Summertime

Lin Yue is a first-year film student at an elite campus in Beijing, China called International Music & Theatre University.

Lin Yue had been the backbone of the family since High School, yet she had never complained in her life.

He lives with his sickly mother and his father who only works odd jobs. The money given by his father was only enough to pay for his sister's school money who was still in Junior High School.

One day, her mother was diagnosed with uterine cancer and required her to undergo major surgery as soon as possible.

Lin Yue who had been relying on the help of her uncle who lived abroad was embarrassed to ask for more money.

Although he promised to pay by installments, but still it is not a small fee.

At the same time, he also needed money to pay for his college.

Administrative costs, development, manufacture of alma mater suits, opening events of the new school year, ospek money, and mandatory donations for prospective students/i.

Previously, Lin Yue already had her own savings in preparation for college.

However, half of it was already used as a down payment for her mother's operation.

Not to mention paying hospitalization fees.

Lin Yue felt increasingly threatened to continue her studies, because the average tuition for universities that provide acting majors is expensive.

Almost equivalent to medical college or even more, not to mention the cost of practice, comparative studies, and so on.

Lin Yue had applied for a scholarship and she was elected, but she was not careful enough to leave her sickly mother.

After all, if he studied abroad....

...*Who will make a living for daily expenses*?...

Even so, Lin Yue did not want to undo her talent to become an actress.

He has been interested in acting since childhood, even he has won several competitions organized by the school.

Besides, Lin Yue also had quite a pretty face, clean white skin and a well-proportioned body.

In conclusion, he simply did not have a fate as good as his appearance.

While feeling desperate, Lin Yue would choose to walk away enjoying the cold night breeze hitting her skin.

He stopped at an overpass near his campus, and looked down.

"This river is dark and scary.I don't dare to jump," he murmured.

He closed his eyes, took a deep breath, so that his chest cavity could not hold any more air.

He was just willing to exhale, then he turned his body to observe the vehicle on the street.

Luckily, a motorcyclist saw him and immediately ran to his rescue before the fateful event occurred.

The young man who was still wearing the helmet hugged him tightly, they both crashed to the side.

"Akh!" screeching Lin Yue felt pain in her ankle.

Then, the young man took off his helmet and reprimanded Lin Yue on the sidewalk of the highway, "You want to find dead ha?!"

The truck driver came and scolded him, "What do young people think now? Always doing dangerous attractions, do you want to go viral?" snarled the middle-aged man.

Then, the driver returned inside his truck after Lin Yue apologized.

The young man immediately held her up, and saw that her ankle had swollen and a little wound had been scratched.

He looked for a seat and pulled out a bag containing medical supplies.

Lin Yue had not dared to look at the young man's face or say a word.

Feeling the young lady before him tremble, she raised her head and found Lin Yue crying.

"Is this so painful?" said the young man while cleaning his wound with a cotton swab that had been given alcohol.

"It hurts," cried Lin Yue who was still sobbing.

The young man knew that Lin Yue was not crying over his injuries, but being blunt would only aggravate the atmosphere between them.

"Hold on for a while" he said in a soft voice, he looked like a doctor who was used to dealing with crybaby patients.

After cleaning the wound, he applied a medicated ointment.

"Your bones don't break or shift, they're just external wounds. Apply this ointment for three days in a row, and you'll be completely cured" she explained.

"Can you stand up?" he said while extending his right hand.

"Thank you," said Lin Yue without receiving a helping hand and forcing herself to flee.

"Miss, can you walk alone?" exclaim that young man.

Then, he saw that there was a bus stop in front, so he caught Lin Yue's intention and went riding his motorcycle.

...****************...

Lin Yue was still in pain on her ankle but the sense of wanting to cuss herself was greater.

He entered the bus that had just arrived, and took a seat near the empty window.

Lin Yue leaned her head against the window glass while watching the city streets that were still crowded even though it was past 11pm.

Not long after, he arrived at a slum housing, he traced a dark alley and stopped in front of a house with a blue fence.

He took the key out of his sling bag, and opened the lock of the house, "Mother, I'm home."

A middle-aged woman dressed in batik and a scarf covering her neck walked out in haste while nagging.

"Lin Yue, what are you doing out there until you get home at this hour? Not even the phone picked up."

Incidentally, Lin Yue was wearing knee-length pants so as to reveal her swollen ankles.

"Look, what happened? You fell?" his mother said without pause.

"Who fell down?" shouted his father who ran out, he had eavesdropped earlier while watching the ball.

"So I accidentally stumbled over a stone, but already treated my friend, this will be fine, haha," said Lin Yue while laughing contrivedly.

The three of them went inside the rundown house, and Lin Yue walked into her small room after finishing a cold shower.

He shivered a little, then immediately lay on his bed, revealing a blanket, covering from the tip of his foot to his neck.

"Lin Yue, you fool!" he mumbled half a whisper.

Actually, before the trip home, Lin Yue saw a brochure taped to the campus floor.

A rich man is looking for an eye donor for his blind son and is ready to pay whatever he asks.

However, the next condition is that the donor must include a willing letter before dying.

Lin Yue was unable to erase the news from her mind, and she became more and more serious about it.

Fortunately, he had come to his senses and cursed himself.

How could he think of leaving and letting his family fight alone?

Lin Yue got out of bed, and tore the paper she had prepared in her bag.
