Chapter 65: Dutch East Indies 1942

Dutch East Indies, 1942.

DORRRR

DORRRR

The shootout out there looks so fucked up. Accompanied by several bodies falling along the road.

Red blood, flooding the streets. An Allied car came, from the west. Many corpses, scattered filled his path. But that compassion is completely gone.

With great speed, they crushed all the corpses on the streets.

The sound of the broken bones, they no longer care. It's about power and wealth to whoever wins it.

They will get the Dutch East Indies like paradise in their eyes. It is this rich country, their priority right now.

"NIPPON!!!" shouted one of the soldiers, in the vanguard. Like gesturing to all his comrades behind. One, the flare he fired as a sign.

"Verdomme, die nippons!" one angry voice.

(Damn it, the Nippon!)

That quote came from a soldier named Deiderick. Hearing the words of their general, they retreated.

"Run, run!" say everyone, flocking to their headquarters.

BOMMMMMM

BOMMMMMM

The entrance of Batavia, bombed. The entire Dutch army stopped, seeing the only door to survive collapse.

The Japanese army drew closer, with the bullets still there, they shot all the Dutch soldiers who stood there.

Deiderick, try running to save yourself. But alas, one shot from the sniper hit his head.

His body collapsed on the ground, the land they once raided with greed and all cruel behavior.

The Inlanders. Inlander is a term for Indonesian people, referring to the Indigenous meaning.

That day, the Dutch headquarters in Batavia were conquered. The Dutch surrendered unconditionally to the Allies at that time.

News of the victory, the yellow man was up from radio to radio.

The fall of the Dutch government at that time, much to the controversy and terror. The Dutch people, made to suffer greatly after his defeat.

Veterans' bodies, delivered directly to his residence. Like Deiderick's body, which is now in the hands of his eldest son Pieter.

Pieter, too, is a warrior just like his Pappa. Luckily, that day they were not assigned together, only his Pappa was assigned to the front Guard section.

The tears came down, with his steps into his house.

There, his Mamma looks in shock at him.

"Deiderick?!!!" peekkik Hanna, running towards the body of her husband. Pieter squealed, putting Papa's body on the floor. Truly, he felt like a failure as a son at this moment.

"Pieter, why did he get shot?!!" asked Mama while crying.

Pieter was silent, still with the crying and pain she felt. Really, to just answer her mom's question she couldn't.

From the top of the stairs, a boy came down. Approaching his family, Pieter stared softly at him.

He is, Barend, the younger brother of Pieter. Barend, walk over to his family. Then, join in front of his Papa.

"Pieter, is Pappa bleeding?" barend said, stroking his Pappa face gently.

It feels like, considering his sister does not know enough about what happened.

Pieter, gently rubbed his sister's head. The mane, blonde was similar to his Deiderick Pappa.

Those blue eyeballs, his face, this little brother inherited all of his Pappa physique.

"Pappa is flying in the sky, meeting God?" obviously Pieter, Barend still doesn't know what that means.

"Pappa didn't take me?" tanyanya polo's. Pieter shook her head slowly in response.

"She, she'll never come back!" that remark, made Barend surprised.

He looked again at his Pappa, put his head on his Pappa chest.

"Pappa, don't breathe?" tabya Barend again. Plain as a child that.

That question, made Hanna's crying even more broken. The husband she loved so much fell in battle. Be a widow since that day.

Two weeks since they've been sad. The Dutch people are now being moved, becoming one in the refugee camp area.

Where, there all Dutch citizens are gathered and made miserable.

This camp, directly supervised by the Allies. They were made so miserable here, with the aim that they would leave the Dutch East Indies as soon as possible.

Not infrequently, the indecent treatment of Nippon made them grimace in pain.

Like the time, children play and their toys enter the Nippon area.

When one of the children picked it up, they viciously kicked the boy back into the camp area.

They will be returned to their country. Ships, to transport them back will come every Monday. They will be thrown every Monday.

This morning, Pieter was standing in line for water. The stock of clean water in his house is up, what makes him so excited here is, when Barend told him,

"Pieter, I'm thirsty! Here, mom doesn't care at all. And I'm hungry, I want a piece of Perffertjes bread like it used to be!" his sister's words, made him excited here.

Nippon also applies a rule, where white people should not move out in the evening.

Many Inlanders boycotted the entire facility, for whites.

Public transportation, hotels, and all other facilities no longer accept white people.

They will just, get the whole facility like Water, food, shelter only on Camp.

Including, children. She was like, devastated by the death of her husband.

Like, still can't accept that. In fact, to study Barend alone he was no longer willing. His days he spent with, wailing and wailing.

Barend is a kid, he doesn't know about anything here. All he knows at the moment is, playing with some of the kids who are here too.

If he's hungry, he'll ask Pieter for a loaf of bread. If sleepy, he would tell Pieter and Pieter would prepare a bed for him.

That day, after taking the water. Pieter was tempted at something outside the Camp area. A small boot, probably about the size of a Barend's foot.

Carrying a bucket of water in his hand, Pieter approached the seller. In his heart, he wanted to bring the shoes to Barend. He must be, very happy.

He had not been able to get out of there, a Japanese soldier blocking his way.

"Ushi yo, tachisaru kyoka o emashita ka?" a Nippon soldier told him.

(You got permission to go out, cattle?)

The words uttered by the Allies, really not able to understand Pieter.

"I don't understand what you're saying!" answer Pieter.

BUAGHHHHH

With his rifle, Nippon hit Pieter to the ground. The water he got by queuing it up, spilled out now.

Furious, with what this Nippon did Pieter got up and was about to hit him.

However, a girl from behind him pulled his shirt, trying to prevent the foolish actions that Pieter was about to take.

"Let me, that talk!" whispered the girl to Pieter.

It was Anna's friend since childhood. Pieter tries to temper her emotions, then lets Anna talk to Nippon.

"Watashitachi wa soko ni kutsu o kai ni dekakeru koto ga dekimasu? Watashitachi ga nigetara, anata wa watashitachi o utsu koto ga dekimasu. Afternoon wa yoi moi moshidedesu ne." Anna told Nippon.

(You can let us go out to buy that? You can shoot us if we run. That's a good offer, isn't it?)

Pieter was surprised to hear how fluent Anna was in Japanese. Since when, he has mastered it.

The words from Anna, made the Nippon nod. Before long, Anna approached Pieter, taking him to the shoe seller.

"Thank you, Annie!" pieter said to Anna. Anna smiled hearing that, nodding.

"You sure, you want to make Barend happy, don't you?" anna asked, as Pieter was busy picking out those little boots.

"Of course!" pieter answered him.

"I haven't said this" Anna said as she recalled something in her head.

"What?" ask Pieter. Pieter's question made Anna smile pityingly.

"I'm so sorry about Mr. Deiderick's passing!" said Anna.

Pieter laughs at that, he believes Anna must also be saddened by the death of Pappanya who also died along with Deiderick.

"We were both in a state of grief at that time. It's okay, I'm not so worried about that!" pieter replied trying to calm down.

Anna nodded hearing that, Pieter had already chosen which shoes she would give her sister.

He handed the shoes to the seller, while the seller stared at them cynically.

"Why do you see us like that?" asked Anna, astonished.

"How does it feel to be colonized now?" the seller said, Anna was surprised to hear that.

It felt, his hands were itching to grab this human.

"I'm sure you're surrounded by luxury. Must have suffered so much!" say the seller again.

"How much total?" after Anna, Pieter just silently looked at the two humans in front of her.

Because he knew, he had no right to fight this Inlander. Perhaps, they were heartbroken at the colonialism that the Dutch had done to them.

"Actually, I have the right to refuse what you want here. Normally, we sell it 15 Gulden. But, because it's an illegal sale if it's for cattle like you. I sold him 30 Gulden!" said the seller. Anna was surprised to hear that, the price was double.

The Gulden is the Dutch currency that was in effect from 1858 Years ago to the present.

Reportedly, the currency will soon be replaced with Japanese currency. They plan to replace it tomorrow.

Because I don't want to prolong the problem. Pieter took out some of the money Inlander demanded. Anna was surprised to see that.

"Hey, why are you giving it?" anna asked, The Inlander accepted it with pleasure. Pieter, carrying the item he bought after saying thank you.

"You know, maybe after this Nippon will be worse colonizing you! You act, as if your country is free!" ketus Anna, then went after Pieter who had preceded him.

One or two parts next, still about Barend huh! It's a story that must be told to millions of lives on earth.

Not for fame. Rather, for one reason about what happened in that era. That year, about the Nusantara.

My narrative will probably be much exaggerated. But the incident about the archipelago, the war between the allies and Nippon at that time was real.

Human heads were scattered everywhere. History was clothed with blood and life!

Strangers are trying to take this land. But our men are keeping him half dead with lives.

For the living at this time. Be grateful for the freedom gained in the death of the ancestors.

We are resting on a row of their dead bodies that are sorely buried in the ground. 😌 if you have talked about the history, it feels so bad rek! 🙇 Al-fatihah for all Indonesian heroes, amen...
