From Abu Musa of the Prophet SAW, he said,” It is obligatory for every Muslim to give alms.” The Companions asked: ‘O Prophet of Allah, what if he does not get to alms? He replied: ‘Effort with his hands, so as to benefit himself and give alms. ‘They ask: What if he can't do it?’ He said: ‘Help people who are in desperate need of help. ‘ They ask: What if he can't do it? He said: Asking to do good and refrain from evil, it is alms for him. (HR Al Bukhari, Muslim and Ahmad). 

From Hakim bin Hizam Radhiyallhu Anhu, he said, “The hand above is better than the hand below. Begin to give from those under your care, and best of all when you feel enough, whoever keeps his honor will surely take care of him, whoever feels enough, Allah will provide for him.”(HR Al Bukhari, Ahmad, An-Nasa’i (from Abu Hurairah). 

From Adi bin Hatim Ra, he said, “Revelation SAW mentioned about hell, then his face changed, then he took refuge from him three times, then he said: Fear you from hell fire, even though alms with a piece of dates. If you do not get it, then with a good sentence.” HR An-Nasa’i, At Tirmidzi and Ahmad.
