The Prophet Hud Alaihissalam was one of the 25 Prophet messengers of Allah Ta’ala who received a revelation for himself. Prophet Hud ‘alaihissalam who is the fourth prophet is from the Arabs, precisely the tribe ‘Ad.

Since childhood the Prophet Hud AS is known as a figure who has a very commendable behavior including, honest, trustworthy, virtuous, hard working, hard, and very wise and friendly in hanging out with friends around him.

The story of the life and journey of the Prophet Hud ‘alaihissalam itself is widely mentioned in the Qur’an. The name “Hud” was even immortalized as the name of one of the letters in Al-Qur’an, the eleventh letter. As narrated in the Quran’an Surat Hud verse 50 which mentions about the Prophet Hud ‘alaihissalam and the people of ‘Ad.

"And to the people of ‘Ad (We send) their brother, Hud. He said, ‘Okay my people! Worship Allah, there is no god for you but Him. (Over this) you're just making it up.’” (Q.L. Hud verse 50).

“Our people! I do not ask you for any reward for this (My Call). My reward is from God who created me. Don't you understand?” (Q.L. Hud verse 51).

During his life Nabi Hud ‘alaihissalam occupied an area called Al-Ahqaf, precisely north of Hadramaut, located between Yemen and Oman. Hadramaut is a very beautiful area because it has fertile land.

Many agricultural products are well grown from the fertile land of Hadramaut. Besides believed to be the birthplace of Prophet Hud ‘alaihissalam, Hadramaut is also believed to be the area where Prophet Saleh AS was born.

Not only save the facts as the birthplace of the Prophet Hud ‘alaihissalam and Nabi Saleh ‘alaihissalam, but Hadramaut also keeps another privilege that there is a holy building of Muslims called Qabr Hud (Makam Hud). Near Qabr Hud there is a mosque that is always crowded with pilgrims, especially on the 11th of Sya’ban.

The history of the Prophet Hud ‘alaihissalam is very closely related to the people of ‘Ad, who lived in the time of the Prophet Hud ‘alaihissalam and was the oldest people after the destruction of the dzolim to the Prophet Noah ‘alaihissalam.

Narrated, Prophet Hud ‘alaihissalam is the grandson of Noah ‘alaihissalam or can be called also a descendant of Sam bin Noah (kaum ‘Ad). The people of ‘Ad who lived in the time of the Prophet Hud ‘alaihissalam are known as people who live very comfortably and prosper.

Their lives prosper because they are flooded with lush green agricultural fields, healthy and abundant livestock, and abundant and fresh water flow. In addition, the stature of the ‘Ad people is also known to be large and strong so it is very beneficial for them in their daily work.

But the pleasures and blessings bestowed upon the people of ‘Ad do not necessarily make them grateful and worship Allah Ta’ala. The people of ‘Ad did not know Allah Ta’ala as their Lord, just as the people before them did (the Prophet Noah). They worshipped their own sculptures and were named with Shamud and Alhattar.
