Seven Monthly Rituals

Just got home Marinka sighed tiredly.

"Why do you think it's cape?" silvi asked as she approached her mother.

"Yes your mama cape abis cranky earlier."

"Huh rambunctious? How can you, mama gambek.? silvi asked while holding back her laughter.

"Where would you like to see your ex-papa?" said the fiery Marinka.

"Idich the mama has said that since then, Rebeca is just a business partner. Still jealous," Adi tried to defend himself.

"Tap it real papa's ex?" Marinka is still clingy.

"Yes ma, want papa explained how mama also still do not want to accept. It's up to mama to dech how good it is," Adi said trying to end the debate.

Vico who had just returned from the office saw the furore between Marinka and Adi, immediately looked at Silvi while giving the code. Silvi giggles at her jealous mother, but she soon moves away from them and approaches Vico.

"Darling, why tuch papa with mama?" ask Vico astonishment.

"Obviously, mama is the same as papa's business partner," Silvi said with a smile and rubbed her stomach.

"Well, how can you?" Vico is getting curious.

"Hehe, the horrors of papa's business partner was papa's ex-girlfriend first. That's why my mom is like that."

"Hahaha. mama there-there's aja dech."

Vico couldn't hold back the laughter he had been holding back from earlier.

Suddenly Adi approached them. Both of them automatically stopped his laughter, so that it was not known by Adi that they were laughing at his parents.

"Eh, papa. What's the matter pa?"  vico asked while looking at his in-laws.

"Look, actually, papa and mama want to hold a seven-month event for you, but because of mama you sulk papa so forget."

"Yes, could pa. When is the plan?" silvi asked his father.

"Papa's plan to hold his show next week."

"It's good, but mom agrees?" vico said while watching Marinka sitting on the sofa.

"Your mom says it's up to you."

"Well pa, then we should prepare everything and invite the guests first?" silvi.

"Oh yes Vico. Don't forget to invite your mother too." Adi reminded Vico.

"Yes pa. Let me tell mom." Vico answered his father-in-law.

Week pass. The expected event has arrived.

Events through various processions in accordance with Javanese customs, because Silvi and Vico are Javanese.

Then proceed with the sungkeman event. At this event first Silvi as a mother-to-be doing sungkeman to the prospective father (husband). Then, Silvi and Vico made a condolence to their parents to ask for blessings so that the process of pregnancy and birth will run smoothly and safely.

After the procession of sungkeman is completed, continued in the second procession, Siraman or bath is a symbol of ceremony as a statement of a sign of self-cleaning, both physical and soul. This symbolic cleansing aims to free the future mother from sins so that if the future mother gives birth to a child does not have a moral burden so that the birth process becomes smooth.

At this event, the reading of the letters of Joseph and Maryam was carried out with the hope and prayer of the baby to be a sholeh/sholeh child. Joseph's letter was read by Vico as husband and Maryam's Letter was read by Silvi.

Then after reading the two letters continued reading Surat Yasin, tahlil and sholawat Prophet to get blessing.

After reciting the holy verse of the Qur'an, the procession was done, Silvi sat in the place that had been provided and then watered with water that had been mixed with various flowers using a dipper made of coconut shells.

Watering starts from the ustadzah, followed by both Silvi's parents and not to forget also her in-laws, husband, and the closest person.

Next event, Change of Clothes ceremony.

At this event as a future mother Silvi will wear seven kinds of cloth and kebaya. Then, when changing clothes six times the goal is to get answers from mothers who are present whether it is appropriate or not.

After, the mother-to-be changes the clothes seven times with a simple striated cloth motif, then the mothers will say appropriate with the clothes.

After the dressing ceremony, Silvi was told to sit on a pile of clothes and cloth that had been worn out. Has a symbol so that the baby can be born enough months. This ceremony is also called the Angrem Ceremony

Next Ceremony of Coconut Rupah. This event was carried out by prospective grandmothers, Marinka and Ratna, carrying two ivory coconuts, each of which was attracted by Wayang Kamajaya and Kamaratih figures.

Then, the prospective father chooses the two ivory coconuts to find out the gender of the prospective baby boy or woman. This is only hope, not necessarily a reality.

The last event, dodol rujak, in this event, Silvi was told to make a rujak accompanied by her husband, and the guests would buy it by using kreweng as currency. This means so that prospective babies who are born get abundant sustenance and can support their families later.

This event is quite time-consuming, because it is held from morning to night. Silvi was quite tired of the seven-monthly ritual, after all the invited guests left the event, Vico immediately told her to rest.

Adi and Marinka are deeply moved by Silvi's seven-monthly event. Although still limited to expectations, but as parents they are very happy to see their only child has gone through the customary process.

When they were alone, Rebeca suddenly came to see them and brought various kinds of gifts for Silvi.

"Hi Marinka, I'm sorry I'm a little late, because my son came from America, so I had to pick him up first just came here," the lady class was full of hospitality.

"Did papa invite him here too?"  marinka asked her husband.

"Hm.iya ma, Rebeca is also a business partner papa so papa invited him to come here," explained Adi.

The look on Marinka's face immediately changed, which had been full of happiness now even became upset because of the presence of Rebeca.

Rebeca who noticed Marinka, understood with Marinka's attitude, he also directly persuaded Marinka.

"I came here just to fulfill the invitation, no other intent. I hope you're not bothered by my arrival." Tukas Rebeca's.

Marinka just kept quiet and answered nothing. He shows a face of objection to Rebeca's presence, but as a good host Adi persuades his wife and invites his guests to attend the event that is being held.

Although with a bit of confusion facing between the two people but Adi must respect and appreciate his guests. There's no way he's just telling Rebeca to come home.

Finally Marinka followed her husband though with a heavy heart, but because there was nothing suspicious between her husband and Rebeca she also continued to entertain her guest.
