“Arya, I know you're still mad at me. But plis, let me meet you. I admit our relationship is over but that does not mean we cannot be friends.”
“Sar, three years I think is enough time for us to forget everything that has happened between us. Three years, you never contacted me. And now what are you doing?”
“Arya, I didn't contact you because your mama was forbidden for me to have any more contact with you. Isn't he the one who forced us to divorce.”
“Do not twist Sar facts. You asked for a divorce from me. You asked me to sign the divorce papers that night and go abroad. How many times have I tried to call you, but you never picked up. Now call me back to what?”
“Ence a time. I want to meet you and talk to you, Arya. I miss you.”
“Termuberu, Sar. You have to promise. This is the last time we'll see you. I've closed and severed all ties between us since you filed for divorce.”
“Hn. Yes Ar, I understand.”
Arya was sipping the last drops of Ice Americano she ordered. He had already finished his meeting half an hour ago at hotel A. However, he felt he did not want to go back to the office and instead did his job from hotel A.
He hasn't had a chance to ask where Dinda will Glamping today. His phone could not be reached either. Maybe he was having fun, Arya thought.
Arya looked at the watch in her hand, unexpectedly she had been sitting for hours in the cafe of this hotel. The clock also showed at 9 p.m. Should he stay at this hotel? There was no Dinda at home either. Moreover, tomorrow he had to meet Sarah around here as well.
Actually Arya no longer wants to see the woman. He was afraid that the inside of his heart still wanted the woman.
‘Just this once. After that I will return to Dinda, the woman who is now my wife.’, Arya said in her heart.
Just about to leave the Cafe, Arya saw a figure she knew. The figure he had just thought of.
‘Who is he here with? Ah.. maybe I saw wrong.’, Arya continued to leave the hotel cafe to his car that was parked in front of the hotel.
In the car, Arya still has not started her car because she is still thinking about the figure she saw earlier.
‘Could not. Who's the guy? Ahh ***.’, Arya took her phone and called someone.
“Halo. Where are you?”
“Why? Don't we meet tomorrow?”
“I want us to meet now, tomorrow I have an appointment.”
“But.”
“You just say, where are you. I'll catch up with you.”
“Arya, but I'm out of town.”
“Where? I'll catch up with you there?”
“You? Where are you now?”, replied the voice across.
“I'm at home.”
“Then, you want to follow me here? Your wife?”
“He's not home. Just tell me where.”
“H.. I'm in town A, it took you three hours to get here.”
“Quiet only.”
“Good. You can meet me at hotel A, room number 505. I'm waiting for your arrival.”
Arya got down again from the car and headed to the room that was said by Sarah. Yeah, the woman Arya called was Sarah. The woman he accidentally saw with a man just now. The more Arya thinks the more she is convinced that she is Sarah.
‘For what he still contact her if now he's going to the hotel with a guy. Arya is emotional because she feels being played by Sarah. He should have blocked his number long ago.
But considering Sarah is his ex-wife, the one who once filled Arya's heart, he could never do that.’
Once inside, Arya rushed to find the elevator and pressed down on the 5th floor.
“You are Indonesian? Original where?”, a long-haired woman in a winter jacket approaches Arya in the campus library.
“...”, Arya did not answer.
“You're too excited to be a Stanford student?”
“You mean?”
“Lecture is still two weeks away, and you're already at the Stanford library. What else if not excited.”, said the woman. She was Sarah. 15 years ago was their first meeting in a library at Stanford University.
“In the library should not be noisy. You better shut up.”, Arya got out of her chair and headed to the lending lobby. After he finished processing the loan, he picked up his jacket and walked out of the library while carrying the three books he had borrowed.
“Hey, where are you going? So arrogant. Meet Sarah Adelina, a freshman at Stanford. What majors did you major in?”
“Are you used to being familiar with someone.”
“Hey, in the land of people, we must depend on each other. Besides because you are handsome, I also want to have a friend of the devil when fighting in the land of people.”
Arya stopped her steps and turned around. As a result, Sarah who continued to walk quickly even half-running instead hit Arya. Both fell, including the three books that Arya was holding.
“Oh. I brought band-aid, here I treat first.”
“No need.”
“Tidak can be so. I could get an infection later. Ayooo here.”, Sarah pulls Arya into a long chair that is in front of the library. That day was muddy, no wonder if there were a lot of puddles on the sidewalk.
“Sini, your hands. I took the band-aid first.”, Sarah searched - find the band aid in her bag.
“Ah, meet.”, Sarah takes betadine and pours it over cotton. He rubbed it on Arya's flushed arm. The man grimaced a little. Sarah takes the band-aid and pairs it up.
“Let's also get hurt.”, Arya said as she held the woman's hand.
Now it's Arya's turn to take over betadine and cotton and then do the same to Sarah.
Sarah smile.
“Hai... We already share betadine and treat each other. You still don't want to tell me your name?” Sarah said with a smile towards Arya.
“Arya Pradana.”
“Wahh I finally know the name of this handsome guy in front of me. Greetings, I'm Sarah Adelina.”
“You said earlier.”
“It turns out you remember me, yes. Major?”, ask Sarah again.
“Econometrics and Quantitative Economics.”
“Oooh... smart once.”.
“You?”
“International Relations and Affairs.”, Arya nodded at Sarah's reply.
They continue on their way home and discover that they live in the same apartment building. Before returning to their rooms, Arya and Sarah decide to sip a cup of coffee at a cafe close to their apartment.
Two months later.
“Hey, lately it's been hard to see you. I never cross paths even though we are in the same apartment building.”, Sarah hit Arya's shoulder who just arrived at the cafe.
“Aah. I haven't seen you since our meeting. I forgot to ask your room number.”, they parted in the elevator at their first meeting. Both lived in the same apartment building, but different floors.
“How are you?”, Sarah asked. Arya who had just ordered coffee sat down next to Sarah. That woman was there already. Proven from the coffee cup that has been left half.
“Good. I have a new Indonesian friend. Maybe I'll introduce you if you don't mind. He doesn't live around here. Maybe we can meet next time.”
“Ooh.. I also have a fellow Indonesian friend in my major. He'll be here any minute. If you don't mind, I will introduce you and maybe we and your friends can also get acquainted.”, Arya proposed.
“Very good. That's a good idea. It's hard to find other Indonesians in my department. More friends better.”
Tleng Tleng Tleng
The sound of the door bells made them aware. A man with a stature similar to theirs appeared from behind the entrance.
“Hai Dimas, here.”, Arya waved his hand while smiling gleefully. He can't wait to introduce Dimas, his Indonesian friend, to Sarah, the girl he met the other day at the library.
Arya met Dimas after a week of lectures. It turned out that the man was ditching and had just left Indonesia. Dimas is not from among the people. There was a problem with the scholarship so that his departure to America was delayed.
Unlike Arya who was very excited, Dimas felt a little surprised by what he saw before him. As if knowing each other, Sarah also showed the same expression. However, a moment later they similarly fixed his expression without Arya noticing.
“Sarah, introduce. It's Dimas. The friend I mentioned.”, Arya immediately pulled Dimas and invited him to meet Sarah.
Sarah remained silent, until Dimas extended his hand.
“Hai, I'm Dimas Prasetya.”, Dimas said with a smile.
Sarah held her hand in doubt. “I Sarah. Sarah Adelina.”
“Why? You are so embarrassed to meet a handsome man like Dimas.”, Arya intends to tease Sarah.
“Tays. But still not as handsome as you, Arya.”, said Sarah blakkan.
Dimas smiled.
“You're still the same Sarah. Same with our first meeting in the library.”, said Arya.
“I order a drink first.”, between Dimas.
“He will stay in my flat starting today.”, continued Arya again.
“Oh.. is your flat enough?”, replied Sarah.
“Yes. I'm on the 2nd floor and the room is wider than I imagined. So, I'll just offer it to Dimas.”
“Arya kindly gave me a very cheap rental price, so I have no trouble organizing money. The scholarship fund I got was not much.”, Dimas who had finished ordering his drink rejoined and interrupted.
Sarah nodded.
“You don't have to say that. I'm happy to have a friend.”, said Arya.
“Indeed so right?”, Dimas smiled. That night they spent nostalgic with school life in Indonesia.
