home. Naya slumped straight to the ground. The house, ah no, rather the simple hut where he had lived all this time turned out to be flat with the ground. Scorched, there's not a single thing left. Even his diploma, which is only a High School graduate, burned down along with other people's houses.
Somehow at first, but clearly the five semi-permanent houses on the left and right of the house Naya also had ludes eaten by the red whiz.
Naya as she pleased, she sat on the ground with a busy man passing by extinguishing the remnants of the fire. Not only Naya, some people who had lost their homes looked shocked. The difference is that Naya is alone, there is nothing comforting or calming.
"Grandma, how should I go? Where am I going?" lirih Naya while wiping away her tears. It feels so scared. This is Jakarta, anything can happen to him who is young. I have no family and now I have no place to live.
It wasn't long before Naya's phone vibrated. Naya who was still in shock ignored the call. He sat down on the side of the road. People looked, only that he had no strength to raise his head because he knew very well that the gaze was not a look of pity but a look of scorn.
The bastard son of a pesky carrier child, that is what he often heard when new ears can function properly.
Now those words come to light again. Residents around again sneered without caring that he was also difficult.
"Mom, is it true that I'm a son of a bitch? Grandma used to say that I was a precious child, but why did the opposite happen?" Naya muttered while wiping away her tears before the sound of vibrations from inside her pants pocket regained her consciousness. Naya answered the phone lazily.
"She, are you okay?" ask the voice of the woman across the phone.
"Who is this?" reply Naya with a hoarse voice for crying. He is really confused.
"This is Auntie, honey. Aunt Laura. You're all right, aren't you?"
Sounds more attentive than ever. Naya whose mind was chaotic was crying more and more so. She sobbed until Laura said, "Calm down, honey. Auntie's gonna be there soon."
