"Kring... Cring..."
The school bell rang, a sign of the time the wife had arrived. As usual, Gendhis and his friends went out of class, just to unwind, or spend their break time in the school cafeteria.
"You're not out, Dis?" Tina asked, my friend Gendhis.
"No ah, I'm running out." Gendis replied as she read the novel she had borrowed in the library.
"Yes, I went to the cafeteria first, same thing." Pamit Tina's.
"Key..." Reply Genthis.
When he got to the door, Tina said, "Dis... Wanted Mas Lintang..."
"Eh, that. Let me just get in." Lintang said as he walked towards the table where his lover was sitting
A soft smile expands from her beautiful face. Genphis greeted her lover. "What's wrong, Mas Lintang nyariin Gendhis?"
"I want to talk, Dis..." Lintang sat in the front seat of the Gendis table.
"Yes, Mas. Why?" Gendis closed the book she was reading.
"On last night... " Lintang Word.
Gendhis understood what his lover was trying to say.
"Maybe, a thank you won't be enough to make up for what you did to me last night, Dis." Hingar happily emanated from the look of Lintang's face.
"Ah... The latitude is too much." Gendhis blushed in shame.
"I'm serious, Dis. If it wasn't for you persuading Father and Mother last night, I might be confused as to how to convince them." Latitude Speech.
"Gendhis just conveys what Gendhis feels right, Mas." Gendhis.
"Not exactly anymore, Dis. You know since I was a kid that was my biggest dream. Becoming a TNI. And you have made it for me. Thanks..." Lintang looked at her lover's face with pride.
"Yes, Mas... It was Mas Lintang's dream, fight for it, my do'a was always there for you." Genphis is happy for her lover.
"Good, Dis. I pledge. Will keep your trust, I will also study earnestly, so that I finish quickly and we can get married soon." The sweet promise came out of the mouth of Latang without any coercion from anyone.
Gendhis smiled with relief at Lintang's sweet greeting. He just hopes that nothing will get in the way of their relationship until the time comes.
"Kring... Cring..."
The school bell rings. The break time is over. Lintang left Gendhis and went back to his class.

Gendhis got off the motorcycle which took him home from school. With whom else if not with Lintang, his future fiancee. Gendhis was surprised, because when he left school this morning the yard of his house opposite the Lintang house was still very quiet. And look now... There has been a lot of hustle and bustle of people here and there with all their activities.
"Have you gone home, Gendhis?" Asked a middle-aged woman while carrying a pot full of meat.
"Yes, Mother... It's." Already." Gendhis smiled as he walked in his courtyard.
It doesn't look like a page anymore. Either the courtyard of his house or the Lintang house, filled with army green glittering tents. Their house, which is only separated by the village road, is transformed by the WO (wedding organizer) into one amazing yard. Looks like not two families who are having a celebration, but one family member.
In front of the house Lintang emblazoned with a variety of colorful chrysanthemums and roses. The small garden with the sound of splashing water from the artificial garden pond made the decoration more alive. White decorative lights flickered, and a pair of chairs in the guarantee, all looking cool to the eye.
In front of the house of Gendhis, the stage of entertainment was no less interesting. With a variety of decorations are also wani-colored ornamental plants. Then in the middle of their yard, there are chairs and various kinds of dishes neatly arranged on the guest table wrapped in a pink army color mosquito net combined with a beautiful pink ribbon. Not wrong indeed Latitude chose WO at that time. His taste is indeed very modern, so that makes all villagers amazed to see it. No wonder if the girls in his village are very dreaming of a magnificent engagement party such as the party of Lintang and Gendhis.
"It's lucky Mr. Ratno got a candidate like Mr. Argo. Already well, generous, rich anyway. Look ma'am, just the engagement was this fancy. Especially if you marry later..." Said a mother in the kitchen of Gendhis' house. The man looked to his right and left as if making sure that no two families heard his words.
"Yes, he said tomorrow after the engagement there is a teaching event, and who will give the event tomorrow he said famous qosidah group from Semarang, nasi... nasi?" Add other mothers.
"Nasi?" Answer the mothers who are peeling red onions.
"Mom... Nasi. Nasidaria is ma'am..." The first mother started the conversation and replied.
"Well, right... Nasidaria. Continuing the night again there will be a puppet show overnight for from Jogjakarta you know, Mom." Said one mother.
"Yes, it's lucky that Miss Sari." The three mothers commented on each other without them noticing that Gendhis was actually hearing their conversation from behind the door.
Then came Bu Rati carrying a pot that he had washed next to the house of Gendhis.
"Eh, Mom Mother... Not only is Bu Sari lucky, Bu Parti is also lucky you get a ghost candidate like Mbak Gendhis. Already beautiful, kind, friendly, cooking pinter, diligent help parents, educated, school is also smart... Wes, really a dream ghost candidate."
"Yes... Right mothers, indeed Mas Latang and Mbak Gendhis are the perfect couple. There is hardly any lack of you, beautiful and handsome..." Add other mothers.
Gendhis was still standing behind the kitchen door. When the mothers finished talking about it, Gendhis decided to enter the house through the kitchen door.
"Excuse me, ladies..." It was as if Gendhis had heard nothing of their conversation.
"Eh, Sister Gendhis has come home..." Ask Bu Rati.
"Yes, Mrs Rati. Monggo moms, I hitchhiked by." Friendly, Gendhis passed through the crowd of mothers who were cooking for his invited guests.
"Yes, Mother..." Answer mothers.
"Eh, about Sister Gendhis is not the same as we said earlier?" One of them whispered.
"Hopefully ndak, yes. Ah... Already, gossiping, later fried chicken gosong you know, Mom." Reply Bu Rati.
They also continued their work. Tradition and family in Kampung Merangi is still very thick. Seen when one of the residents there is a celebration. When asked for help to come home, they immediately flocked to help. Leave the work in their fields, from morning till late, until all the kitchen work is done.
Not for reward, they do this sincerely, because they put everything in its place. They realize someday they will also experience the same thing, which is to host a celebration. And usually, as a thank you, the homeowner will give reciprocity in the form of groceries or food given to residents after all the events are over. That is the tradition of Kampung Merangi.

That night the sound of music was heard quite loudly around the house of Mr. Argo as well as Mr. Ratno. Some residents are still preoccupied with a series of preparations for the Sunday morning event. Mothers in the kitchen prepare food, while the fathers outside are still busy chatting while enjoying a cup of coffee. The village teenager who is also friends Lintang was seen fun playing PlayStation which he brought from the room Lintang.
Elsewhere, Gendhis pensively sat alone in front of the vanity mirror in his room. Ms. Sari opened the door to take her daughter to dinner. Bu Sari was a little surprised to see her daughter with a grim face before her engagement day.
"Nduk... What's wrong? It seems you are thinking of something. What... You're getting the show tomorrow morning so you can't sleep?" Bu Sari smiled seductively towards her daughter.
"Eh... I'm not, ma'am, Gendhis is just thinking." Gendish answered in a weak voice.
"What do you think of Nduk?" Ms. Sari was curious.
"Gendhis felt... isn't it too much?" Speech interrupted.
"What's excessive, Nduk?" Ms. Sari still did not understand.
"Yes, everything is Mom. Father and Mother didn't even ask, Genphis wants what kind of fiancee." There seemed to be a bit of disappointment from her beautiful face.
Bu Sari sat on the cot of her daughter's bed.
"Gendhis, why are you suddenly talking like that, Nduk? What made Gendhis not like this party?" Said Ms. Sari starting to worry.
"Mothers... Not that Gendhis doesn't like it." Reply Genthis.
"Then?" Ms. Sari asked back.
"Gendhis thanks you for having the engagement party for Gendhis. But... does it have to be this luxurious? It's just a fiancee, ma'am..." Reply Genthis.
Bu Sari stroked her daughter's long hair.
"Honey.. This is all Mr. Argo and Nak Lintang who take care of. Even the same Father Mother can not refuse it because they whistled hard to keep making a party for you. Starting from the events, decorations, entertainment all those arranged." Said Ms. Sari trying to calm Gendhis down.
"Yes, but I can ask Gendhis first..." Gendhis.
"Gendhis.. I'm sorry because I'm the same father ndak to talk to you, because we thought, you're going to love this party." Obviously Ms. Sari.
"Oh... Mother.. who wants the fiancee is Gendhis right Ma'am, Gendhis just does not want the people's assumption about our family to be misunderstood. What if they think we're using Mr. Argo's family with his wealth and kindness? Although we live from a simple family, but that doesn't mean we have to accept all of Mr. Argo's gifts to us, Mother..." It was clear that Gendhis was holding his mother's fingers.
Miss Sari was surprised and said, "Are there really Nduk who talks like that? Who, Nduk?"
"It's mom, it doesn't matter who said it. It's a fact that we've received all the gifts Mr. Argo." Gendhis was still silently thinking about the words of the mothers this afternoon in his kitchen.
"Gendhis." Ms. Sari looked sorry.
Gendhis just nodded his head.
"Yes already, now eat first yuk..." Bu Sari took her daughter.
"So afternoon, Gendhis had eaten and is now full, ma'am." Reply Genthis.
"Yes, now you sleep. I have to get up early tomorrow to prepare." Said Ms. Sari.
Genphis nodded her head.
Ms. Sari left Gendhis in her room.
In the heart the girl said,
"Mr, Mother, you are too kind. Everything you gave me was good, even too good. You choose a soul mate for me, even when I have never seen the world. How not, you guys picked a soul mate for me when I was eight months old in your womb, Mom... Don't ask me what kind of engagement party do you even choose a mate for me without asking if I want to marry that man? Thank goodness the man you chose was a good man, and a good family. May I still be your daughter who can always obey the will of the Father and also Mother. Because I'm sure everything you do is solely for the happiness of his daughter, so it never occurred to anyone who would say what, as long as you see his children happy, you must be happy. Thanks Father... Mum..."
The night is getting late. The cold air at the top of Sumbing penetrated through the slit of the slightly still open room window. The sound of music slowly began to weaken, ushering in tired souls after a day struggling with the preparation of the engagement party. Gendhis closed his eyelids, praying that tomorrow would be a good start to his relationship with Lintang, his childhood mate who would soon be officially his fiancee.
